He was exhausted--- tear streaked, bloodied, bruised and half beaten down. Empty of all his reserves, but that didn't hardly matter for ******** or all! Because he had to get to Zuzu-bee, his most precious of tiny purple flowers looking bombass and bad as ******** in that new slip of power and he hadn't even gotten to celebrate it with her properly!! Really, no one had. That wasn't fair to her, but people had been *dying* -- even if not technically true it had sure as hell felt that way -- it was like a dying of sorts, wasn't it?

Albite felt everything burn at the back of his eyes for that, tears long since shed and he wondered if they'd ever stop. Figured he had to run out of them at some point, surely? But then the call'd gone out and he'd gotten a call of his own from the ********' plant of all people....

Their daughter was missing. She wasn't answering anything at all, no calls, no texts, no summons through the tablet-pens. He n Planty knew both that they coulda summoned her, but then he'd gotten the brisk, brief rundown of everything that'd happened in the aftermath, and mabye they both knew it'd be better if one of them went out n found her properly instead of rudely yanking her through space n time unawares.

What was it Prehnite'd said? Ah, yeah, that some s**t needed personable touches and to be said to ones face -- that some surprises were too shocking to bear when passed out bluntly like a rain of hammers coming down. Prehnite was busy, with things, with people, his own team and all up in the infirmary with Hylo managing pick-a-bit-of-chaos in the aftermath of it all. The man asking questions and looking pouty that he'd missed out on a sight he didn't actually believe possible!

Apparently he still firmly believed Faustite would've made a stunning whip -- a great heralding beast of fire -- Albite only wanted to break his ankles a teensy, tiny, little bit. Course, that had more to do with the fact that he was feeling on his last legs n all outta humor for the moment (n cause he knew the guy was serious!) which, hindsight? If everything had gone all the way south, albite would've taken whip and burning beast, but right now?

Was that ******** screaming over there....

Oh, yeah, that was the tell tail sound of his bby-girl Zuzu bein extra stabby, for ******** sure it was!

"MIZUKI!!!" shouted hoarsely over the mixed quiet/loud of his own boots cracking pavement n skidding with force into view......his eyes wide, and wide, and wider still; dilatated and dark like pitch to take everything in.

Fuuuccckkkk...I might be in trouble....

He might be the last person she wanted to ever see, but someone had to do something about this!! They had to do it *now*.

The body hit the floor with a flick of her hand, the small crystal of energy held between two fingers. If he'd just stopped screaming, she would have just drained him until he passed out! But no, he had to go about opening his mouth and making noise. Dead, wild eyes turned to his companion who sat frozen on the ground, barely even breathing.

"You won't scream... will you?" she asked, voice sickly sweet. He frantically shook his head as he watched her pop the little gem into her mouth. She held it on her tongue, savored it, contemplated it, all while the poor guy wet his pants in fear.

A rush of emotion surged in her chest. Not grief or sadness or horror but glee and thirst and power. It brought life back to her eyes, life that sparked and spit wildly. That made her feel giddy and drunk and like maybe... just maybe... she should bite down on the little candy gem in her mouth.

"MIZUKI!"

Quick as lightning, the glee drained from her, horror and rage and hate consuming everything in her belly. Boots cracked pavement and skid as Mizuki turned, starseed still in her mouth and terrified civilian forgotten.

Albite.

Offhandedly, almost distantly in her own head, she knew this would happen eventually. She was impressed it took this long for someone of her team to show up. That someone had come to her instead of simply ripping her through space and time to them. She felt a little bit of pride that she warranted this.

She regarded him as though he was a piece of meat. Like he was her next prey and she was planning her attack.

Mizuki flicked the starseed out of her lips briefly, almost teasingly at him, and then sank her teeth into it as murderous intent flared in her eyes.

"You..." she said as raw power flooded her veins, brought color back to her pale cheeks. A hand came up, a lilac petal held between her fingers. "Let him die."

Each step brought her closer to Albite, slow and calculated. He would hurt for what he did. He would drown in his own blood for it. She would serve his soul up to Metallia on a silver platter.

"Drown in your misery, and suffer," she snarled, muttering her magic under her breath and showering him in petals.

