Name: Jason Everleigh

Gender/Pronoun: he/him

Age: 14

Birthday: September 14, 2008

Sign: Virgo

Gemstone: Sapphire

Blood Type: A+

Fav. Food: anything new

Hated Food: everything that's given him food poisoning

School/Occupation: Hillworth

Hobbies:

exploring outdoors: Jason take every given chance to be outside running around, free and unsupervised. He loves finding small secrets and hidey holes that natures has to offer, as well as simply being outside and Vibing. Something much easier in the small town of Bailey than a big city like DC. Thankfully the city does have a lot of parks and is only a couple of bus rides away from the mountains.

chess: Taught by his grandparents, Jason took to chess at a very young age, leading him to being kidnapped by the town's bored elderly every week or so to play with them. He like being able to plan ahead and set traps, and see where his opponent is trying to trick him. It's satisfying to be able to successfully predict the future, even if it's just a single move in a single game. It's also satisfying to be tricked, to learn from someone outsmarting him. To a certain degree he likes online games for this as well, but flashy graphics just can't replace the feeling of a piece in hand, sliding and clicking against the board.

trying new recipes: Jason's sense of adventure spills into food as well, and while he likes to taste new things, he likes trying to use new and strange ingredients, techniques, and gadgets as well. Sometimes it's just a matter of trying out something he saw on YouTube, while other times he tries to invent new foods himself. He has a very determined mindset when it comes to cooking, so if things start to look less than ideal, he uses the More Is More strategy of throwing everything he has at the mounting disaster. He feels that, like with chess, he will definitely learn from any failures and be an even better chef next time he tries.

Virtues:

protective: Jason doesn't stand back when he sees someone he cares about being insulted, bullied, or even just vaguely threatened with a mean look. He is inserting himself between his people and any menacing outsiders, looming unpleasantness, or hurt feelings. He generally assumes that he's more able to take any hits than anyone he cares about, so it's his role to do so.

outgoing: Liking to stay active, try new things, and comfortable taking the lead in doing so makes Jason a fairly outgoing person. Especially if it seems like the people around him are hanging back, he'll be more compelled to take whatever plunge seems needed. He's the foirst to make friends with the new kid, First to ask someone to dance in the awkward first minutes of middle school dances. First of the non-nerds to walk up to the front of the class to give his crappy book report.

strategic: Jason is very good at getting the results he wants, eventually. He's patient and observant of who or what will be involved in the lead up to those results. Who needs nudging, where to ask for too much in order to get the other party to talk him down to exactly what he wants, when the most effective window of opportunity has begun to close. Up until now, this has mostly been seen when it comes to getting his parents to get him and Luke certain gifts, how to engineer certain family vacations while making their parents think it was all their idea, and of course, the playground politics of children and tweens.

Flaws:

overconfident: Jason is pretty sure he knows best, is capable of the most, and will definitely be successful at whatever his tries, given enough time and learning. He doesn't brag about these things, or even puts this mentality in words much at all really. It's all in his actions, his persistence, his way of listening to people while wholly ignoring their reasoning in favor of his own.

stubborn: One of the greatest problems with his chess game is that sometimes he becomes so enamored with an idea, that he refuses to adapt when necessary and instead tries to force the game to adapt to his strategy. In cooking, a large part of why the results are often inedible is because he refuses to back up or slow his momentum in the kitchen, and instead doubles down on what he was doing wrong. This flaw is a very in the moment problem, and given time and space away from a situation, he'll learn from that specific mistake, but rarely admitting "I was too stubborn then".

vindictive: A lot of Jason's protectiveness involves simply putting himself between the people he cares about and whatever problem is in front of them. But he doesn't forget the source of those problems, and he rarely forgives. It didn't happen too many times in Bailey, but there are certain schoolyard bullies and one neighborhood adult with a cruel streak, who learned a very quiet, very effective lesson well after they committed their perceived crimes.
