For once the weather was fair enough (at least in her books) that Nevaeh didn't mind the fact that once again it seemed like her venturing out was only going to be a solo affair. None of those that she had called her friends were willing to step out in such windy conditions. Nevaeh was one to just tie down her hair in order to keep it out of her face and enjoy what Mother Nature had to offer. Besides the wind didn't always keep blowing and there were enough lulls in between gusts that she could sit and pull out her book of Sudoku puzzles to keep her occupied. It just meant that her head was bent over her current page as she tapped the end of her pen thoughtfully against her lips as she was mentally calculating what numbers were needed to fill in the row she was currently working on.

She lifted her gaze towards the cloud-filled sky before putting pen and book down in order to stretch. Tight-fit jeans and a loose sweater covered by a mid-length size coat warded off most of whatever chill was carried in on the wind gusts and Nevaeh glanced around before pulling out a pair of gloves before picking her pen and book back up. The beginning of March seemingly was coming in like a lion and she was all for the craziness of the weather but she also wasn't foolish enough to be unprepared if things turned dour. In a pack that sat currently a few feet away contained the standard supplies for such a day. Snacks, an umbrella that was easy to store in her pack ... and money in case she needed an alternative way to return home. But other than that ... she was just minding her own business and hoping that those that did brave the elements would do the same.

In fact it didn't seem as if anyone were sharing the small sized playground structure that she currently sat utilizing as a bench in order to at least get away from the strain of working out what she was supposed to be doing: applying for college/university. Her mother was the most insistent one barking at her about it but she had balked at doing the task this day. Really ... there was a process in which Nevaeh wanted to take and having a parent nag was just, very very distracting.

Remarque didn’t usually just waltz up to civilians with any sort of confidence that they could be senshi–that they’d have any use for Mirorrspace beyond a quick drain. Usually, he played his cards right–sent on a wraith to make a few quick darts before he called it back. At this hour, who would have noticed if they suddenly felt a bit sleepy?

He didn’t want this one asleep, though.

With reliable intel–at least, if you trusted a Chaos Mauvian–he had every reason to believe that she was an unawakened Senshi.

Which meant, he needed to move now, before any other Mauvian could find her. He didn’t want to lose anyone to the White Moon–or the Negaverse, either.

She seemed like she was keen to mind her own business, which was always a bit of a deterrent, but he wasn’t really shy about meeting new people.

Though he arrived from her right, maybe a bit out of sight at first, he made no effort to conceal his footsteps.

The weather was nice for now but he didn’t trust that it was going to stay like this. The sky looked like it wanted to split open, and he was pretty sure the temperature had already started dropping.

“You look like you’ve got the weight of the world on your shoulders,” he mused. “Something bothering you?”

There had been a time, not so long ago, that Nevaeh would have ignored anyone dressed as oddly as this character was. Instead of telling the guy off though Nevaeh gave a final check to her current Sudoku puzzle before slipping her pen into the crease and shoving both items into her bag. That done she turned her attention fully to the one that had dared to address her. Okay, oddly dressed was an understatement but at the same time she had to admit that she couldn't find fault with the general flare of the outfit. It actually looked rather dashing. Allowing herself a moment to think back on what had been asked and stated Nevaeh gave her head a shake.

"No, it's not the weight of the world but just fair weather friends, who can't stand a little of this not so fair weather we're experiencing is all. I mean we make plans and everything and they get all whiny about a small bit of wind," here Nevaeh glanced upwards towards the overcast sky before feeling what she believed to be a raindrop pelt her face. She reached for her bag to dig out her umbrella to keep it handy in case the solitary drop of rain brought along its own friends, "and possibly some rain."

Standing now Nevaeh reached over to grab her bag in order to shoulder it properly before snagging the umbrella. "Also I have someone nagging at me to do something that I don't care to do at the moment. It's not weight of the world type stuff, but near bad enough, ya know?" She glanced back over towards the stranger to see if her chattering was having any effect. If you weren't certain of someone's attentions, Nevaeh had learned occasionally that presenting oneself as a constant chatterer was a good strategy to have people lose interest. Would it work on this stranger though was the question. He for sure didn't dress like your average citizen of Destiny City and she flashed back to reports in the papers of costumed citizens causing mayhem. Bold of him to approach directly, gotta wonder what it all means, was the thought that ran through her mind. "So, anything I can help you with?"