Lilac Blossom Dance

An upgrade of her scout attack, this time she showers her enemy with purple lilac blossoms. They bring stronger feelings of loss and longing, disorienting an enemy for 35 seconds and causing feelings of pain in their chest. This has a range of 15 ft and can target up to two people at once. It can be used twice per battle.

Zuzubee —

Her eye’s unrecognizable, feral, wild, the way they were blown with rage and bloodlust for *him*. That was what got him the most, what stalled his heart and set his breath to stutter as it fled his body in a gasp; the way he’d been faced down countless times before by so many an enemy — looked at as food by his husband even.

But this?

“Holyshit—Zuzubee…” he watched the life fade between her lips, the agonizing way it was snuffed out and shattered into edible energy infusing shards. The light that strobed along her face like a dying sun was — for a terrifying instant — the most lovely sight he’d ever seen. At least until the reality of the bodies around them hit him upside the ******** head, she couldn’t be doing this. Plucking souls and swallowing them by half and whole unless she intended to follow Faustite down, and ********, if she thought for sure Faustite was dead, dead, dead!!!

“Zuzu—s’not—“ his words choked free, subdued and strangled in his throat like a clot of bile as the petals swirled round and encased him in the sweetest smelling demise. She came up on him like a lion and he didn’t have it in himself to move, to run, not from Zuzu. His precious girl, his bubbly-baby-buzzy-bee, always so smiley even if it was the kind of grin that cut scalpel deep and bloody every time. She was always lovely — but not like this.

Now? Now she was dangerous and it registered in the back of his brain that he might legitimately be in trouble — enough to call for backup ******** no.

Even as he felt the concrete come up to meet his knees with force; like it was happening to another body, like he was watching himself from some high above distance, bowing around the shock of grief the inhalation of petals renewed. Albite *knew* — he ******** knew — he wouldn’t be calling for anyone tonight. Not against their girl. Either he’d find enough air in his lungs n thoughts in his head to get through to her, or? He’s get what he deserved.

He was on his knees because of her. Mizuki looked down at the man, and cupped his jaw with a hand. Oh... oh she liked seeing someone on their knees for her. Liked seeing someone beneath her and at her whims and wills. She turned his face this way and that, just reveling in the power she had over him.

Nails dug into his jaw as she squeezed it.

"'S'not'... what? Dead? I saw him, Albite. I saw him teleport out. I saw the plan fail. Dead or youma, it's all the same now," she said, dragging those nails down his flesh to draw blood. She toyed with dumping all of her magic into him, to drown him in his own loss.

Ah, but if she did that, she couldn't toy with him like this. Stars did she enjoy toying with him like this.

"Give me one reason I should not serve your starseed up to Metallia, because you... Heliodor... Fafnir... so many of you lead to this. So I will give you one chance, Albite," she said, crouching down and dropping her other hand down to the crack in his chest.

"Just. One."

Albite winced with half lidded eyes, trying to peer up at her through lashes so clung with wet at the corners it might as well have been raining. The hurt distant and distant and distant still ----- Until it came into slow a finely pointed focus, until that focus became pins and needles and a fresh new bladed high for him to bleed out on; suddenly awake and back in his body all the ******** over again.

Present, and here, and holy ******** her nails were sharp the absolute hell!!!

Was the ache in him hours old -- days old -- from where Anakeion had knocked his last shred of sense into next week with a fist full of cold steel; the mottled bruise of a mark throbbed down to the bone where Mizuki touched. Left him hissing with an open draw of breath around each new gasp, for how his jaw ******** creeaaaked beneath her vicious twisting grip. He didn't bother to fight it, nor the way the friendly little light spots said 'hello!' behind his eyes; beckoning him to take a second or third nap. Nah, no reason to fight this at all and lose fillings in his back molars for it, so his head stayed ragdoll-easy to turn as she saw fit because why the ******** would he encourage her to end his a** more quickly?

Even if she was in the right. In so many ways she was right and if he'd cost her what he'd cost her then didn't he deserve exactly this!!!

