He'd been going out more often recently, to gather energy, he wanted to do a bit better for his court. He wasn't the sort to slack off and do nothing, though he was a busy person, but maybe it was the idea of dating a general that had him trying to do more..to do better. No matter the reason he was doing better with going out more often to gather energy. When it came to mirrorscape though...Melpomene hadn't given it much thought and even less time really, he'd never been there, it just wasn't on his mind that much.
Tonight was another night out gathering energy, and again he'd let Aloysius know, so he could get things done before returning home for a late dinner. While his wraith worked over a crowd of people outside a resteraunt, all waiting to get inside he assumed, Melpomene klept toi the shadows of an alleyway and watched. He wasn't about to get too close and be spotted, his uniform stood out far too much, so he was playing it safe.
Leaning back against the brisk wall, tilting his head back, he let the cool night hair ruffle his hair and cool his skin. It felt night tonight and things were looking better in his life...it felt good.

Crocoite knew better than to pick fights with just any random stranger, but that had rarely stopped him before. When he was in as bad a mood as he was tonight, any small transgression, legitimate or perceived, was enough to set him off.
He was a hunter, after all, and he needed prey. Tonight had been very useless so far, and he was out of patience. He had not met any new business associates, had not even gathered all that much energy, and certainly had no starseeds to show for his time out and about.
Wasting time was inexcusable.
Moving away from his usual shadows, he risked a more popular area in an attempt to make up some ground. Now, he sensed someone else was already there, and likely already draining the place dry. Crocoite was immediately territorial, despite not having any stake to this area in the slightest. It was where he was going to hunt, and that was enough to make it his.
He easily spotted the source of the energy, his eyes well adjusted to the darkness already, and moved closer to him with his cane already in hand.
"Enjoying yourself?" he asked, voice low but smooth as he stopped nearby. He kept his cane in front of him, leaning on it without any trace of patience despite his pose. "You look quite... comfortable."

Someone had pinged off his senses but he wasn't too worried, he really didn't have a reason to be. He knew there were those within both factions, order and the Negaverse, who didn't like the dark mirror court and would attack them but that was few and far between as he understood it. It was possible though but he didn't worry about, at least not right away.
When the person turned up he tilted his head and turned toawrds them slowly. "I'm enjoying letting my wraiths gather the energy I need, it is also a good night out." Though it didn't seem like his night was going to remain so good, the other had that cane in front of him like he was ready to put it to use, which he hoped wasn't going to be the case.
There was also something about when they spoke...no Melpomene wasn't liking this right now. Maybe, just maybe, he could defuse this before it got out of hand?
"I can leave if you're planning to drain people here."

"That is what I do not like about you Dark Mirror. You hunt where ever you like, take more than your fair share of the energy, and you have your little pet do all the work for you. It's pathetic, really," Crocoite said, with a feigned, thin attempt at sounding conversational that failed completely.
He tapped the bottom of his cane against the ground, the soft clicks echoing but not traveling very far. It was no longer a conscious thought, but he always had the head of the crocodile that topped his cane facing the opponent he was hunting. Even has he rested his hands on top of it, blocking much of its menacing look, its long snout and carved teeth could at least still be seen.
The Captain grinned, though, at the offer. It was not a friendly grin.
"It's a bit late for that now, don't you think? Sleepy, bumbling targets, or those now on their guard because they feel strange. Not the ideal hunting ground for an apex predator: I don't particularly enjoy leftovers."
After a short pause, he moved his hand down to hold on to the cane itself, the other hand gripping just under the head of the crocodile. He made no further movements, though, for the moment.
"Not when I have fresh prey in my sights, anyway."

As if they had a choice! He might have said something but he was certain it wouldn't work, not on this one. And he wasn't taking that much energy, he really wans't, though as this continued on his wraiths were still out and work. He really hoped he could call them back soon, before they got visible to the waiting people. He knew he was on a crunch here for time, if people saw them it would cause some sort of a scene and a panic.
Oh yeah ,this wasn't good at all, the Captain was planning on going for him. They could, he was certain, go for his energy but he also had the sinking feeling that they might aim for something else. Gulping he pulled out his mirror shards, he really needed to summon them back, he did just that while trying to put some distance between himself and the captain. There were mirrors laid out all about the city, for traveling purposes, but there werne't any close enough to help him here. A captain he knew could teleport...that would be his downfall here.
He could use his magic, he knew, but he had a feeling that it wouldn't go voer well. By the time it wore off this one would likely be even more upset and would find him and teleport. No, his magic would likely make this all worse...a lot worse.
"There are other places on this street." Other restaurants and other places and he really did not want to be the others target.

