It's the ocean. It's a lot of water.

Cloud Strife

"All right everyone, let's mosey."

The trucks had arrived to Icicle Inn shortly after Barret had said they would, and several trucks were able to transport the Avalanche members stranded there towards the shore of the continent. It was a long ride with several in the beds of the trucks, but they'd soon come to a port. And conveniently enough, not only was there a ship about to leave, but it was a large, vacation cruise which had just stopped here for some sightseeing. "...I'm Cloud Strife, and we're Avalanche. We'd like passage on your ship." Cloud explained after they all became aware of the situation.
"Am I supposed to know who that is?" The captain of the ship asked incredulously. "We're pretty booked, so it's gonna cost a lot of extra."

"Relax, they're with me." Barret said as he walked up, flashing a grin.
"Heyy, there he is!" The captain laughed, high fiving Barret. "Well s**t, any friend of Barret's a friend'a mine. Welcome aboard!"
"That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! It pays to have connections, spike! Hahaha!" Barret strolled on up the ramp onto the cruise ship with his typical high energy laughter.

Cloud's expression couldn't be much more blank. "Guess Barret's pretty popular." Here he thought his name had SOME weight to it after everything that had happened, but he supposed the actions of his party weren't exactly the most widespread common knowledge. Barret had done a lot of traveling ever since they defeated Sephiroth, so it made sense he had made some friends along the way. He could also assume Barret had gotten to Icicle Inn on this particular cruise, which explained the incredible convenience that it was here already. "All right everyone, let's mosey."
"Do you even think before you talk, Cloud?" It was like he was asking to be made fun of. But it really was just Cloud being Cloud... "That Eula girl gives her commands in a much more manly way than you do."
"I probably make love to women in a more manly way too." Eula said without missing a beat, striding on past them confidently and walking up the ramp.
"...Pfft, hahaha! Oh, we have GOT to make her a permanent member." Zack said between laughs, taking Aerith by the hand and leading her up the ramp.
"........." Cloud sighed heavily. "Let's mosey guys..." He muttered in apparent despair as the others from the mission made their way up the ramp past him.

"Hey! " Tifa gave a rather terrifying glare into Zack's direction. "Saying things in a 'tougher' way isn't going to make someone more manly. In other words, that makes Cloud the most manly here! " Well, of the men, that was, she wasn't about to try to make a joke about Eula, even she knew better then to do that! Meanwhile, Yanfei kind of lost her thoughts for a brief lived moment, having stopped the moment those words left Eula's mouth. Why was she suddenly blushing so madly? After the rather embarrassing confession not going exactly as she hoped, it only made hearing that little statement more intense! "..." Letting herself fall a bit behind, she pretended to wait for Barbara to start on her way up the ramp, at least to give her some time to let the blushing fade! "Finally, something pays off on this trip of demon terrors.." Yuffie was not a happy camper, to so easily be defeated before she could even really try, oh, it certainly hit her pride as a ninja. Wutai would certainly look down on her if they knew that! Then there was Lissa, walking closely alongside Robin, after the incident against a certain powerful demon he had to experience, she was feeling rather protective of him. "Are you sure this is a good idea? What happens if that 'man' comes back? I feel like we would be trapped in there, like fish in a tin can! "

"It's showtime!"

