Langite was proficient with his duties…when he had to be. Gathering energy was easy, even if it was a bit boring at times. He didn’t…dislike it but…he wished that it could simply be done from the comfort of his home and he could just…get it done all the more easily.
Alas. Such was not the case.
If he could get the job done quickly...then he could go home and engage in more…satisfactory activities. That was the only reason he was out here. The only reason he was bothering to try. “Ah.” The feeling of an aura, a weaker aura made Langite almost smile, and with a flourish of his robes, he moved towards it, humming softly.
When the figure came into view he raised his eyebrows and took in the uniform with mild amusement, taking a moment to already begin to drain energy. Thank goodness he didn’t have to be touching them anymore. That at least made this bearable. Well. More bearable.
“Should you really be out alone? Something bad could happen to you, you know. Something like me.”
One hand was held behind his back, and the small ball of energy was gathering in it, hidden from view. “You’re too weak to be alone, don’t you think?”

Casablanca was not exactly intimidating, she knew that. She was small, in her cute little sparkly outfit, with her little piece of cloth, and there was simply no way that she would strike anyone as dangerous.
And yet. She had a duty, as a Knight, to protect this city.
So she went out. And this time, when she felt an aura that made her skin crawl, she went towards it, instead of away.
And when she found him, she squared her shoulders, wrapped her little flag in her hands, and stared him down like she was far more intimidating than she was,
"I can handle you," she said, firmly, and she really, honestly believed it. She would find a way. She'd make it happen.
...Even if she was starting to feel...tired. Ugh, maybe she'd been cutting into her sleep too much, between patrols and college.
"And I'm not weak. Ugh, you're a total a*****e, you know that?"

Langite put on an expression of surprise, even though he ended up smirking, a little. “Why am I a total a*****e? I’m only here concerned for your wellbeing. I’m not completely violent but I know that there are those who are. You’re simply a page, you have…” He continued draining her energy and felt the ball growing in his hand, the smirk evening out into a more charming sort of smile as he took a step closer to her.
“...Is that a handkerchief for a weapon? What will you do? Wipe my nose with it? What can you do that could stop someone with a weapon that could cut you in half? I Yearn to hear your answer little miss.”
The smile grew just a bit more wicked as he set forth his attack, and then just waited, slipping the energy he had taken into subspace and half wondering if he should just go all the way and come back with a starseed too.Noir Songbird I Yearn. Langite looks at his target and then closes his eyes and looks away, and a powerful feeling of longing comes over them. The feeling of wanting, needing something that is just out of reach. Will cause chest pains or utterly unwanted tears. It is a good distraction, can affect up to three people who are within a ten foot range, and lasts for thirty five seconds. Two Uses.

Okay, yeah, Casablanca was definitely starting to feel tired. She wobbled a little on her feet, but took a deep breath, and crossed her arms, and tried to pretend that she wasn't feeling suddenly exhausted.
"I don't believe you. You're making fun of me because you think you're so big and strong with your weird magic and your....your...."
She wobbled. Hissed.
Felt like she was suddenly being punched in the gut with how much she wanted. Wanted....to be taken seriously? To be stronger? She wasn't sure. But it felt like a weigh ton her chest, and it just made her more angry.
"Stop ******** making fun of me! I can tell when I'm being mocked, I'm not ******** stupid!" Why was she tearing up? This was so ridiculous! "Fight me and I'll--I'll show you exactly what I can do with this!"
Or with her fists. Or her heels.
She stomped forward, and swung her fist right at his stupid face.

Langite laughed, shaking his head slightly and grabbing her wrist, twisting her so that her arm was behind her back as he held her against his chest. “Fool. That’s what you long for? You truly are pathetic. I think I’ll add your starseed to my.” Well. It wasn’t a collection. He didn’t take them often but…Langite supposed that calling it a collection sounded rather impressive…
“Collection. I hope that it shines brightly. You sure don’t.”
Reaching his free hand out, he plucked the pathetic weapon she held and tossed it to the ground, crushing it under his foot before he threw the Page to the ground too and kicked the piece of white fabric at her. “Say your prayers and close your eyes. Your time on this world has ended.”

Okay, well, Casablanca was....definitely outmatched. He caught her punch so easily, and now--now she was at the mercy of a monster who could rip people's souls out of their chests.
There was nothing she could do except tense up and wait, as he yanked her weapon away and threw her on the ground.
"You've got no idea what I long for," she growled. There was so much she wanted. Recognition, acknowledgement....and all of it was always out of reach for a struggling ex-foster kid just trying to get by.
But he didn't need to know that.
And there was one thing she could say for sure--she refused to die here. Not to some arrogant jerk who thought he got to throw her around just because he was big and scary.
And when he kicked her little cloth back towards her, she reached for it, determined to find a way to keep fighting. She had to keep fighting.
As her fingers closed around it, it changed.
And so did she.

With her hands wrapped around her new staff, Casablanca shifted her grip, and aimed the round cap atop the flag for her attacker. She'd show him exactly who was pathetic.

Langite realized that he had made a mistake when he watched the crumpled messy piece of fabric change into something new. Realized just how bad his mistake was when she changed as well as her weapon.
…Realized that this was no longer an unfair fight and that he no longer wanted to be involved in it. There was no point in a fight where he wasn’t sure if he could win or not. “Pathetic.” Was all that he could say, and as she came at him with her new, shiny staff, he took a step backwards and vanished.
Teleporting was a skill that she would never have, and he did. And it had been a success regardless. He had her energy and that was enough.
For now.

He vanished. Right out oft he arc of her new, shiny staff, he vanished! And he was calling her pathetic?
"Yeah!" She shouted, just in case he was still close enough to hear. "You better run! Don't like even odds, huh?"
Not that there was much point yelling into the night, but it made her feel good.
But with the initial adrenaline rush from her powerup gone, Casablanca wavered on her feet.
Ugh, she was so tired....she'd just have to go home and get some sleep, and patrol more tomorrow.
