The petite general had been contacted rather recently, the evening before, by a fellow general. The talk they’d had was rather lengthy, something he wasn’t upset about, as he learned that his fellow general had a younger sister who had recently become a corrupted. From their conversation he learned about the others sister, more than he needed to know really, but he knew to expect her approaching him at some point. Her brother couldn’t work with her, for various reasons, so he was trusting Benitoite to help his sister. He’d make sure she learned and grew as an officer, he’d keep her safe and train her as needed.
He’d told the other that he’d be in his office today, working, and if he wanted to pass that onto his sister he could; and should. He’d be able to meet her here so they could talk, she could decide if she wanted to work with him, and he’d get a better idea of her as well.
He’d planned to work in his office, taking down notes on his plants while listening to classical music playing, Beethoven’s pastoral symphony, it was a favorite piece of his so he didn’t mind as it played out in the background as he took down information. Each numbered plant was measured, weighed, and the like.

Melody followed the directions her brother had given her as she made her way through the hallways of offices and training rooms. Aloysius had told her this general would align more with her viewpoints on things but as she had never met them before. She would see how things went and try to get a measure of this person before making any final decisions on if they would work as a teacher in the long run.
She was still getting used to having long hair in her powered up form, it was not something she really enjoyed having to account for when making her way around town or through brush when on patrol and draining. Just the thought that her brother had willingly kept his hair long put her off it more, that was just too much to deal with on top of everything else.
With a quiet knock, she peaked in the door of the office. Plants covered almost every shelf and surface with soft music playing to them. It was not what she expected to see from what her brother had told her. Maybe this was the wrong office? “General Benitoite?” She called out quietly before entering the office any further.

Nearly hidden between two rows of plants the general’s head of ashen blond hair peeked out, slate eyes taking a moment to glance over her. “Music notes again…fate is amusing at times.” Considering his own uniform was decorated with ivy, and he clearly had a thing for plants. “Come in and close the door, I’d rather not have others prying into what I do with my spare time.”
It wasn’t like he was hiding anything, not really, but he didn’t care to deal with others all that much either. He tended to keep to his small little team and that was it, he didn’t need others really, his little team he trusted and knew well. They were his little circle of power and he didn’t need others; this was an exception.
“Melody, right?” Stepping out from where he was, notebook in hand, he snapped it closed and set it on his table. The pen he’d had, for note taking, was set down as well. “Your brother told me to expect you, have a seat.”

Melody nodded and walked in before closing the door as instructed. The general who stood before her was very short, but still slightly taller than she was. She looked down at her attire. “I guess it is very apparent that we are siblings isn’t it? Especially with all this.” She gestured to her long braid that she was still getting used to, it was a bother and got in the way more than she would like to admit.
“What did he say so far? I would like to avoid repeating what may have been said already by Chalcathite, for efficiency's sake of course.” She nodded as she took a seat and folded her hands politely in her lap on top of her long braid. It laid mostly in her lap as well to avoid dragging on the floor. “I do enjoy your choice in music, as an aside.”

“I’ve always wondered if the randomness of our uniforms is less random than we think. Something out there, whatever it is which decides upon our attire, knows us as well as we know ourselves if not better.” And thus decided what they would each wear whilst serving chaos, and perhaps order as well.
Coming round to his own seat he sat himself down, even drawing his legs up and under himself, as he got comfortable. “He told me you aren’t much for diplomacy, which I can get on board with most of the time. I find I like to verbally spar with some of order at the same time…but that’s personal preference. I still aim to kill, since I can’t personally corrupt them and most are too ingrained to want to leave.” Shaking his head as he spoke. Such a sad thing. Some of them, their magic more than them as people, would be useful to have on their side.
“He’s not the sort to go right for the skill; it’s why he suggested you see me.” Shrugging a bit as he ran his fingers through his ashen hair, tucking his loose bangs behind his ears. “I’ve been around long enough to have experience and to have done my fair share of damage to the opposition.” Leaning back in his seat he tilted his head back and smiled. “I find I prefer classical music to peoples poor attempts at music now a days.” He was glad she approved, not many would. Many might see someone his age preferring classical as something odd.