If there wasn't, maybe even if there was, Nevaeh wasn't sure what her next move would be, yet.

Remarque listened without any sort of deterrent. He seemed interested in what she had to say, and it didn’t look like he was in any hurry to get out of here.

Well, depending on what the weather did in the next few minutes.

He didn’t look up at the sky to contemplate it, but instead watched her as she spoke and nodded along occasionally.

“Well, you seem like you need better friends. Doesn’t have to be the weight of the world to be enough to bring a person down. I’ve had my fair share of people trying to drag me down just so they could get on top of things.”

He wasn’t here to get into his own personal affairs, though. He was far more interested in her--and her potential.

“As a matter of fact, though, there might be something you can help me with. I’m looking to recruit. And you should hear me out. It’s dangerous out there. Especially if you don’t have people you can rely on. It’s only going to get more dangerous. So I’m looking for people to help me weather the storm. And I think you’d be a good candidate. I don’t expect you to believe in magic, if someone came up to me with an offer like this, I’d probably think they were crazy. Except, I can prove that I’m not. And I can prove that there’s a world out there unlike anything you’ve ever known. I just want to know if you’re interested. In being a part of something bigger. In keeping yourself safe, keeping Destiny City safe. In making a real difference in the universe.”

So chattering hadn't really dissuaded this stranger from effectively getting bored and leaving. Nevaeh had been surprised to note that whomever he was, he had been interested enough in what she was saying to comment back and that might have made this random encounter even more interesting. She in turn listened to what he had replied with in respect to her complaints about her friends and how the problems at home weren't weight of the world type things. Nevaeh gave a small impressed sound before checking the status of the sky again. No further drops of rain had fallen yet but she kept her umbrella in hand lest things change and in a hurry. Upon realizing that the stranger was speaking again Nevaeh's gaze flicked back to him.

So there was something she could do to help him? What was it going to be: directions or something as easy to deal with?

Upon further listening though Nevaeh began to frown and she didn't bother to hide it from present company. Recruiting, magic, being kept safe, keeping the city safe? Just what was going on here?

Snapping the release on her umbrella did Nevaeh consider the offer that was dangled in front of her. It was just all too tempting to walk away and ignore whatever this stranger was trying to recruit for. But something held her feet fast to the one spot as she went over his words more carefully. The main fact that, in the recesses of her mind, she knew that the city wasn't one-hundred percent safe. There were always stories and rumors swirling around and Nevaeh had even experienced some odd happenings herself. She'd never told anyone but maybe this was what the man meant. Feeling another drop of rain splash on top of her hair did Nevaeh extend the umbrella to its fullest extent before glancing sidelong to the one beside her. "I'm torn in trying to decide whether or not to ask for this proof of magic that you dangle so temptingly in front of me or just walking away, and honestly it's a tough call. Maybe you can help clear up some more confusion though," she swept the umbrella over her head before using her free hand to point to her chest, "what makes you think I'm a good candidate for your cause? For whatever you are trying to recruit for. And how would it keep me safe, keep the city safe and make a real difference in the universe?"

The corner of Remarque’s lip twitched. He was always happy to find someone eager and willing to join the Dark Mirror Court–enthusiasm was welcome and encouraged.

He was happy to find someone who was good at critical thinking, too. It usually meant they’d be less tempted by lies and falsehoods.

She was going to want proof, and answers.

He had both.

Remarque stood up and brushed his hands down the front of his uniform–and then, that changed as if beneath his touch. He shifted from his Eternal form to his Prince form, and along with the changes to his outfit, a pair of great black wings sprouted from his back. He held up one arm and when he gestured with his hand, a large, full sized mirror manifested out of thin air.

So, proof first.

And then, answers. “Because you’ve got the same power in you that I have in me. It won’t awaken naturally, you need a little help to get it activated. But, I can feel the power in you, waiting to be set free.”

