Naeria, after her last excursion, was feeling more comfortable with going into town to buy food for the house. She remembered the word groceries now, and with luck would not end up in the kitchen section of the mall instead of in a more suitable place.

She put on her wolf ears, since that had worked as a disguise before, but instead of the full outfit, she put on a simple shirt and leggings with a mushroom print.

As she was walking through the city disguised, tapping around on one of the human phones, though, trying to find a specific small, local grocery store that said it had many vegan options, a lot of pictures of food were showing up on the screen. There were crisp vegetables. There were soft breads.

She could smell bread, too. Her mouth was watering.

Had humans discovered how to transmit smells through screens?

Oh. No. Looking up, Aria saw that the smell was actually coming from a nearby building. Bakery, said the sign. That sounded different, but she was sure that there was food in there. Putting down the phone, Aria made her way inside.

"Hello," she said, walking up to the counter. Her eyes flicked around the many products that were on display, and it took her longer than it should have to murmur, "You sell... bread?"

"Croissants?"

That sounded promising. She wasn't opposed to sweets in the way that some of her friends were, but she tended to like savory foods more, and when she looked over the labels in the display case, the croissant, the twisted, crescent, bread, did look delicious.

Although, there was always an important question to ask.

"Are they vegan?"

Documentaries on the dark sides of Earth's agriculture industries had been one of the first things that Aria had watched, once they'd been settled into the house and she'd figured out streaming. Some of her other priorities might have shifted since she'd arrived on this planet, but she still wasn't going to eat anything that came from cruelty to sentient creatures.

She glanced across the rest of the case, suddenly suspicious. She saw some custards and creams, which were usually a bad sign.

"Is anything vegan?"