"Come on now, you'll break my heart." Joker lightly teased Yuffie as she spoke in such a flat tone of voice. After Robin had woken up first, it had ended up with Ren and Yuffie practically cuddling until they woke up. And since they woke up around the same time, it was quite the scene. Ren didn't exactly fluster easily, so he was having fun playing with her about the whole ordeal. He did dislike that he was taken down by the demon, but he resolved to do better going forward. One couldn't win every battle, and that was something Joker knew well.
"Lissa, you don't need to hover so close to me. I'm not in any danger right now..." Robin said following a small chuckle. "Though I'm touched to know how much you care." Given they were married, that should probably be a given, though. And really, he didn't mind it... "Well, we don't have many options except either use the ship, or stay here freezing. If that demon shows up again, I think we'll be better prepared. Ephraim's spear should work on him, right?" He glanced at Ephraim, who gave an affirmative nod.
"It was created to destroy demons, and I can say from experience since coming to this world that it works on more than just the monsters from my world."
"Well, there you have it. Worst case scenario, we run and hide behind Ephraim!" He said with a measure of playfulness. "Though I won't let him hurt you, Lissa. I don't care what I have to do--I will protect you." Strategically speaking, retreat may end up being the best option if Vergil showed up again, but depending on the situation, Robin may have to stand and fight. He wouldn't let that man hurt Lissa. After Ephraim went on ahead, Robin paused a moment. "...It's incredible every time I think about it. The Restoration King." he muttered. "Do you remember, Lissa? We encountered Ephraim and several others as Einherjar cards. They were echoes of so many heroes of legend when we met them, but now one really fights alongside us. Not as a legend, but as the man he was before. It's a little overwhelming, in a way. I wonder who else may have come to this world? Could the Hero King Marth be here? Ike, the Radiant Hero? There are so many possibilities, I-" He realized he was going on a little too much on this point. "...Er, anyway, we should probably go on the ship." He probably sounded like some kind of fanboy nerd the more he spoke, he just couldn't help but think of the potential. Even the Einherjar, which were just echoes of their spirits, had such power--and from what he had seen, Ephraim in this world was incredibly impressive in battle. If all the Einherjar gathered in this world, he almost felt like Selene could be dealt with comfortably. But perhaps even that was wishful thinking...
"It's fine, Tifa..." Cloud said flatly. "Let's just go." Poor Cloud, he somehow ended up being the punching bag a lot of the time, it felt like. Perhaps that was common for the "leaders" of groups.
Shortly after the last of Avalanche's people boarded, the ship would raise anchor and begin their voyage. "Y'know, we didn't get many people on this cruise, so it's actually pretty fortunate you happened upon us. We've got lots of room!" The captain said with a hearty laughter.
"Didn't you say before you were "pretty booked"...?" So that was just a lie to try to extort more money off them, until Barret vouched for them. Cloud guessed he shouldn't be surprised about that.

"....." Yuffie turned her head to look at him, giving him a look. But before she opened her mouth to speak, an idea came to her head, an idea that brought forth a small grin from the young ninja."I know, I am amazing to wake up next to, aren't I? ....I won't tell Futaba if you won't.." Oh, it was now the teasing war. Who would break down first? Herself, or the JOKER! "I wasn't there to heal you because -someone- wanted me to stay at the airship. Well! This time, I'm staying close. My job is to heal everyone, not run away and hide. " Strategist he may be, but this time, if something did actually happen where Robin was targeted, she wouldn't be running away! "...We could also stay close to Ephraim for the rest of this trip. " Hearing those words of encouragement only made things worse, it seemed! Ephraim might end up kidnapped by Lissa to ensure they stayed safe! "Hee,hee..That sounds like a good plan too! " She said with a smile, whatever worked best,so long as they were around Ephraim and his trusty spear, they were probably safe. Her cutesy little smile grew with his next words, "Let's protect each other, you know we are only stronger together! " She leaned up a bit, placing a cute soft kiss to his cheek.
After that little moment shared, Lissa nodded her head."There are a lot of surprises I never would have expected since coming to this world. I think anything is possible, I mean, we have demons coming into the world, all this evil may draw more of those hero's here. If they aren't already. " She grinned at him. "You sound so excited! It's to cute! " In the next few moments, they began to head their way to the ship, passing Cloud and Tifa along the way.
"It's not fine with me, Cloud! " He had so much fight in him in a true battle when it involved swords and magic, but he sure didn't carry that fight with him vocally. "They may be teasing you as friends, but it still doesn't feel right to me. " Teases could only go for so long! Finally, as everyone was boarded and the ship began to sail, her attention would be brought to the captain when he spoke. "I think Barret would like to know how you tried to get more money off us. " He would receive the second most terrifying gaze, the first one probably Barret's face if he became angry at him!

Cloud Strife

"All right everyone, let's mosey."