Well, not quite. The Mauvian had told him, but that was a whole other conversation to get into and was better left for after she was recruited. “With it, you’ll be able to defend against all those things that lurk in the night. You’ll be stronger than the average person. More resilient. You’ll have access to a realm they can only dream of.”

He nodded to the mirror but didn’t take his eyes off of her.

“With that power, you can protect the people closest to you. Maybe you can save this world. Maybe you can help me build another one. There are dangers out there you can’t even begin to imagine. You’re in the middle of a war and you don’t even know it. You can be fodder or you can be a fighter, it’s your call.”

Well if she wanted proof of magic she guess she could admit to herself that it was there. I mean the outfit could be considered a quick-change thing but from I've read they're kind of rare, was her mental thought on the man's outfit reveal. The wings were a nice touch which gave Nevaeh a moment of pause. If they were just part of an elaborate costume change well she had to give the stranger props. But, and a small nagging voice cautioned her now, if they were real, then what had she gotten herself into?

The sight of a rather impressive full-length mirror simply materializing out of nowhere sealed the deal that perhaps this encounter wasn't one of the run of the mill normal run-ins that people had in Destiny City ... but then again, maybe it was and she just was so out of the loop that she didn't know what was trending anymore. Nevaeh's grip on her umbrella's handle was the only indication that she was more than just a little unnerved at the demonstration of proof that magic existed. But that didn't seem to be the end of anything for the man was speaking again and Nevaeh let herself hear everything that he was saying.

The fact that he left off with the option of being either fodder or fighter had her giving her head an inquisitive tilt as she considered things. Her voice had a thoughtful tone to it as she mused, "So I assume that if it's a war that is being fought then there are at least two sides to said war. I take it if you mention 'building another world' that you might imply that you want nothing to do with the battle being fought over this one? Am I close in my assumption?"

Nevaeh's gaze shifted to take in the mirror again. It's surface appeared to be black in nature and she took her attention away from the man before her to inspect it a little more thoroughly as it just seemed to stay in one place. "Weird that it just sits there, aren't you worried that others will see it?"

Neveah spun around to face her mystery man before indicating the mirror that was now behind her with a thumb jerked over her shoulder. "If I said I'm intrigued by the offer does that mirror have something to do with the process in which you will activate my power so that I'll be like you?"

A smile twitched onto Remarque’s face. “You have good questions. I like that.”

He wanted the Dark Mirror Court to flourish, so maybe he would have taken anyone he could and been happy, but a good head on her shoulders was icing on the cake.

“I don’t make a habit of worrying. If someone sees it, they see it. The mirror has everything to do with the offer I’m giving you. It’s where I get my power from, and where you’d get yours, too. I’m part of the Dark Mirror Court. I think the name’s a little explanatory.”

He gestured to the dark glass. “Your assumption is correct. Both sides fancy themselves better than the other, but the truth is that they’re both wrong. They’ve been waging this war for years and they’re not going to stop any time soon. Everyone thinks they’re the hero, but when you’re on the outside you can see it for what it really is. It’s a long story, but I’ll fill you in on everything later. That parts always easier once you get a better idea of what I’m talking about. If you’re interested, it’s easy. Step up to the mirror. It’ll open, like a door. All you have to do is walk through. It’ll be dark, at first. You’ll see a light. Head towards it. While you’re in there, you might hear a voice–a name. The source of your power, it’s a namesake you’ll use to protect your identity. It’s a lot to swallow, I know. But it’s worth it. You’ll see.”

As the other continued to talk Nevaeh had been taking in all that was being mentioned. At the same time she was giving side-long glances towards the mirror, almost as if she were expecting it to: a) disappear or b) suddenly smack into her. Although if what she was interpreting correctly, the mirror wouldn't smash into her, she had to willingly walk into the mirror for this power inside of her to be unlocked. That was certainly a new method in which one could unlock mystical powers but it held a little bit of charm and mystique to everything that had occurred so far. In hearing the name of the group that this individual claimed to be a part of did Nevaeh merely raise an eyebrow in return. Dark Mirror Court, she guessed that the name was fitting enough but now was the time to decide if she really felt like going through with this motion of accepting the stranger's offer. And he is so very much still a stranger for he hasn't even divulged his name. Then again I haven't given him a name to call me by yet either. Nevaeh once more glanced to the mirror that was still just suspended before them before sighing. If I go through with this I suppose I'll have to give two names. But I don't like the sound of the other options that have been laid out before me. Being offered the choice to be on the outside of this war sounds a lot more appealing then being caught in the middle of it.

