He had finally been released from the infirmary. Finally cleared for recuperation at home and finally given leave to convalesce in his own way (which, they had suspected, was not convalescing at all). No longer willing to wait, Faustite teleported as soon as his discharge papers were sent to his tablet; he hadn't stopped to check any post-discharge instructions that they provided him, nor did he intend to follow any even if he was issued special instructions. He already had more than his fill of exhaustingly boring days in bed.
Faustite appeared just beyond the door, as if he'd let himself in and wiped his shoes on the welcome mat outside. He realized, then, that something was off about his shoes — a quick glance down informed him that his boots were different lengths. Sighing, Faustite simply took them off at the door and padded barefoot into the living room.
The space was devoid of the team, as was normal for an early afternoon. The business types like Borax, Fafnir, and Jadarite were likely taking care of their moneymaking jobs before they did any favors for the Negaverse, just as some of the others were putting in their eight hours or making appointments or visiting friends while the sun was presumably still out. Lilith may have been streaming and Alkmene might've been doing the same, if not out draining energy for the fun of it. Mizuki he expected would be out grabbing more starseeds to fill a quota that had already been filled. It left the chairs empty and the fireplace dark, but Faustite could live with the quietude a little longer.
Padding into the kitchen, Faustite grimaced when he heard his toenails scraping across the stone floor. He reminded himself to ignore it as he started sorting through cupboards and the pantry for a good blend of tea — something that would perfectly take revenge on the shitty Lipton lawn clippings that they tried to give him in the infirmary. For while his boys were kind enough to deliver some of his at-home teas to him, he still wound up with a cup or two of swill.
Once he found the stash, he sighed as he tapped his claws against his bottom lip. The choices were too vast, some days.

Faustite’s new jacket was almost finished, and Celadonite felt when he entered their house, humming softly and sighing as he worked to finish sewing on the last iridescent stone.
It was the most elaborate piece he had ever made, and…it was well deserved. A phoenix on the back of the supple leather with stones that shone just the way his own scales did. THe color shifted from blue and purple to flame red on the wings of the great bird and…
Honestly? It was nothing less than a masterpiece.
And a goodbye gift, not that he would ever let Faustite know that. He wasn’t stupid. But. Well.
…Maybe he was.
Slowly, he looked the jacket over and then folded it gently over his arm and made his way to the kitchen, leaning against the doorframe as he watched his fiance study the stash of tea that was always stocked. “Want some company? I have a gift for you. Really celebrate the new you and all that.”
He was so thankful that Faustite wasn’t gone. Either dead or a youma but. Damn. He really did know that he would never be granted such a boon and…it would simply be better to just…leave while he could. Make his choices while he could. Figure his life out. While he could.

Faustite turned at the sound of the voice, finding Celadonite standing nearby. "Oh." He smiled at the boy. Celadonite was a quiet one. "Thought you might've been asleep."
The weather was turning warm now, which was horrible for Faustite, but undoubtedly pleasant enough for Celadonite that he felt he could stay awake and have hobbies and fulfill his duties as a General again. Seeing him standing there, loosened up, muscles no longer taut and held close together — Faustite thought it had to be so. Or it was the heat that he always brought with him.
The tea was forgotten, for the moment. Sounded like Celadonite had been working on something, and Faustite was always interested to see what the boy came up with, even if he didn't understand it himself. He'd been told enough times that he dressed like a heathen, and of course he acknowledged it, and was unrepentant about it, because fashion simply didn't make sense to him. Youma didn't have fashion, and he spent two years with the naked bastards.
But Cela? He found a way to use his youma half to his advantage, to stay decorated and pristine to the point where, if he were able to reveal himself to the world, people might be showing up at the Negaverse's door begging to become part youma themselves.
"Love your company." He reached for the boy's free hand, bringing him closer. "What've you got?"