It had been around a half hour or so since the cruise's departure from the norther continent, and the air was already growing considerably warmer. For the members of Avalanche who had to trek through the snow for several hours to reach Icicle Inn, it was quite the welcome relief. But in Cloud's mind, it may have been a little TOO welcome, as several of the members had already switched to swimming attire and were either hanging around the pool or swimming around in it themselves. "Don't you all think you're being a little too casual? We are still on a mission."
"You need to relax." Zack, who was in swimming trunks with sunglasses and was sprawled on one of the lounging chairs, looking incredibly comfortable with his hands behind his head, said casually. "I never made the most out of my vacations back when I was alive the first time y'know, but being dead really makes you appreciate taking the moments to relax when you can. Or something like that. Just sit down, bud."
"No." Zack shrugged in response, and Cloud rolled his eyes, turning and walking away from the pool are. Though some of the members were here, several had relocated to other areas of the cruise--it was a very luxury cruise, fully stocked with a bar, a ballroom with a fancy dining area, multiple pools, arcades, and many other fun activities to play around with. Really, getting in free was pretty amazing, even Cloud had to admit. Barret had some real connections.
He sat at the bar, motioning for a drink. Man, the air conditioning felt really nice after spending a bit too long in the sun, trying to warm up. The entire inside was so fancy, too. Not the kind of place he was used to. The bar he was most familiar with had been a backwater place stuck in the slums. The bar was just one part of this large indoor room though. It was a luxury cruise indeed, and he felt the luxury. And since so few people had comparatively booked, they had most of the place to themselves, though obviously there were several other guests around too. And most of them were friendly! That was one of the biggest surprises. It was just such a nice, chill atmosphere.

"You shouldn't drink on the job," Eula's voice broke Cloud from his thoughts, as she downed her shot glass before planting it back down on the bar, sitting several seats away from him and having been here when he arrived.
"You're right about that," Cloud agreed, throwing back his shot the second it was put down. "Give me something harder." He told the bartender, who quickly went to work doing exactly that. "Have you seen Ephraim? I don't think he was by the pool."
Eula shook her head. "Probably trying to pick a fight with the other guests to train." She said sarcastically as the bartender refilled her drink. ""New fighting styles" and all that." Yes, he did tend to prefer to fight people with unique styles to expose himself to more abilities. She quickly downed her next shot, planting the glass back on the bar. "I'll be back." She told the bartender, sighing as she stood up and stepped away from the bar. She'd like to drink more, but she really didn't want to get flat out hammered here, in the company of people she barely knew. It was mortifying enough when the Traveler had spoken to her while she was particularly drunk one day. Ugh... even remembering how low her guard was now made her cringe. She wasn't the type to be open about her insecurities, needless to say, but drinking could loosen one's inhibitions.
And besides, she'd rather be mostly aware while she spent time with Yanfei, once she found her.

Shaking her head, L'Arachel took a step away from the railing where she stood at the bow of the ship, over looking the waters. It was quite a beautiful sight, and even several dolphins could be seen jumping from the waters, keeping up with the ship as though it were some kind of fun game of chase. "I should try to enjoy this time too! " It wasn't every day this pleasant, luxurious time came upon them, but still, there was something that just kept bothering her! Ever since they left the port, she had this nagging feeling in her gut that something was off, and her thoughts seemed to instantly go right to her children. They left them safe, along with several others in the castle of Marvel City, and if anything happened, surly some Serentiain would warn them. Still, there was always that mothers intuition, a paranoia no parent could escape. With everything going on, it was a little surprising everyone was so calm and relaxed. ...She probably should stop worrying! Turning away now, she started to walk her way on the deck. This cruise ship was so massive, she didn't even know where to go, or where everything actually was. Come to think of it, she didn't even know where her husband was! Wow, that was pretty bad. She could start by looking for him, that would definitely ease her mind.
"Ohh! " Yanfei's eyes practically lit up in excitement, she had somehow stumbled into the arcade room in the maze of the massive cruiseship, it was SO colorful, so brightly lit of neon colors, the flooring even seemed to be glowing as black lights surrounded most of the area. It was..very..colorful and a mood lifter for sure. They didn't have anything like this in her world, so Yanfei's excitement to just the look of this area could be expected! There was so many strange games here, none of which she understood how to play, though she did see another guest sitting on a strange mechanical object, with a giant screen in front of them. A racing game, of course. There was another game of sorts which had many cute toys inside a giant clear glass casing, and a giant claw inside. She noticed the controls on the outside, but would find herself in disappointment when she was unable to play without the required coins. "I would avoid that one, those games are sooo rigged. I lost tons of coins on this jerk! Ugh. I hate catcher games..it's just not possible to win a single toy.." Yuffie said as she came up from behind her. The toys were all mostly soft stuffed animals, some even cute little chocobo's, and even a mini tonberry! "Here, uh, do you know what to do? I'm good with most games but these, so if you want some help...look no further but the best----Me! " She dropped a good amount of coins into Yanfei's hand.

