Given that Liryn had a habit of fiddling with his senshi phone, Athene hadn't been particularly surprised to find that a new app had popped up amongst the downloaded apps on the phone.

Because Liryn also had a tendency to download new apps and run updates on the phone when he fiddled with it.

He hadn't given the connections app much thought however and hadn't done much more than set up a profile on the app - and in truth Athene had only done that much to stop Liryn from deciding to set one up on his behalf–

But that had been about a year ago and then the app had sat on the phone forgotten.

Until recently that is.

As in the previous day recently.

But the app was why he had ended up in the park at around ten o' clock-ish with a batch of cinnamon cookies that he had baked earlier on in the day and a small thermos of hot chocolate waiting to see if a Sailor Alya would show.

He had picked Alya to message somewhat randomly, because the other eternal senshi's profile had seemed to be one of the oldest on there if not the oldest and had sent a quick message:



Athene knew that there was a possibility that Alya wouldn't show, given that the two of them had never met - and also given that a message sent a day in advance wasn't much notice–

But Alya's profile had seemed friendly and had mentioned that the other senshi was willing to patrol with anyone, so Athene thought it worth it to wait for a bit and see if anyone would turn up.

Athene had been considering maybe drinking a little bit of the hot chocolate when he first picked up on the other aura–

Alya?

It seemed too much of a coincidence that the other aura was also that of an eternal, especially since it seemed to be heading in his general direction.

He was on his feet when the other senshi came into view, as he returned the other’s wave of greeting with a friendly wave of his own that was echoed by the small smile on his lips.

"Evening," he said quietly, "Thanks for coming out." There was a rueful note in his voice as he admitted "Especially as I kind of sent the message last minute and everything."

Truthfully Athene hadn’t been sure that Alya (and he was assuming that blond was Alya as he looked like the picture in the app) was going to show given just how last minute said message had been, but he was glad that the other eternal had done so because he really hadn’t wanted to patrol on his own.

"And yes I’m Athene" he laughed slightly although the quiet laughter was directed at himself as he admitted "I probably should have started with that."

"Nice to meet you formally" Athene said as he reached out to shake the offered hand, and then ran his words back mentally.

"Well not formal-formal" he added quickly, because he’d never been one to stand on ceremony and hadn’t been planning to start now "More nice to meet you face to face" because whilst the connections app profiles had photos linked to them (well at least the ones that he had looked through had had profile photos) it wasn’t quite the same.

His lips quirked up in a rueful smile at Alya’s question "In truth, you’d probably know more than me whether there’s been anything out of the ordinary lately" Athene admitted quietly, because he (or rather Arian) had only been back in the country for five days, not quite a week even.

The rueful smile was reflected in his quiet voice as he added "It’s my first time powering up in quite a bit so I’m kind of out of the loop when it comes to the city comings and goings."

Athene paused for a moment before adding, "But it’s kind of nice to patrol with company and it seems like tonight at least is shaping up to be quiet - well at least for Destiny City."
