It was starting to upset her to the point that she had an upset stomach for the entire day and couldn’t eat. If you had told Brooklyn a year ago that there would ever be a point that she was stressed out enough to the point she couldn’t eat…she would have laughed in your face and thought you were crazy.
…as it was now, she was honestly feeling that way…and there wasn’t really anyone she could talk to about it. Cara had her own problems and was too young to be able to take her in…she didn’t want to ask Elliot or Atticus if they could do something…it…wasn’t that she thought they wouldn’t…it was more the fact that she didn’t want to be rejected if they said no. It would hurt too much and…
She wasn’t sure that she was strong enough at this moment to handle such a rejection.
Rubbing her eyes, Brooklyn thought about it a little while longer and then decided that maybe Dagon would be a good person to talk to. After all, who could help talk her out of the dread of the upcoming summer than the Senshi of Dread herself, right?
Laying back on her bed, Brooklyn pulled her phone out and opened her text history with Dagon. Or…civilian Dagon. She must have known her name, but right now her mind was a resounding blank, and she stared for a moment, wondering what to say, and with a sigh she started a text.
Quote:
Hey Mom, you wanna hang out today?
Her fingers hit ‘send’ before she had a chance to process the very big, very bold…very embarrassing taboo she had just done…the line she had crossed and violated…ah.
Swiftly, she sent another text. Oh my god, don’t listen to her. That was my roommate being an absolute a**! I do miss you though! And if you did want to hang out I wouldn’t mind!
That…didn’t sound too desperate, right? Not that she…ah. ********. ******** this was so utterly embarrassing.
Quote:
We could go and get ice cream, and I can show you this new dress I got from this really sweet old couple that I’ve been cleaning for and…I don’t know. It might be fun, if you wanted to. I hope to hear back from you soon and I can meet you whenever!
There…that was casual and…awkward as hell. But. What could she do. The texts were sent and that was all there was for them.
Now at least, Brooklyn could take some time getting herself ready in case Dagon agreed to go out with her…and if not…damnit, she’d just get ice cream on her own. Nothing like taking some overpriced sweets to try and fill the gaping hole inside of you, right? That was how life worked?
Well, if it wasn’t how life worked…it would be today.