His beautiful best girl--- Faustites most vicious daughter. Prehnites perfect lady-like lilac who followed orders so ******** well!! He wanted to tell Mizuki himself that he was so ******** proud of her, that Metallia, who she offered him up to with whip-harsh words would've been proud of her for being so ******** strong even when she looked so damn lost to *him*. At least, from his vantage on his knees -- when he looked past all that power surging through her and all that energy shoved into an attack so hard he could've drowned beneath the heart-stopping sorrow and never bothered to surface again.

He looked desperately for the little parts of Mizuki he loved best, whined for how they seemed so hard to find when buried under a murderous high. It was his fault though, part and parcel to the problem.

So it was only right he fix it!

Even when the ghost-like feel of her fingers narrowly grazing the yawning cracks in his center made him flinch and regret he'd done so ******** -- it made the sharp prickle even worse, and the drag of pain more prominent while he grit his teeth to bear them up at her defiantly. Thinking fast had never been his specialty, giving anybody just one thing -- one word -- one reason -- one that didn't fall into ten thousand other instances and paragraphs and pages of things...

He wasn't really good for that.

Not when so many of his words were useless dribble, the mindless yowling of a kicked dog! It felt pointless to waste them on her when Mizuki deserved so much better than him spilling his sounds like she wanted to spill his blood; gallons of it, till every last drop was spent.

Besides? Hadn't he always been better at actions? With them? Commuting to them even if they brought every bit of Damoclese sword down atop his fool head. Didn't actions speak ever louder than his small, echoing mind could scream---

**Faustite, Faustite, Faustite -- I ******** have her -- for the love of ******** -- Zuzu n Me need you to flex that kingly s**t right the hell now n call us backt'youplease! ******** that his mind didn't scream, once he wrangled it into doing more than shaking and sobbing in a minced gelatinous pile. The earring he wore to keep track of his husband even when he wasn't with him (because he couldn't sit in the hospital twentyfourseven but he could still think thoughts and hear them reverbed n rebounded back in that dry n beautiful living tones!!)

"Js'one..." he was so ******** uncareful of how he leaned into her grip, gave her his weight, reached limply to wrap his fingers around her bird-thin-steel wrist --

**Mizuki must've been hitting the gym, ********>

--not to break her hold, but just to hold her, to hold onto something! Anything to ground him at all as his mind cried out for the biggest hail marry he could ever have imagined asking for.

Damn it.

The thought leaked through unbidden. Unfiltered, due to rousing so newly after a nap. <******** damn it.

He hadn't yet woken enough for sense to return to his head; his curses in all their colors owed to the simple fact that he was roused. He hadn't wanted to be roused; Faustite had rather enjoyed his short nap of hardly a half hour, but his boy's mental screeching put a half to it as surely as if Albite was yelling into his ear. He groaned as he sat up, feeling sore as he was dully pained, and struggled to catch up through Albite's word waterfall.

Something something — him and Mizuki — summons? Faustite grunted aloud.

With a slow blink and a dry cough, Faustite beckoned at the air. Strange for how much easier it felt now, like the use of his abilities no longer drained the life out of him. Better yet, they felt like they drained hardly anything at all.

And, he supposed, Albite couldn't say no to a summons from him now. That would seem far more delightful when he was more awake to realize how he might exploit it.

He didn't warn the infirmary that there would be company, nor did he think about it until after the summons was sent. Whatever; they would hear the yelling and decide that it was something worth attending, or that they would get to it later when there were more injuries to patch up or possibly a morgue call to go out. Maybe they'd expect him to deal with it, since it was his problem that he was dragging in the door. However it shook out, Mizuki and Albite would find the space rather confined and minimalist.

She bared her teeth at him, eyes wild and full of rage. His hand wrapped around her wrist and she reached in for that little spark of him that was his whole being. It was so easy to kill him it was almost depressing, all she had to do was pull it out and crush it in her hands. Or her teeth. Or under her heel. He was so damn fragile - they were all so damn fragile - and she hated it she hated it she hated it!

Metallia was supposed to give them power! Why give them power if it could all be taken away with a single little thing!? Why why why----

Something yanked on her and the alley around them vanished. Mizuki snapped her head up, pupils pinpricks of black among the rose. They were in... an infirmary?

"Albite what did you... do...." she said, staring at the man that sat up on the bed in front of them. A man she'd seen become consumed by his own flames.