"I know I must place my duty as a commander above my life as a man. And once I am crowned, I most certainly will do exactly that.
However, I am not ready to divorce myself from my compassion just yet. I will find the balance somehow, the means to save my country and her people.
That is the king I wish to become, and so that is the man I must be."

Ephraim wasn't far from L'Arachel, not necessarily by purpose, though he would obviously prefer to be close to her. He had left the company of his comrades for a particular purpose, and when L'Arachel would happen upon him, she may notice his somewhat wary expression until he saw her. "Ah... L'Arachel." He received her with a smile, though he still didn't seem terribly comfortable. "This is my second time at sea... it doesn't feel any more comfortable the second time." He admitted, which was not something he tended to admit to just anyone. As he had told Myrrh once, he had to always appear capable given he was commander, but he had become better about letting L'Arachel in... slowly. It was difficult for him, having grown as Eirika's strong older brother. He had always had a strong front, and kept everyone at an arm's length away. "I don't suppose you remember the first time? It's almost nostalgic, meeting you here. If only there were some mogalls to stab, it would really take me back." Yes, he certainly remembered well--he and L'Arachel had actually formally met on that same voyage he spoke of. Though it was mostly in the middle of dealing with an entire ship packed with monsters between their two vessels. He still remembered well carving a path through the monsters to reach her and Dozla. "The accommodations on this vessel are much more lavish than what we used at the time, though. What say you accompany me for a sort of date? There hasn't been much time to spend together lately, and we'd be foolish not to capitalize on this opportunity. Besides, I won't grow accustomed to the sea without getting in some activity, and I think it's fair for a husband to want to spoil his wife every now and then. Shall we?" He held out his arm with a gentle smile for her to take, either to hold his hand or interlock their arms, it was her choice. Though if she really wanted to be spoiled, she could always request to be carried...

"..Oh..! " Well, she didn't have to go looking to far, did she? She didn't even realize herself, just how close he actually was, though her attention wasn't exactly on the occupants of the ship, but the ocean all around them. At least until now. "Ephraim.." She returned a soft smile, closing the distance between them a bit as she walked over to stand there in front of him a moment. "Are you alright? " She glanced off to the side, out towards the open sea ahead of them, then back to him a moment later. "Oh, do you not like to be on a ship at sea? ..If you feel ill, why don't we go inside? There seems to be so much to this ship, it might help to take your mind off of things. " She paused again, a playful look coming to her vibrant lime-green eyes. "Though, you should feel great in my company! Fantastic, even! You are in the best company to ever exist, you know! " Smiling that playful smile of hers, she nodded her head softly. "How could I forget such an eventful meeting? I still remember thinking how amazing you were as you made your way to me and Dozia. " Maybe she didn't show her interest then, but she was very much so.
"Oh, I couldn't agree more to this idea. Peace doesn't last very long around here, we better enjoy every little bit of it that we can together! " There was no better way, if they could just have this entire trip back home to their selves, it would be perfect. It seemed everyone else was quite occupier, too. So, they might just get that wish of a peaceful date together. Interlocking his offered arm, L'Arachel gave him another smile. "I am spoiled anytime I'm with you.."

It was already nightfall, yet the little cruise was still quite as lively as ever, the night air on the other hand, was quite chilly, to chilly now to swim in the regular pool, but not so cold that she couldn't enjoy the heated pool next to it! How lucky for her to find a swim suit in the gift shop? What a strange ship this was. Then again, this world was pretty change all together! As she settled down into the warm toasty water, sitting at the steps so the water was just above her chest, she let out a soft sigh. This was practically heaven, the best thing she experienced since finding herself stuck in this world! She was the only one in the pool, strangely enough. No one seemed to like the heated water. They were missing out..instead, the deck was still pretty crowded with other passengers enjoying the night air and the simple walk along the deck. It really was very peaceful, and with the moonlight shining down, it was even quite beautiful paired with the billions of stars twinkling in the night sky.