It was almost as if her thoughts alone compelled her to move closer to the surface of the black mirror. Her gaze swung back to the one who was apparently offering her a way out of this so-called war that was being fought before she inhaled deeply and then exhaled. On that gradual release of breath did Nevaeh reach out to place her hand on the reflective surface of the mirror only to experience the surface rippling beneath her touch. With the surface beneath her hand giving way Nevaeh halted her motion for a moment before pushing forward again. In her mind the choice was already willingly made. A few seconds later found the young woman disappearing from sight as she passed through the entirety of the mirror's surface to vanish from sight.

How is this at all feasible. Walking through mirrors shouldn't be possible and yet here I am. Guess instead of just standing around in the dark I should find this light that he spoke of. What did he say about hearing a name? Almost as soon as that mental question had been thought did Nevaeh see a glimmer of light that indicated where she needed to head towards and she concentrated on keeping herself upright even as she strained to catch the slightest whispers that would give clue to what name she was trying to hear. As she neared the source of the light did a single word drift by, seemingly on a puff of wind, that she caught before she stumbled out of the darkness and right back where she had started from. Except now she felt the weight of more cloth settling over her and she frowned as she caught the sight of the black layers of fabric that now ensconced her frame. She lifted a hand to brush aside the sheer veil that had materialized in front of her eyes before turning around to glance for the mirror. What was with this outfit? The layers of black, the veil. I look like a goddamn widow. What the hell?

She turned to face the stranger, who now seemed to flood the area with an immense aura, "Guess this outfit change makes me like you. Any chance you can fill me in now? I believe I heard the name Irenaea before I emerged from the mirror. But a name doesn't provide much context, does it?"

Remarque took in her appearance quickly, and memorized her name. There were other questions he had, but she was here, now.

In the Dark Mirror Court.

And, she had plenty of questions, herself.

“No, it doesn’t. I’ll fill you in on everything you need to know. It’s a long list, but. Let’s walk and talk. I’ll give you the whole run down. And a tour of Mirrorspace.”

The night was still young. There was a lot to cover.

Irenaea was still contemplating her new outfit change when the fact came up that she hadn't even learned the name of the one that had effectively recruited her. That'd have to change as soon as possible. In fact, right now seemed like a good time to address the situation.

"It seems convenient, you know, you knowing my name but keeping yours to yourself. I can't keep thinking of you as "the man or the stranger" considering that you are likely none of those now, when it comes to who I am as Irenaea."

She paused before grabbing up her abandoned pack and umbrella before looking around. It still seemed as if no one else was daring to brave the elements and she figured it'd be okay to be seen like this, until her new friend explained otherwise.

fin, for now, and I would assume that Remarque would give his name out to Irenaea since she's prompting for it.

Remarque laughed softly and shook his head. “Fair. I only like to give out my name when I know it’s worth sharing.”

And, after she’d come out of that mirror as Irenaea, he knew she was worth it.

“I’m Remarque. Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry. Let’s get out of here, I’ve got a lot to teach you.”

The night was still young. They had plenty of time to make good use of it.

A name was only the beginning. He wanted to show her everything the Court had to offer.

Irenaea thought that the name Remarque had given her, along with the rest of his title was only fair. There was something nagging at the back of her mind that with her name had come some other little nugget of information. It just seemed to be lost in the whirlwind of intrigue that had settled over her. Instead of concentrating on what it was, Irenaea instead allowed Remarque to lead her away from the place where it seemed her life had changed quite suddenly. With a quick pause she rushed back to grab her belongings before resuming what would probably be another life-changing discussion.

Her thoughts were focused on at least trying to pay attention but one stray thought made her chuckle softly: Never did I believe life could throw me such a curve in one little span of an afternoon ... but heh, it is a Tuesday after all.