A man who was very much alive and powerful.

"D-dad?"

Albite winced some bit of pained relief as he looked up, realizing shockily that he still had the ability to look up at her from where he was knelt. Understood that even if he hadn't been down where he was on the cold, sterile floor, that Zuzubee was a little bit taller now, wasn't she? What with the stepped up heels that came with such an upgrade and the amped cut of a design that screamed something just to the left of classy-burlesque. That his little girl simply wasn't anymore, and he found himself admiring the flower of a woman that'd bloomed far more fully than he'd ever thought to realize until right damn *now*; on his knees in an infirmary, with his zuzu-bees hand practically in his chest.

She was theirs though. Always theirs. Always, always, always! Their deadly, perfect daughter. Their pride and joy. So ******** theirs no matter how big she grew, or how vast a network of roots she spread. The negaverses. His. Fausties. The ******** Plant mans. Theirs. Straight up till she had a vicious little murder-pollen team of her own someday!

Albite loved her like his own--- all her raw, unfettered ire. All the ways it threatened to crush his entire existence into glassy-ash. He could've cried, or laughed, or something! But the energy to make any sudden movements, ********-- to make any extra sounds, even? it escaped him like a hiss of steam from a kettle. Slow warning noise and the barest shift of his ruddy gaze between their daughter and where his husband lay. He thought that Faustite sure had taken his sweet ******** time, and he would've teased him about it, all powerful sleepy head. Teased him with the dullest most padded jabs, about how long it took his King to rise outta a dead n healing sleep n snatch them through somewhere into elsewhere --- there was a temptation to try --- easily snuffed considering how ******** grateful he was that Faustite actually had done it. What with the prickle at pain that crossed the edges of flesh, into magical-void-chasm, into his own bedazzled soul.

Zuzu's hand sure as ******** didn't tickle---

And with that in mind he was careful, careful, careful, careful -- as he nudged her wrist gingerly *away*, as he knelt up above the ache caused by petals in the sorest parts of his mind, to wrap an arm around her middle and offer her an *apology* for his weakness, for his failure, for all the ways he loved her so much that he would've simply let her end him if -- if ---

"C's I love you, Zuzu. Always. We both do. S'that reason enough?" wrecked, rusty, truth, he felt so ******** loud in the quiet of machines and the echo chamber the stupid little rooms always felt like to him. Gods he hated hospitals, even as he loved the plague of familiar faces that moved in the periphery and kept an eye on their King, that they hadn't flocked in to start tending till *after* they were sure how many bodies there would be to tend to, whether they'd need to order a casket or three --- "********..." wait, had he agreed to the summons? Was it even a summons? Had Faustite just ******** grabbed his a** through time-space n pulled it here?! "N'wait, ********." and maybe he could hug Zuzu just a little more tightly without losing anything important. He could always try an see!

Faustite huffed as he dragged himself into an upright position. Blankets pooled in his lap around the simple black undershirt that hardly concealed his new scars. That Mizuki was shocked was telling.

"Guessing you left your tablet behind." He understood the necessity behind informing the Negaverse of what happened to him, but in doing so, his promotion felt very permanent. No taking it back now, not when nearly everyone knows he's now supposed to keep up with Axinite and Hessonite and the other General-Sovereigns. The only ones uninformed would be those without a tablet, likely.

"They say I'm fixed. Doubt they're wrong." Not when the upper echelons of the Negaverse had a hand in his fate. "You can stop trying to kill Albite now. Know that if you keep trying, he'll let you succeed," he finished, rolling his eyes.

Albite's question wasn't worth answering, he decided. The boy had visited him inside the infirmary often enough that the nurses knew him by name, mostly to their chagrin. They detested how loudmouthed and boisterous he was in an environment that was supposed to be restful and recuperative, but Faustite had a knack for getting himself nearly killed, and Albite had a knack for sticking to faustite's side as much as possible. To Albite's benefit, though, the nurses had picked up on his love of sugary, fruity drinks and knew to placate him with whatever they could throw together. It kept him still for a while, at least until the sugar hit.

Deciding that sitting up was too difficult, Faustite reclined against his pillows. "Haven't tried summoning you to somewhere I'm not. Could banish you, if you prefer."
