[ Urika 1 ] Their forest was alive. It was the way the wind blew through the leaves, the creatures singing across the night, the water rushing in the distance. All of it made the forest seem like it was breathing, living, and speaking to the young girl. Urika found it so alluring and often got lost amongst the trees, a trait she learned was common for an Aishan daughter. While her skin might not be the same shade as her cousins, her soul still sung out to the tune of Aisha's lulliby. And today, she found herself once again moving through the woods in their back yard toward a clearing she had found when she was younger. Corra had to be close, they often were together at such a young age, and she was curious to see what her twin wanted to get into today.

Corra closed her eyes against the brightness of the sun. The small clearing she was in was one of the sunnier spots in Jauhar, the ground was covered in grass and the morning dew had just dried away. She was already laying down, enjoying the feeling of the soft grass and dull blue moss on her skin. They said if she stayed out in the sun too long it would hurt her eyes, but that was hard for her to believe and harder for her to care without proof.
The twins liked to slip away and play without the prying eyes of the village elders so she had no doubt that Urika would be there soon. It was their go to spot.

[ Urika 2 ] Arriving in their clearing, Urika smiled at the sight of her sister lingering in the sunlight. "Corra!" She said brightly, walking through the soft grasses that also attempted to soak up the sunlight, she moved to flop down next to her mirror and stretched out just the same. " Knew I'd find you here."

Corra opened one eye, looking over to Urika against the bright sun before squinting them closed again. "Yeah, I knew you'd be here too. Call me psychic." She quipped out. Her grin cracked her face and she stretched in the sun before rolling over onto her belly.
"So what're we gonna do today?" She asked her twin. It was one of their days off from their schooling and they tended to spend them together most of the time.

A pout crossed her face at the jib before she let it slip away. It was more of a playful gesture, as she knew from their 'twin senses' that it was nothing to take personally. Corra was simply that type of teaser, whereas Urika was a softer sort.
Rolling to her side to look at her sister, the grasses tickling her cheek, she let out a low hum and narrowed her eyes, "I heard there's a visitor in the village...a Vandrea traveling to see Aisha..."

Corra's brows furrowed when her sister told her who was in town. It was interesting news, she hadn't seen a Vandrea in person. She had only heard about them from her momma and some of the older alkidike in town.
"A vandrea..." She trailed off. "You wanna go check it out? What would they want with Aisha anyways?" She questioned out loud not really expecting an answer. The vandrea had their own tree, but Corra guessed that their tree was better. Why else would a cousin come all this way?

If their mother raised them to be anything, it was curious. And Urika, for as shy she was, was a curious child through and through. She sat up fully and nodded once, her dreads bouncing as she smiled with excitement.
"I do! And maybe they want to visit the great mother? I mean she is their grandmother...right?" She was still young and wasn't as familiar with the whole politics around the trees, so she pictured it like one big family.
"I wouldn't mind meeting their tree..."

Corra paused to think about it only for a second before she shrugged her shoulders and stuck out her tongue. "Grandmother doesn't sound right, but whatever. I don't know." She wasn't about to speculate about the grand nature of things, but they were related, and that was what counted.
"I wonder what their tree looks like." Corra mused. They had never been to see Aisha besides when they came out of their flowers, but their mother Niabi had told them enough about it for her to imagine. And besides, she had eyes. She could see what a Jauharan tree looked like so she could already tell what Aisha looked like.
"Let's go see the vandrea." She jumped up from where she was laying on the ground and patted the grass and dirt off of herself.

She deflated at the comment of it not sounding right, her brow furrowing as she considered an alternative option. She didn't know what made sense...simply that Aisha was their great mother as much as Niabi and Amarone were their true mothers. Bitting on her lip a moment, she pulled out of her thoughts at her sister's follow up question.
She didn't really know what Aisha looked like, let alone the others.
"Probably big...but not as big?" She said quickly, since Aisha was the oldest. Before jumping up too to quickly follow after her sister, a smile back on her face as she was eager to see the other Aishan.

Corra could see Urika's mood shift and gave her a light tap on the arm to try to cheer her up a bit. It was just pure guesses right? "I bet it's still small. That's why they all want to come over here. What do you think?" She offered back to Urika. It would make sense if Aisha was way more impressive.
Corra grabbed Urika's hand and led the way back toward the village. They darted over roots and through bushes, trying to be as quick as they could manage and before long they were on the outskirts of the market square. "Do you know what she was supposed to be? She would stick out right?" She asked her sister.

That had to be it. Her mothers had never seen the other trees as far as she knew. They were close, but then they decided to ask for blooms and came back from Kahikina. Urika wouldn't have minded seeing the beach, considering the stories she heard. It sounded peaceful. She let out an answering hum before taking her sister's hand in return and rushing along.
They were like two reflections of each other, and someone watching them pass might have noticed the different hairstyles over the slightly different markings. But they were twins, tide and true, and rarely were seen apart.
Slowing down, she dropped her sister's hand, "I think so..." She chirped uncertainly, "I heard they are like a tree...like their skin is the color of bark and their hair is like leaves."

Corra tried to imagine what a vandrea would look like from that description and she imagined something beautiful and dark. “Do you think they have vines in their hair all the time?” She asked her sister. She imagined the vines some of the alkidike grew when they became so strong and wise that Aisha blessed them. Maybe the vandrea had that all the time since they already looked like trees.

Her eyes widenened and she nodded, "They have to!" She added with an eager grin, "I've heard sisters have vines in their hair, they must all have them. Maybe they grow as large as trees there?"
She was imagining like a child would, picturing a giant woman not unlike how many seemed around her.
"So where would a vine-lady be?" She asked as she stood on her toes to give her a few more inches to look around.

Corra shrugged her shoulders, using a nearby tree to stand on her tippiest-of-toes to get a look around the crowd. “She’d look super different - “ She was going to keep talking but she saw someone very very dark and gave Urika’s shoulders a quick shake. “There! Look, I think I see her!” She pointed out to another woman, of normal alkidike height, but so so dark in color with piercing yellow eyes. “Woah, look at her.” She whispered out.

Peering out at where it was pointed, Urika let out a gasp of awe. The woman did look different, moreso than any hybrid she had encountered (and she had encountered a fire hybrid recently). She looked like plant, with her green hair and brown skin, and when she saw her eyes she blinked back slowly.
"She's so...different." Urika wispered, as if she would be overheard, "I thought she might look similar to the Alkidike sisters here...but she's like the opposite!"
