It was always summer when she actually went out. Of course, Sapphirine had the excuse that she was abroad for over a year. It had been nice, spending time in Europe, but it was nice to be back in the city, and it was almost time for the Star Festival…she would have to reach out to see if Psilomelane would want to hang out again now that she was back, but first she wanted to make sure she had the lay of the land again.
God, the city was so different from those in Italy and Spain…it was…it was nice to be home…but…if she said that she wasn’t at least a little sad to be back here…where she had to pretend to want to work...it wouldn’t be a lie.
With a sigh, Sapphirine sat herself on a bench, adjusting her fabric tail so that it didn’t look stupid. God, that was really the worst part of this upgrade. Still…maybe when…if she could get stronger…
Her thoughts trailed off and she gazed out into nowhere as she played with some strands of her hair, just broodingi.
She didn’t notice the aura coming closer, but. Perhaps she should have.
Blame it on vacation brain.

Vilenius had not had a good night. It was better than being trapped in a small cavern behind a waterfall but that was a pretty low standard to beat.
He’d met a Corrupted Senshi earlier, and the front of his outfit and face were still painted with dried blood. He’d wiped most of it off on the back of his arm when it had started to stick and dry but he wasn’t concerned about his appearance. Not out here.
Sterling had given him the rundown about how he should avoid the normal people in Destiny City. The civilians who ‘didn’t know’ about any of this.
He didn’t care about them, anyway. Only the Negaverse. Only Chaos.
And, here was another Senshi, wandering into his path.
Making it easy for him.
Which was good, because he was already frustrated and unfulfilled from his earlier run-in.
His lip curled into a sneer as soon as he saw her. “Why are there so many of you?” he hissed. He could have been quiet. He could have come at her before announcing himself.
Maybe he just didn’t want this confrontation to end as quickly as the last one did.
He didn’t want to be out all night hunting these people down just to feel better about things. He still had to make it back before Sterling realized he was gone.

Sapphirine looked up and just stared blankly at the wild looking…Senshi? He kind of looked like a Senshi…but…
“Yo, dude why are you blue? That’s not normal, are you just cold? Like…are you okay?” Standing up, Sapphirine reached her hands out as though by fussing over him he would warm and not be blue. You did turn blue when you were cold, right? Or couldn’t he breathe? She didn’t like the White Moon but…seeing someone die wasn’t really on her bucket list so…if she could stop that from happening right now that would be pretty cool, thanks.
“Ah, and what do you mean by so many of us?” Was he…being racist? Because if that was the case.
Oh hell no.

Vilenius’ lip curled again and twisted into a sneer. His eyes narrowed once more and he looked at her with obvious disgust. Chaos was one thing, but a Senshi draped in it? He could vomit. He might just.
There was a lump in his stomach and a fire that burned up his throat. It was so revolting he could practically taste it.
He was on edge as she stood, and when she reached out towards him he smacked her hands away.
“It’s hard enough to understand that anyone could be smitten by Chaos–but you? A Senshi?” How was that even possible?
“What’s wrong with you?”

“What?” This guy was making less and less sense, and the word burst out of Sapphirine before she could think of something better to say…or at least something more…eloquent.
“Smitten by Chaos? What are you even on about? I was given the chance for power, and I took it. It’s not about being smitten, General Queen Hessonite said that she saw promise in me and she asked if I wanted to be more than I was and I said hell yes, because who doesn’t want to be more than they are.”
Still staring at Vilenius, Sapphirine tilted her head slightly. “...What’s wrong with you? And who even are you to be judging me?”

“Nothing is wrong with me,” Vilenius countered sharply. He wasn’t the one polluted by Chaos. Blind and ignorant to its creeping rot. “Were you really so easily fooled? She made you think you needed her?”
He scoffed, either at the audacity of the Negaverse or the obliviousness of the people of this world. This was why you couldn’t have secrets! Lies and betrayal bred in the darkness. Maybe they could have saved her from the pollution coursing through her starseed if she’d known.
But this wasn’t his world. This wasn’t even his fight.
He was just here, looking for trouble until he could figure out what he was supposed to be doing.
“No Senshi has ever needed assistance. A Mauvian, to awaken you. Maybe. To resonate with your starseed and unlock your potential. But you have not become more than what you are. You’ve placed yourself right under her boot. Chaos does not give, it only takes. What do you do for her?” he challenged, and then–more pressing, “What does she do for you?”

