Tendaji may not be bustling like the cities of ages past, but that doesn't mean someone can live their life without encountering someone else who is a bit...different. What is the story of you meeting a person who is going in the opposite direction. Maybe they are traveling and you meet in a cross roads, or maybe they are settling down to start a family while you're getting ready to leave. Or possibly it's someone with such a different personality it's like oil and water. This is your chance to tell us that story and what happens when you cross paths.
[ This prompt is all about crossing paths - briefly and of characters who wouldn't normally find themselves interacting with each other. Explore what happens when two people who are going in opposite directions (figuratively or literally) find themselves briefly encountering one another. We would like to see strangers meet on this one, so take some time to bring your characters out of their comfort zones. ]

The weather was cool in Yael, Beowulf was taking a bit of an advantage of being outside as the sun still shines overhead. Laying on his back outside his parent’s home, one arm behind his head and book propped up in the other. He seemed almost at peace as he tried to ignore those that came and went on the road past his house. That is until someone’s shadow appeared between himself and the sun.
‘Whatcha readin’?’ asked a young child’s voice as large silver eyes stared down at him.
As he heard the child’s voice, his gaze shifted slightly to glance upwards and at the face of the girl. She seemed to be smiling down at him as he gave an almost deadpanned expression. This was just what he needed on such a nice day too.
“A novel about a princess who went elsewhere to play?” he said in a questioning tone.
The girl gave a giggle as she stared continuously at Beowulf, her eyes seemed to gleam brighter at the comment. ‘Seems like you are reading something more on magic then Princesses.’
Beowulf groaned as he rolled away from the girl, sitting up and snapping the book closed. Turning slightly to look back over his shoulder at the girl who gave off the air of innocence. Ruffling his own hair to knock any dirt and grass might have stuck to it. Shaking off even his green shirt, Beowulf looked away from the girl whom had an interest in what he was doing.
“So what if it is? There a problem with that?” he asked moving to stand up.
‘Oh no, I think it is all interesting. Magic can be fun if used right.’ she said, almost bouncing as she did. ‘Mom uses some magic, not much but a little when she needs it.’
Beowulf looked at this girl now with an interest of his own. Her mother used magic? He was curious to know what type of magic was used. Elemental? Healing? Arcane magic that he had yet to learn about? There were many questions that he had no answers for. At this point, Beowulf felt like the child wanting more sweets than his mother wanted to give. Only these ‘sweets’ was information.
“Is that so? Might I ask what type of magic?” he asked, calming himself and schooling his expression back to one of blankness.
There was that awkward moment of silence as both stood there looking at each other. The girl was the first to break the staring contest of sorts, ‘You’d have to ask her. But I can take you to ask her.’
Beowulf had to pause a moment as if to think about it. Did he really want to go out that far to learn about all this? Perhaps he could just go to the library again and search other books for possible ideas. Frowning ever so slightly he just shook his head. "No need. If you can tell me about what happens when she does use magic. I might be able to just find stuff on it myself." He said before turning and heading towards where there was an actual seat.
'Well when she does use magic plants seem to grow.' the girl says as she followed him, her skirts brushing about her ankles. 'She can make it rain, light fire in the stove.' She went on, this magic sounding like something Beowulf had heard of before.
"So elemental magic?" he asked stopping and turning towards the girl.
'Is that what it is called?' she tilted her head ever so slightly, 'You seem to know about it. You learning magic?'
Wrinkling his nose a little, Beowulf shook his head at the question. "Nope, don't know what I want to do in life yet." He turned his expression to one of being in thought. "I am sure I will figure it out eventually."
'You are a strange one mister.' the girl muttered as she just watched him. 'Well if you ever want to know more I am sure mom can show you.' She turned as if to leave, 'As is, I need to be getting home. Mom will be wondering where I ran off to.' She gave a wave in his direction before dashing away.
Beowulf just watched her leave as he shook his head again after she vanished around a corner. Elemental magic, was her mother a summoner of sorts? These questions weighed on him a bit as he looked at the book in his hand. It was one about healing magic, the properties and workings of the magic. Also had some ideas on how to apply it to every day life or in times of need. Groaning slightly he glanced toward the sky as many things started popping up in his mind.
"I have so much research to do." He muttered to himself heading off toward the library again.