Melody nodded as she listened, taking in what he said and liking it so far. Straight to the point though killing was something she had some reservations on still. Though she wasn’t opposed to fighting at this point in time. “Yes I would say I am more… direct as it were. Quite different from my brother though that’s for reasons outside of this matter. He also told me to come to you as there have been some… odd issues with my magic since it came to me much later than others. Much later than his as well. At times it is like my skills do nothing, other times it’s as if it has ramped up so much my own ears are going to burst.”
She shuddered thinking back to her attempts at figuring out how her powers worked and almost blowing out her ears as well as shattering windows. “It would be helpful to figure out what is going on and if it can be fixed maybe? I feel very unstable when it comes to this and I know it would be risky to really get into the fray alone while my magic is like this. I would like some help if you know anything about that?”

“I'd rather be direct, it’s quicker, than beating around the bush. If I think there is hope, or a way I can wriggle in on someone, and bring them to our side - I will try. Don’t get me wrong…I’d rather add another fighter to outside, to my own team, if I can. But most..” Shaking his head again, his words trailing off. “Hopeless.” But he’d try if he thought it might help. He also liked to get some of his opponents worked up…they stoped thinking straight and slipped up.
“Hmmm, wonky magic. I’ve heard it can happen to senshi who awaken late. You’d fall into the category. It’s something I believe with time, and practice, it will fix but in the meantime you should have someone else with you when you go out. Not knowing if your magic will do anything, or leave you stranded, is not how anyone should go out to conduct business. It’ll get you killed.” And that was a very real possibility considering this was war, however it may seem. Sometimes it really did seem to be at a standstill, with nothing going on, it was like two sides just glaring at each other but no one doing a damn thing.
This war was going to see him to old age, and perhaps death due to old age, it was a rather miserable thing to think about. To pass this war down to another generation…utter nonsense, they should just find a way to finish it. Call in for more troops from elsewhere, they had the human resources, but it seemed they were being left to deal with it on their own and with their own people.
“I can go out, as well as others on my team, to collect energy with you. It’s for the best anyway since you are a low ranked senshi. Order members with higher rank might seek out out, especially those who lean more towards a bit of violence and death.” Such as himself, he knew of a few such senshi and knights. “I also have a mauvian who lives with me…she can help you as well if you need anything. Katya, if you can get her nose out of a book, is very useful and caring towards her own.”

“I can understand how difficult it could be with those from the other side. Standing steadfast one way or another like an immovable object versus an unstoppable force.” In a way there was such a war between her and her brother. They had grown apart and had vastly different viewpoints. Though both thought less of people and their motives in most cases. At least her brother used to be less trusting until things he would not discuss occurred. She had seen her fair share of fights and dirty tricks used by family to turn everyone against each other with knives out and at the ready.
“I think that would work, yes, at least until I can figure this all out. Anyone with me would need earplugs or something I think, unless they want to go deaf and have their ears bleeding. Sound is quite a force it would seem so far.” Her ears still had the faintest ghost ringing to them as she thought about it.
“I would love to meet more Mauvians, the one I met at first was quite nice. I feel like it would be beneficial to meet more of them and also get aid in general from you and your team if you are alright with that?” She had slipped into a bit more formal speech pattern just like her brother used. It disgusted her but it was a habit they both had while walking on eggshells before the fall of the house of Sharp.