“Nah, not sleeping. It’s been warm so I haven’t needed to sleep as much. I’m kind of hoping that I can just stay away the whole summer to…you know. Make up for the winter. It won’t happen but, it’s a good thought.”
He curled his fingers around Faustite’s hand and gave a little smile, holding out the jacket with the other. “Another jacket for you. It’s kind of us with the colors and the vibe but…did the whole phoenix thing since you know…you didn’t die and all that. Plus the fire but. The scales and gems and the purple…that’s me. I don’t know. I thought you’d like it. It’s a bit much, I know but. I think it’s my best work so far.”
Hopefully Faustite thought so, and hopefully he would wear it, it…was really pretty. “I know it’s gaudy, but. I kept us in mind while I worked so. It’s special to me, at least.”
Lifting the males hand, he kissed the back of Faustite's. “I’m so glad that you’re all right.”

"A fine trade. Glad to have you back." Celadonite was still learning what his new normal was, since his new normal now affected the entire year. And it made sense, in hindsight — Destiny City, and subsequently, the Dark Kingdom, didn't afford the type of warm climate that best hosted reptiles. There were other agents who looked more reptilian, too, and he seldom saw them as well; Faustite wondered if the cold intolerance was endemic to that type of youmafied officer.
Except Amazonite, perhaps, since she seemed like an ice dragon. But, as far as he knew, Celadonite didn't have any icy powers. He'd only experienced hypnotism.
When Celadonite described the jacket that he was holding out, Faustite's attention combed over the details. When Cela mentioned the colors, Faustite could spot where the fiery reds and oranges ended and where the purples took up around them. The scales and gems looked sewn in, and when Cela said it was him, he wondered if those scales had been molted off and Cela had been collecting them. Overall, it looked astonishingly well-made, like something Eion would see in a high-end department store that wouldn't even open its doors to him anymore. It was all bespoke in make, and crafted by talent.
"Wait," he urged, then shifted to be Eion. The chill of normal air on normal skin hit him at once, which made him more grateful that his boy made a jacket of it. He turned, then, and slipped the sleeves on, then closed the front, and rolled his shoulders to test exactly how well Cela had tailored it to his size.
Which was perfectly. And it sparkled in the unearthly light of the sunken city. "Wouldn't know gaudy from plain anymore," Eion admitted. Nor did he give a damn if other people thought it was gaudy. It was his and it was made for him by a boy he loved. "It's perfect. And so are you."
He did have to sigh, though, for the relief he felt that he neither became a youma nor had to go through with the White Moon's purification was so immense that he could not express it in words. He got to keep his memories, his identity, his nature as part youma — he received the best possible outcome that he didn't know was possible. Even if they were necessarily last-minute about it, and even if it meant responsibilities, Eion thought the outcome was worth it.
"Feels like we could celebrate about it. Think the team would mind?" Being dragged into another meeting was likely unsavory, but if that meeting was at a fancy restaurant? They might change their minds.

Celadonite grinned as Eion tried the jacket on, and of course it fit perfectly. He doubted that he could make something that didn’t fit the male like a glove…nor would he want to.
“If I may…perhaps we could celebrate about it now? I’m going to be bold and selfish and say that I don’t really care if the team minds, I ant to spend some time with you and going out to dinner or…lunch or…whatever the ******** time it is sounds really good to me.”
He paused and gave an almost sheepish grin. “...And if you weren’t talking about going with just us, I hope that changes your mind and I can just scoop you up, teleport you out of here and we can spend the next few hours doing ******** all out there. What do you say, love?”
It would be nice to just…have some time with Eion. Time never lasted long enough.

Eion nodded at the thought. The two weren't mutually exclusive actions; he could eat with Cela and have a good time in private, then celebrate with the team after. Of course, Cela could come to both if he was so inclined.
So he held his harms out to be carried, then gave Cela an affirmative "I'm waiting." He smiled, feeling a little childish, but that was part of the fun.
And they were allowed to have fun sometimes.

Celadonite grinned and scooped Eion up, chuckling and planting a barrage of kisses down his jaw. “All right then. Perfect. Off we go.” This was going to be lovely and wonderful and hopefully…
Hopefully wouldn’t be forgotten when he was gone. At least it would be one good memory for Faustite to look back on. Cela knew that his fiance needed as many of those as he could get and…
Ah. Damn. He pressed a kiss to the male’s neck and teleported swiftly, wanting to get them up to the city before he started thinking too much. Right now that would do nothing for anyone. Right now they just had to enjoy one another.
While they still could.