There were a few things Crocoite had not yet learned about the Dark Mirror, like how they gathered energy with those beings, but that was not in his primary interest at the moment. He was, he distantly remembered, studying all senshi magic, but he would save that interest for another time.
He would need to set up a trap, and force some senshi into using their magic on each other or on something expendable. He would not subject himself to their powers. Especially if they had the potential for being as strong as the Corrupt Senshi he had recently made a pact with.
It was just too much of a risk.
"I'm sure there are, and I'll check them out once I am finished here," the Negaverse soldier said with a mirthless chuckle. He pulled the head of the crocodile, the cane coming free and revealing a thin, sharp sword hidden inside. He had rather liked the way his weapon had upgraded, and looked forward to seeing what it would become when he was at his full power. At present, this would be more than enough to handle things.
He charged, moving to try and stab at the Dark Mirror's legs. His blade was better suited for stabbing, rather than slashing, though it could cut if he was precise. It did not have a lot of weight to it, though, and he did not want to risk breaking it.
Elsewhere, Wezen was sure she felt Chaos nearby. A lot of it, actually, and she was doing her best to follow the auras. She did not like how loud and populated the area was, though, finding it very distracting. It offered way too many things to be curious about, and her attention span was normally not the best. Except when Chaos was involved. She stayed focused on that.

Well, it looked like his plan to compromise, and leave the area, was not going to work. Cursing as the other came for him, aiming to stab in him the damn, he wasn't fast enough as he hadn't been expecting the sudden blade. At best he figured he'd get smacked, a lot, with a cane. But a blade was not expected.
The fabric tore, black and gray giviing way, under the point of the blade and skin gave way nearly as easily. It hurt, the pain that burst through his leg and up wasn't anything he'd ever felt before, he also was certain he'd never made such a sound before. Reaching out for the blade, to try and stop it from progessing further, he ignored the bite of pain which filled him as his hand was torn into. His leg was worse than his hand, at least he was certain of that, he could feel the blood dripping down his leg and how the muscles didn't want to move or work in his leg.
Blinking back the stars and the stron wave of nausia, he really didn't need to vomit right now, he managed to pitch himself forward enough that he could make a swing for the Captain's face. The blade still held, as best he could, so it didn't move and potentially make things worse. He'd need to get it out, somehow, and soon but he really wasn't looking forward to that. He also wasn't looking forward to getting home, to his own place, and dealing with this.
He could not, and would not, let Aloysius know about this. There was little doubt in his mind that the other would not be happy with this. No, he'd handle it once he got home and clean himself up to the best of his own ability. He'd learned to tend to himself while growing up, he'd just put that skill to good use.
His leg, and muscles of his thigh, shook and twitched under his weight and nearly sent him backward as they gave and brought him to the ground.

Crocoite snarled, seeing the blood and feeling his instincts for violence and pain really kicking up a notch. Maybe it was how he had been awakened, but on rare nights he found himself just wanting to cause pain the old fashioned way. To spill blood using his weapon, his strength, and just pure aggression. Not the usual thought and care he put into his plans and deals.
Sometimes it was just nice to hit and stab things. A lingering lesson from his falling and hopefully soon forgotten General.
"What's wrong, Dark Mirror Senshi? You look a bit green," Crocoite laughed. No one nearby seemed to hear them, the crowd dealing with their own collective lives and not heeding the battle taking place in the shadows nearby. "Such a shame. I thought you might be more fun than this. Though, I can't say I'm not enjoying myself-"
He had pulled his sword back and away, getting some distance so he could stab again while gloating, but he was stopped in his tracks at a deathly spectre of a familiar face lunging toward him. He let out a cry, almost falling backwards, though the sudden pain that filled his head and face as the image passed through him had him lurching forward instead.
The unnoticed Deep Space Senshi moved to stand near a face she recognized. It really hurt her brain to see two Chaos beings fighting one another, let alone stepping in to help one of them. She looked down at him, though, and held out her hand toward him. Wezen could see he was bleeding, though she couldn't get him anywhere safe before Crocoite recovered himself.
"If you use your magic on me," she said, looking back over at Crocoite, "and I fight him to protect you, can you escape?" The only time she had ever felt such a strong desire to protect anything was when he had used his magic before. She was hoping it might give her an edge to distract the Captain, despite their power difference.
At the very least, it'd buy time.

