Weird things happened in Destiny City. Lianli knew this very well, and frankly, it had become one of his favorite things about his adoptive hometown since he and Hayden had moved here, years ago. Sometimes, you had situations like the weird gray growths in the city parks with all the dead plants, and they were a huge thing for months and months and weeks before ultimately disappearing and no one acting like this was remotely strange. Other times, you had cuties like the little snow-rabbits who’d come out to play with Líanlí and Taotao one evening in the park.
And tonight, it seemed like the answer was somebody jumping across rooftops. Líanlí spotted her as he ambled out of the brownstone where he’d had a moderately satisfying Grindr hookup. Mr. Right Now had fallen asleep immediately after without saying anything, so Líanlí had borrowed his shower without asking and quietly excused himself (why would he want to hang around until morning when the guy couldn’t be bothered to even give him permission to go clean up? When he could instead return home to the best little baby puppy in the world? Yeah right, not a hard decision).
He was in the middle of blocking the guy on Grindr to avoid any repeats of this s**t when he looked up and saw the strange silhouette, moving faster than Líanlí thought any normal human should’ve been moving (at least while hopping across roofs like that).
Well, now, he had to go check that out.
Reaching under the black Tripp NYC pleated skirt he’d thrown on over his black skinny jeans, he repocketed his phone. Humming pleasantly, he followed the shadow, then took a sharp right into an alley when they didn’t immediately hop to the next roof. Whatever this was, whatever Destiny City weirdness was going on, Lianli wanted to see it for himself.

There were many things that Guinevere loved about being a Senshi. The magic. The cute outfit. The fact that it had brought her Tristan. The ability to absolutely ruin the days of people who were nasty, or who just annoyed her, or whatever. All of those things? Absolutely great.
But Guinevere loved parkour, as Emily, and she loved it even more as Sailor Guinevere, where she had far more ability to jump, run, and otherwise throw herself around.
It was, in a word, awesome.
She stopped at the edge of a building. Judged the jump. Launched herself across it at the opposite wall--but aimed low, so instead of landing ont he roof, her feet smacked into the wall. And with Senshi strength and speed, she could do what she wanted to--which was launch off, hit the other alley wall, and bound her way down to land on the ground, buzzing with adrenaline.
"Ha ha, I knew I could totally do it!"

On the list of things that Lianli expected to see coming down off the roof, a very cute girl in a very cute skirt probably ranked……eh? Somewhere in the middle? Maybe the pretty outstanding series of jumps that she pulled off pushed her closer to the realm of “the physical incarnation of the answer to Life, The Universe, And Everything” or “Johnny Weir, inexplicably but probably for reasons or something” than the realm of, for example, one of the many mysterious monsters who haunted the different locales of Destiny City.
She seemed quite satisfied with herself for pulling that off—and, well, she should’ve been. Lianli’s mind still boggled quite a bit at how she’d done that? Because it truly defied his personal sense of how the laws of physics worked?
Either way, she’d earned some applause. Lianli tried to keep it to a polite volume, because people who lived around here were probably sleeping—but still, the strange roof-jumper in all the flowy ribbons deserved some degree of appreciation here. “You did indeed totally do it,” he said, pausing to wave “hello.” “Are you on some kind of team for that or something?”
Probably, she was actually magical in some capacity. But one never knew with magical beings, maybe she’d get offended by him assuming that she was magical out of hand like that.

Whatever Guinevere was expecting, it wasn't polite applause. She jolted, and spun, and blinked, genuinely more than a bit startled to find someone else there.
No aura. No markers of any faction. This was....oh, this was a civilian,w ho had come up on her doing a cool little magic trick, and, well.
At least he was suitably impressed.
Guinevere put a hand on her hip and grinned, smug and self-satisfied. "No team, no." Well, the Negaverse, but that was a little more than a parkour squad. "Strictly solo. Helps me stay healthy and stretch my legs. Hi, I'm Guinevere, it's very nice to meet you."
He was a civilian. Maybe she could use this as an opportunity to snake a little bonus energy off the top, get herself ahead on her quota. That, certainly, was always helpful, and she could take just enough to get her somewhere without leaving him too tired to get home, or whatever he was doing out this late. He had been impressed by her, after all. It would be rude to knock him out or something like that.

Weird things happened all the time in Destiny City, and maybe that should’ve given Lianli pause about getting any closer to someone he already assumed to be magical. Instead, he wandered into the alley to get a bit closer to her, for the sake of easier conversation. “Nice to meet you too. I’m Lianli,” he told her, innocent as a cabbage and smiling brightly. “And I’d say it’s working out pretty well for you. My cardio doesn’t usually involve all the fun parkour, but……y’know, I have a dog and she couldn’t do that with me.”
That, and Zhihao hadn’t been able to get over the bitchy comments and negative attention of going viral on Vine, for doing something vaguely parkour-adjacent with Hayden and some of their old friends from a Certain School In Massachusetts.…… Which obviously didn’t affect Lianli anymore, because as far as anybody needed to be concerned, Huang Zhihao was dead, long live Lianli Huang, they were obviously not the same person nor in any way related, and Lianli only didn’t do parkour-adjacent things because he couldn’t share them with Taotao. Before that, he hadn’t done them because Hayden had gotten injured and couldn’t do them anymore either. Definitely not because of anything that had happened to Huang Zhihao.
Here in the present moment, Lianli kept smiling, completely oblivious to any potential danger. “Are you alright to get yourself home?”

"Aww, yeah," Guinevere said, and she moved towards the entrance to the alley, which happened to take her over towards Lianli--who seemed very nice, and who she did sort of want to chat with more, but she couldn't waste too much time on things that were Not The Mission when she was out powered up. Someone from the other side might feel her aura, get the wrong idea, and this poor sweet guy would get caught in the middle of a fight, and that would really, really suck for him. "I guess you couldn't do that sort of thing with a dog."
....Getting a dog might be nice, though. Maybe she'd talk to Faeth.
"Anyway, I'm totally good to go home," she said. She moved closer, smiling the whole time. Walked past him. Casually brushed a hand over his arm, and as she went, pulled a little bubble of energy that she quickly tucked away into subspace. He'd notice, probably, but with any luck, he'd think he was just tired. "Anyway, see you!"
She wiggled her fingers. Then, she ran across the street, took a running leap, and leapt onto a rooftop across the way, bounding off into the night.
