This was definitely a little out of Julian’s comfort zone, but the more he thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed.
He’d been attacked by a monster. He’d awakened with magical powers. He’d been with someone who knew about those powers, and who wanted to help ease him into it.
The night it had first happened was overwhelming and exhausting. He’d slept on it, and might have thought it was all a dream, except Talia texted him.
It was real.
They made plans to meet up at the park for a picnic, and she’d insisted she’d bring something worthwhile–which was good, because he had next to nothing to offer and no savings of his own. He felt bad about relying on her generosity, but she’d been so enthusiastic and excited that he didn’t feel bad. She was so nice, he wasn’t even worried about human trafficking, either. Probably.
He wasn’t exciting enough for that, anyway.
He showed up early because he didn’t have anywhere else to be. He wore a pale blue shirt–long sleeved and looking like it was a carryover from his winter wear. He had well-worn jeans and shoes that looked like they were older than his pants. He had a dark hoodie over there and was tugging at the string while he walked towards their meeting point.
He had a list of questions folded in his pocket, and a pen in case he thought of any more on the way over.
Julian was nervous, but it wasn’t a bad nervousness. He was uncertain and curious, but his enthusiasm was tempered only by caution.

Talia was terribly excited for this and of course she had brought entirely too much food, but that was fine. He was thin and he deserved to be spoiled, she had already decided that and decided that she would do as much spoiling as she could for him.
“Hey! You’re here! I’m here, the food is here…now, this is completely up to you, but would you rather have the picnic here or up on Lysithea itself? I know…well I think I asked you last time but I’m asking again, and yes or no it’s okay, and I have more than enough food either way, so don’t feel pressured at all.”
She was excited to show him Lysithea, but he would see it soon enough, and perhaps this talk should be on Earth but…but it would be safer up on their shared planet.
…Their shared planet! Oh, wow did that ever sound wonderful.
Grinning suddenly, she gave a pleased sigh and looked fondly at the boy. “Whatever you choose, I still utterly adore you.”

Julian looked up and flashed a quick smile, trying to be as friendly as possible. He didn’t want her to think he was ungrateful or not excited for this experience! It was still a bit much, but she was here. And offering to take him to another world.
“Um–well, I’m good with anything,” he insisted, because really, he was.
“I don’t feel pressured.” She seemed like she wanted to go to Lysithea, and if he were being honest, he did too–but he was more interested in choosing the right answer.
Thankfully, he was willing to bet that Lysithea was the right answer, and he felt very lucky that what he wanted overlapped with what was right. Probably. He was still a little nervous.
“I–I’d like to see it, if that’s okay? I brought my list. It might be a little long. I tried to cut it down to only the important things, but it’s still kind of scrambled in my mind. So maybe, I was thinking, if I could see the place I was supposed to–you know, help protect–it might help all of this sink in? Oh–do you need help carrying anything? I can help,” he offered. His arms were free and she’d brought it all up here, he didn’t want her to work any harder than she needed to!

Talia’s grin grew impossibly brighter and she nodded, her gaze growing even more fond. “I would love to take you up there, absolutely. I’m…” The smile dimmed a little as she made a face. “...I don’t…actually know if I’ll be able to take you to your Wonder? That’s…that’s the place that you protect, but I can take you to the Moon itself, it’s so lovely, Julian…”
She paused and shook her head, laughing softly. “My moon, Lysithea. Not the actual Moon, Lysithea is a moon of Jupiter! I have been to our Moon though…I was able to help bring someone out of the Negaverse ah…perhaps that is something better discussed up on Lysithea. I want to see your list of questions too, here, can you please hold the basket for just a moment while I get ready? Then we can head on up!”
Holding the basket out, she smiled brightly. “I hope you like cheese, and sweets. We really did go overboard.”

There was a brief moment when Julian looked worried that he’d misunderstood, but when she said that Lysithea was a moon itself, he relaxed. He took the basket immediately, and made sure his list was tucked deep in his pocket so he couldn’t lose it while they were traveling to another world.
He kept the fact that he was lactose intolerant to himself, but he’d brought his medicine and couldn’t deny that the food she’d packed smelled good already. He hoped his stomach didn’t growl between now and when they started eating.
Oh, he hoped he didn’t eat too much and make her regret this. He really didn’t want her to think poorly of him.
“I want to know everything,” he admitted. He held the basket tightly and shuffled close to her, but he didn’t want to crowd her.
She didn’t seem like she had a spaceship, but ‘How do we get to space’ suddenly jumped up to number one on his list of questions.

Taking a moment to glance around, making sure that they were alone, Talia swiftly made the change to Lysithea and took hold of Julian’s free hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Now, this might feel a little strange, but we are going to be traveling with magic so it only makes sense.” She grinned and drew out her Senshi phone, making sure she had a firm hold on the boy, and he had a firm hold on the basket and then she pressed the home button.
And they were off.
