Once upon a time, there lived a fashionable and totally popular young lady named Kalani Mahsa who, through questionably dubious recruitment tactics, was awakened as the senshi Chibi Morishita of the Yamamayaa, by a creature who insisted it was not named Kyubey, nor did it want her soul. Although it wasn’t exactly a job she had signed up for voluntarily, she did her duty to protect the peace nonetheless, like a dutiful senshi should. It was a small sacrifice, but Chibi Morishita was a noble senshi who looked out for the little people.
… Or at least that was the story according to Kalani. In reality, she was a horribly lazy slacker, who preferred to sleep in all day rather than do any chores, and who didn’t really patrol as much as she only took care of youma problems if they were close enough to home to be a pain, and only if there was nobody else around to take care of it for her. ‘Noble’ and ‘Dutiful’ were not words people would use to describe the chibi senshi of the Yamamaya.
(Also, she wasn’t actually as popular as she liked to hype herself up to be.)
In spite of her laziness, the chibi senshi known as Morishita could occasionally be roused to do her job, much to her chagrin, thanks to the very selfsame ‘creature’ that had awakened her, who was not some horrible soul-stealing monster, but was actually a fluffy white kitten named Runelucia. It didn’t always work, of course, because Runelucia was easily bought off by appealing to her hobbies, but it got the teen out of the house sometimes. Still, Morishita’s laziness usually won out, and there were just some things that even Rune couldn’t convince her to do, such as going into space and visiting her homeworld.
Or, at least, that was the case for the first couple of years.
Indeed, if Morishita had had her way, she would have remained a chibi senshi well into her college years, because what did it matter if she never went outdoors anyway? There were plenty of other senshi out there to keep things under control, so as long as she took care of the small fry every now and then when they wandered a little too close to home (or when Rune pestered her into it), then she was, effectively, doing her duty, right? Such was the mantra Kalani repeated year after year, as her easy out of having to go outside and ‘touch grass’, so to speak.
At least, it worked sometimes.
In the end, Rune had managed to find Kalani’s one major weakness: fashion and self-image, and had successfully appealed to that in order to get her young charge to go into space for the very first time since the teen had first awakened into her powers. Kalani would have to admit (begrudgingly) that Rune had a point in that she didn’t want to still be dressed like she was at thirteen by the time she reached her twenties, and her new outfit was pretty stylish and fitting towards her current tastes in fashion, but…
Just how did one little cat hold so much sway over what was one of the laziest senshi in Destiny City?