A bit green? Yeah he sure as hell felt it too, his stomach was not into this one bit. Lurching to his feet, wibbling and hobbling, with the help suddnely being offered the dark mirror senshi bit down on his bottom lip in pain. With the blade no longer lodged in his leg he was freely bleeding and his vision was darkening around the edges, he felt light headed, and he stared down at his bloody palm for a moment. This was not going to go well. At least he had help, as he took a look to his side and spied a familiar face.
"You're helping me?" He asked her before nodding slowly to her question, it took a moment to really understand what she was asking of him.
"I can use it on you...yeah. And your magic should keep him distracted long enough to let you toss him somewhere." Even if she needed to use her magic a second time on him. it was damn well distracting. "I'll use my magic...just be ready." He answered with a slow nod of his head, he wasn't sure he wanted to move all that fast right now.
Blowing a kiss towards the female senshi he calle dout for his magic. "True Loves Kiss." And hoped it would work, he knew it would do something for this other senshi. "We should meet up in the future, without you having to bail me out of a fight. I'll thank you for the help." Which he was surprised to be recieving. Quote: Super Sailor Scout Attack: True Loves Kiss Again Melpomene will press his fingers to his lips and blow a kiss towards his target (faction doesn't matter) and again, like the last time, a swirl of bleeding heart flowers will be directed towards his target. Upon impact the person will feel an uncontrollable love towards those around them and will not only seek to help them but will even try and protect them - going so far as to put themself in harm's way if the feelings are that strong. This attack can be used twice in battle and lasts forty seconds. *Once he locks onto a person, and blows the kiss, it will hit them even if they move - unless they move out of his five foot range.

Wezen did not think it was necessary to answer the question about helping him. she was definitely helping him, or she would not have attacked that Negaverse Captain. She doubted she would get another shot on him like that again, now that he had seen her attack and was already recovering.
The element of surprise was gone, but she was not scared. She was not scared of anything, really.
Crocoite was on his feet, and he was looking absolutely furious as the two chatted together. He picked up his sword, pointing it at Wezen.
"Just who do you think you are, interrupting my hunt?" He snarled, looking her over. He was surprised to find she was not particularly strong, and she looked just like any other senshi he had seen wandering the streets. The only things that were immediately odd about her were her height and her brightly colored, yet thoroughly dark eyes. She stared at him so directly, he realized she had no fear of him. Was it because of that magic she had used on him? Did she have something else, or was she just planning on using that again?
It was the other one that called an attack, and Crocoite lifted his sword to defend himself. Instead, he found he was not the intended target.
Wezen stood there for a moment, almost as if the same thing that had happened before was happening again. Last time, when he used his power on her she had nearly shut down and was only able to cling to Sinistra for dear life. Now, though, she was ready and willing to protect her target, a surge of emotion bolstering that resolve.
"Get out of here! I'll keep you safe!" She declared, throwing herself at Crocoite and tackling him to make sure the Captain did not give chase.

He didn't want to leave; he really didn't. Sadly though when he put weightg on his leg, especially his full weight, it was not good. His leg was bleeding and he knew he was in bad shape, he was really having an issue the lightheaded feeling and tunnel vision right now.
"Beat him with an object if you must- his own cane even." Came the suggestion before he left as quickly as he could, which wasn't much, he needed a nearby mirror so he could get home. He was going stright home and then powering down, not something he'd normally ever do, but he needed to be home so he could tend to the injuries and get himself some rest.
He hoped he'd run into this senshi again, in the future, so he could check on her and know she was still alive. He sort of owed her really for this.

Wezen was determined to keep Crocoite from chasing after her injured friend. Or at least, that was what the magic she was fueled by told her, and she suddenly had a clearer understanding of what all the emotions tied to that feeling meant. She realized she had felt this way before, especially when she was on patrol with Sinistra and they had to fight their way out of a tight spot. She had just never been able to put all the complicated emotions and thoughts together into a simple understanding like this before.
She wondered if she might be able to find more people who could use similar powers, powers that helped her to better understand human emotions just like this. Except maybe when things were not quite so dangerous.
Crocoite, for his part, was furious and fed up with this whole thing. The encounter was not going his way, so of course he was put in a foul mood because of it. One of his targets had gotten away, and the one that remained was not nearly as interesting.
She held up her hands, focusing on Crocoite and drawing her magic together. She had already cast her magic once, but she knew she could do it again. Still, it's effectiveness against the same opponent might be reduced, if he simply saw the same thing again. Having never tried it, she was unsure if that was the case. Now was the best chance to learn, anyway, and not just because she had no other choices.
"Hologram Ghost!"
She yelled, and to her surprise, her magic hit nothing. Crocoite had teleported away, leaving her blinking as her magic disappeared without impact. She was standing alone, looking around and wondering what had happened. Soon, she felt the effect of the magic that was used on her fading, her racing heart settling to its normal pace. Her mind calmed, and her curiosity waned. She supposed it was just another odd thing to ask Sinistra about.
At the very least, she felt like she had helped someone. Unfortunately, that did not make her feel all that much better about things, as Chaos had not been reduced in any way that night. She supposed the only thing she could do was go home and try again another night.