“I’ll keep that in mind and let my team know, so anyone going out with you will be prepared.” He’d make sure everyone had ear plugs, even if had to buy them himself for everyone, he wasn’t above mothering his team even if they didn’t know it. He didn’t mother hen in the same way most people figured it, most mothers didn’t actually carry weapons and threaten to kill those who hurt their children, but he did care for his team and he showed it in his own ways.
“I can introduce you to Katya, she’ll like to have another corrupt senshi to tend to. Most of my team are officers, rather than senshi, so she’ll like the addition I’m sure.” A smile as he shifted his weight, got comfortable again, and leaned forward a bit. “I’ll have to introduce you to the team. I have it so everyone knows everyone…that way if anyone is in trouble, or on a mission of sorts, they have someone they can always count on.” He’d rather like to think of his team as a bit of a family. He wanted them all to know each other and learn other members strengths and weaknesses, to build bonds.
“I have two with medical training as well. If you ever need it they are available to help.” He’d make sure she got their information, though he didn’t know the corrupt senshi well he knew she tended to drift about his General.
“I’ve built a bit of a mixed team…some with medical knowledge who will, if need be, fall back and offer that support. Others are more the sort to fight…some more than others.” He was thinking of a particular corrupt senshi when he trailed off, he’d need to check in on her soon. “I want some balance in my team.” Which he’d lost as he’d lost people. He was working to reclaim that balance, while still keeping a small team.

“That sounds lovely, I think this is a great start. Even with this sort of magical handicap I did sort of hit the ground running in a way so I look forward to meeting other like minded individuals.” Whether or not she could truly trust everyone would be determined later but she returned his smile with a bit of shyness. It would take time for her to warm up to them on a personal level but on a professional level she could play nice as it were.
Otherwise she was still cold and abrasive to most people. “I guess if it helps, I am able to create sort of a bubble of sound that can disorient and otherwise distract everyone within that area. Of course with it being wonky, sometimes it does nothing and other times it could maybe burst ear drums with the sound. So take that as you will, though I’m very good and improvising which is another take that as you will thing.”
There weren’t too many other questions she had so far given the fact that she was already looking into some of the requirements and things she would need to do as someone in the negaverse. Most of her questions had been answered by the Mauvian, her brother, Liam, and the database she had access to.

“Hmmm.” Thinking it over, her magic, he nodded slowly. “That could certainly be useful, a good distraction isn’t something I’d turn my nose up at. They can be rather useful, as much as working someone up to the point they rage and make mistakes.” Leave openings and slip up, all because they are too caught up in their feelings and anger. “I’m sure we can find good uses for that magic.” She might not be a killer yet, unlike most in his team, but that was fine. If she was going to find up a killer she would in time, it would just happen, if it never did that was fine as well. She’d work well with his team either way.
“If you need to find me..” Trailing off as he grabbed his notebook, and pen, he flipped to the back and tore the page out. His name was written down followed by his address. “If I don’t answer the door it’s fine. My cousin lives with me and my partner is over often. One is a captain and the other a corrupt senshi such as yourself. You can always let them know who you are. I like to make my home accessible to my team in case they need anything, even if it’s just a place to come and vent.” Or a place to hide or heal up. He supported his team well, at least he thought so.

That seemed a bit risky to give out personal information like that, especially given there is a war going on. He must really be a force to be reckoned with or just doesn’t care about the risks. She took the paper and nodded as she contemplated a few things. “If it also helps for formality’s sake, Aoede is my name if you’d prefer that. At least for now I would like to keep things separate as I work on finishing up some important business that I would prefer to go off without a hitch. I am still currently getting used to the city as well given I have only just moved back into it.”
It had only been a year or so since she moved permanently into the city to finish her undergrad and start her grad school program. Her thoughts trailed off for a moment. “Ah, my brother has a similar situation with his partner. So I guess I’m used to that for when I do stop in. I think I will take my leave now though and I truly appreciate the information and direction. I have a few matters to attend to and some more reading up on things as well. You can reach out to me through our communicator thing right? I’m still getting used to it but it’s pretty handy. If not, here's my number as well.” She spoke it out quietly and evenly so she wouldn’t have to repeat it.
“Thank you for your time and have a good day General.” She bowed after standing and made her way out, thinking all the while about how smoothly things were going. It would be nice to rely on people again in the future, when she was ready to try trusting people in that way.
