This wasn't really news! Strix spent a lot of time irritable and prickly, to the point where there'd been an elaborate injoke in their family at one point about how they were Shadow the Hedgehog. Which... had been kind of funny, admittedly, but they hadn't wanted to admit it. It wasn't their fault that black-and-pink was about half a step from black-and-red; what were they supposed to do, get contacts and hair dye to make their color scheme something lighter and softer?
But they had spent time around people they didn't particularly like, and they'd been extremely normal about it by most people's standards, and now they wanted to get out steam somehow. Snapping at people wasn't any good; the only people they really had meaningful access to right now were people they didn't want to do that to.
But, hey, they were a senshi, right? Not that they'd done much with their magic, but they were supposed to get in fights for the Negaverse. Or something. They'd seen some of what not to do in that huge mess of a battle over Faustite, and they were coordinated enough. So it was fine to take it out on someone they didn't know, who was probably annoying anyway, and who didn't matter.
Whoever she was, she was distracted, anyway, so when Pax passed behind her and reached out to tap her on the back, they kept their incantation bright in their mind. They wanted to see what it did to someone who wasn't expecting it.

sailor scout attack: Pax Reverberation! Pax incants their attack and touches a target. For the next 30 seconds, all noises the target hears and vibrations they experience will begin reverberating within the target, as if their body was a tuning fork; if the target is unable to hear noises, vibrations will suffice. This is painful, disorienting, and makes distinguishing outside noise difficult; it may also cause temporary loss of some proprioception. At player discretion, this attack may result in lingering deep-tissue pain and tinnitus. This attack lasts for 30 seconds.

Demeter was just out here to have a good time and she was feeling so attacked right now!! Like, seriously!! She'd been meaning to try to meet up with Lete again and explain herself, because that was what friends were supposed to do, and yet! And yet!!! Someone had the audacity to walk up to Demeter, minding her own McFreaking business out on the streets, and start trying to shatter her bones apart with some kind of noise magic!!!!
Really rude!!!!! And with no warning, too!!!!
Her entire body vibrated and it seemed like everything just... sort of... shut off. She couldn't hear anything correctly, her teeth felt mega wonky, and she fell to the ground as her balance became disrupted by the vibrations screwing around with her inner ears. Even processing sight became too much for her brain, leaving her at the mercy of whoever had just done this.
Oh! Oh, wow. Huh! That'd hit her really hard. Which was a good data point, if nothing else, but it wasn't as if they could ask her all 'on a scale of one to ten, how bad is your pain'. And they couldn't hit themself with their own magic, either; it just went nowhere, too grounded in their circuit. So it was good to know!
Probably someone else would've felt bad for her, but Pax did not exactly have a lot of empathy or sympathy for strangers even on the best of days, and this was not one of their good days on that front (or on most fronts) (it was pretty bad in most ways, actually!).
"Yikes," Pax said, remarkably unsympathetically, and poked her with one booted foot: not particularly hard, but not particularly softly, either. They didn't mean to kick her, but these weren't exactly ballet slippers; if she got bruises, huh, that sucked for her.
And, hey, while she was down, why not get started on their energy quota? They kneeled down next to her, biting their lip, focusing on pulling energy. Ugh, this was always so annoying to get going...

Demeter grunted at the touch, reaching out to slap at the foot that prodded her, but not getting very far.
Then a thought occurred to her. Maybe she could cancel out this crazy magic by using her own?
"Harvest Sprout," she forced herself to whisper, smiling weakly when the magic sprouted around her. Which was excellent timing, she thought, when the Corrupt Senshi began to drain her.
She did not feel very good at all, even with her own magic at least returning most of her sensory input back to her. The vibrations still clacked at her teeth and bones, but she could focus her eyes again.
Oh, God, how she hated these Negaverse jerks!
"G-Go away," she said weakly.

As she calls her attack and flicks her arm, seeds scatter across the area and give way to little ethereal sprouts that cast healing spores into the air. They can heal small cuts and bruises for allies. This attack lasts for 25 seconds, has a radius of eight feet, and has three uses.
Pax rocked back on their heels a little bit, contemplating it, contemplating her magic. It didn't seem useful, did it? But then again, it wasn't doing anything to them. Maybe it was healing her only?
But it still wasn't very strong healing. Boring. It wasn't like they wanted to get hit by magic, but if she couldn't do anything back, then that was messing it all up, right? She was supposed to fight back. That was how the dynamic was supposed to go. That was the normal path for social situations like these.
"No," they said in response, voice flat. And then they said it again. "Nah."

"Jerk," Demeter said scathingly—at that moment, the magic faded, and she kicked out at Pax's ankles, leaping up to her feet. What to do next? She only had a second to think, and chose that moment to leap up again, heading for the roofs. She scrambled to get on the roof as her jump only barely got her to the edge of it. Clinging on by the tips of her fingers, she wiggled, getting her body up and over the lip of the roof and lay there for a moment, hoping she wouldn't be followed.
Whatever Pax had been hoping to accomplish, or meaning to accomplish, they hadn't been watching her feet; she kicked out at them and they lost their balance with a wordless sound of alarm, wobbling back and falling on their a** before they scrambled to their feet. And they'd dropped their orb! They picked it up again, huffing.
...they should go after her. Objectively they knew that. It was kind of part of their job description, in the sense that they didn't actually have a job description, but it was what Faustite probably would've wanted them to do.
But that wasn't how fights were supposed to go, either, the dynamic wasn't right, and she hadn't fought back for almost all of their magic, so the right flowchart path was just thrown out completely?? What to do, what to do...
...whatever. They'd scare her off or something and then leave. That would get things back in order.
Pax flung themself up the building, pulling themself over the lip of the roof with more grace than they'd expected to -- she should be back up by now, right? They'd been thinking about it for, what, ten seconds? She was up, unless she was really unathletic, that sounded right.

Well, crud, she was followed. Shrieking and flinging roof gravel up at Pax, she scrambled to her feet and jumped over to the next roof.
"Buzz off!" she shouted desperately over her shoulder, dropping into an alley—maybe.... hide in the dumpster?
Thank God, it had been emptied. Ew, ew, ew, ewewewew!!! It still stunk in here!!