“Look buddy, I’m not sure what your issue is, but I don’t need anyone. I like the idea of being stronger than I was, and being a part of a group was great. Is great. Whatever. I’m Sapphirine, Negaverse Senshi of Orcas. I got the power of literal killer whales, like…I’m not sure how you can think that this is me being fooled?”
She huffed and flipped her long sheet of black hair so it rippled down her back and crossed her arms over her chest. “I’m supposed to do my job but. I suppose I’m a bit too busy to, but I’m going to work on being better. And as for what she does for me…well!”
…Honestly, she hadn’t actually seen the General Queen since she was brought in, but…that didn’t mean that she did nothing.
“You know. She’s a good boss.”

Orcas? Well, that seemed wrong. She didn’t look like a Senshi of Orcas. She didn’t look like the one he knew.
His head hurt; it wasn’t worth thinking about. Probably just another Negaverse trick. “Lilium would have something to say about that, I think.” But then, she would have been a pale imitation of the Senshi of Orcas.
“Senshi don’t need to be given powers by any Chaos organization. Senshi have that within them. So she’s taking claim for giving you a power you should have had without her. It’s a scam.”
And a group? What benefit did her group have? How was her skin not crawling from the Chaos in her? His skin was crawling, he wanted to tear it off. And throw it at her.
No, that wasn’t a good idea. Sterling would worry. He shouldn’t do that.

Lilium? Who the ******** was Lilium?
“I’m not sure who that is but they can stuff it. I’m the Senshi of Orcas and I can prove it to you if you need.”
Huffing, Sapphirine turned in place, showing off the ridiculous tail on the back of her fuku and spreading her arms wide. “Orca enough for you? And no, she had to since the Senshi need help with awakening.” That was what she had been told, that was what she had believed. Senshi were chosen and brought in by the sovereigns. It was common knowledge.
“I didn’t have the power without her, so I’m not sure how you can think that I wasn’t supposed to have…” She paused and wrinkled her nose, growing a little tongue tied and forgetting what she was trying to say.
“I wasn’t a Senshi until she brought me in.”

Vilenius soured again. "You are daft. And you are ignorant, and you are obstinate and foolish. You don't need her, I've said as much. You'd be yourself without her."
Well, no, he had no idea who she'd be without the Chaos. Obviously she wasn't Lilium, Senshi of Orcas, so he had no idea how Earth managed to wrangle that power. The name was wrong, though. A cheap imitation, no doubt.
"Your outfit is stupid," he snapped, and leaned over to grab a fistful of the fabric tail. He tugged at it, expecting some illusion, but it held fast so he just yanked a few times before he scowled and smacked it away. "You have no purpose taking orders from anyone. A Senshi should bow before no one. And you call her a Queen! Ridiculous."
She didn't even know how foolish she sounded! Were all of these senshi so ignorant? Drenched in darkness and fooled by the simplest lie? Did she not look at all the other Senshi around her and think that she could be like them, too?
"I am standing too close to you, I want to vomit. Your Chaos makes me sick. You feel like spiders are crawling all over you, it's disgusting."

Sapphirine scowled and felt her temper rising. “You know what? You’re an a*****e. You don’t know me. You presume all of these things, you’re acting like you’re the authority on absolutely everything, and I ******** that!”
She had listened enough and now her pride was bruised. “If you want to vomit, then puke, you a*****e. But first? First let me leave you with something to remember me fondly, so you can see the power that I’ve been given and perhaps you’ll understand. Fluke Power Slap!”
There was no waiting to see if the attack worked as intended, she was simply too angry and teleported away from this a*****e before he could say anything else.Kyuseisha no Hikari Sapphirine raises both of her hands and brings them crashing back down to her sides. When the attack is started, it causes a fluke made of senshi magic energy which comes crashing down on an opponent, who is within ten feet of Sapphirine, stunning them for twenty five seconds. This attack can be used twice per battle. The attack may leave the recipient with a headache, or mild disorientation.
