Tendaji may not be bustling like the cities of ages past, but that doesn't mean someone can live their life without encountering someone else who is a bit...different. What is the story of you meeting a person who is going in the opposite direction. Maybe they are traveling and you meet in a cross roads, or maybe they are settling down to start a family while you're getting ready to leave. Or possibly it's someone with such a different personality it's like oil and water. This is your chance to tell us that story and what happens when you cross paths.
[ This prompt is all about crossing paths - briefly and of characters who wouldn't normally find themselves interacting with each other. Explore what happens when two people who are going in opposite directions (figuratively or literally) find themselves briefly encountering one another. We would like to see strangers meet on this one, so take some time to bring your characters out of their comfort zones. ]
Ishani 1
When Papa mentioned taking a job in the North she thought it would be in Zidel. From the way her Uncle had talked it up Ishani could only imagine how grand the capital was. She pictured grand buildings made of stone that had lasted for hundreds of years with a council of intimidating, yet amazing people that held enough sway to look over Zena and Sauti. For a moment she'd been allowed to dream until their cart had diverted from the main road toward a smaller, much less traveled road. Eventually Hargitt led them to a smaller village that was...Well, she'd never seen anything like it, honestly.
A few of the buildings were really, really nice and the rest looked like fur covered huts! They'd been told that the Ild'vann had built their new village on what was once an expansive, expensive estate, but Ishani hadn't thought of what that might look like until now. She leaned against the edge of the cart, her eyes eagerly soaking up the environment as they rolled through. Knowing full well her parents would be wrapped up for a while, Ishani turned to her sister, "Come on Harlei, let's check it out!" And without so much as waiting for confirmation Ishani was jumping over the edge.

Silfi 1
While it was rare for Silfi to be out without at least one of her siblings it wasn't unheard of. Yngvara's hunts often took her big sister away, Ziya had his own duties and Revna was...Revna. Maybe it was because of how close in age they were, but sometimes the bickering and mutual teasing would sometimes get to be too much for Silfi. So, she'd spent the better part of the morning working on her chores and when those were finished Silfi decided to wander about the village on her own.
Visitors to the village were a rarity so when she heard a few murmurs about a wagon passing through Silfi had run to meet it. Maybe she could get a look at them before Revna! The little hybrid dashed around stoic adults and scarred hunters, brushing past drying hides and snacking raptrix to pop out just in time to see the wagon rolling to a stop further down. She couldn't see the drivers from this angle, but she could see Ishani jumping down. It was another kid! Silfi was almost unbearably excited and she ran up to get closer. When she saw there were two her spirit perked up. "Velkommen!"

Harlei 1
She hadn't been sure what to expect. Sure her uncle had said some stuff but by now she usually didn't pay attention to anything he said. Harlei chalked it up to complaining or exaggeration. But when they pulled up and saw the village she was kinda impressed with it. It might not be a typical town but it wasn't a campsite either. As her sister said they should check it out and hopped out Harlei only nodded and followed after her.
When her feet hit the ground she changed a glance back to see if their parents were watching and would stop them. When neither appeared to be quick to tell them no, and by quick she meant right that second, she turned her attention back to her sister. "Where to first?"

Ishani 2
"Hmm. I'm not sure, what if we-"
At first the greeting didn't register with Ishani, but soon enough it became obvious that the local was talking to them. It was another kid, one that looked a little smaller than they were, and might have passed for fully ice if it weren't for their eyes. Because of the short hair and the thicker clothing she couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl, but either way they seemed to be headed straight for them.
"What are they saying?" She murmured to Harlei. "Do we stay? Should we run? It's not too late to bail."

Silfi 2
The little one was just so excited to have others close to her own age around that she failed to notice Ishani's wariness. While the Ild'vann's numbers had been steadily growing over the years most of the 'youth' were teenagers that had come to stay with their parents or little infants. She tried her best to spend time with her older siblings and cousins, but the things they wanted to do didn't much appeal to her.
Silfi, by nature, was unusually sociable for her family and had no qualms with making that everyone else's problem. "Hi! I'm Silfi; did you come here to stay?"

Harlei 2
She'd ignored the greeting at first because there was a whole bunch of people and Harlei figured it was more for her parents. However, seeing that Ishani was the one to pick up that it was meant for them, she looked at the other kid. Instantly she shifted so that she was in front of her sister, blocking the excited one.
Her head turned so that she could talk to her sister but her eyes remained on the other kid. "I don't know.. I think it's a bit late to run, they might follow." As the kid spoke again she furrowed her brow and scrunched up her nose. With full attitude she blurted out. "What language was that?"

Silfi 3
Silfi's excitement stalled a bit when she saw how one of the girls got in front of the other. She'd seen the action plenty of times before when her big sister tried to protect her from something bad. Did that mean she was bad? Or maybe she was just talking too much again?
Her eyes widened at the bite in the other's tone, but Silfi didn't back down. If anything she was even more invested in these two. "It's ours. We've spoken it for as long as the mountains have been tall." She stated proudly in a very 'on the spot' and totally not rehearsed speech she'd heard an adult say. Now that she was speaking common there was a distinct accent to her words, but unlike her mother they were easier to decipher.
"My name's Silfurvængur, but you can call me Silfi. What's yours?"

Ishani 3
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked around Harlei toward the stranger. "We're trapped." Ishani whispered with no small amount of dread. All she'd wanted to do was explore the village not talk to anyone; that was exactly what she'd been trying to get out of!
"We're not staying." Ishani responded in a matter of fact tone. "Our parents have a job and then we're leaving." Why was she being so nice? They weren't being nice. This was supposed to be when the other kid got fed up and left. So, what were they supposed to do? "I'm...Maude."

Harlei 3
Hearing the explanation for the weird language made her roll her eyes. "Well its not ours and we're not from here so what would make you use it?" Harlei didn't understand why people had to do that. Not everyone spoke the local languages that's why the common tongue was made, right? As Ishani answered the other questions, that she had pointedly ignored, she sighed.
"Call me Maeris."
She glanced back at Ishani for a second to see if she had an idea of what they should do now. It was likely that if they stayed close to the cart then their parents would notice and stop them from going to explore.

Silfi 4
Well now her smile was starting to drop. This wasn't how she envisioned making new friends. From the stories her father told meeting new people was something fun and exciting, only just sometimes bad, but she thought that maybe that was something she'd have to deal with in her older years. Not now.
"It was...I was just saying hi. That's how we say hi. Velkommen." She lowered her eyes and took a little steadying breath. If this kept up for much longer she was going to cry and that was the last thing Silfi wanted to do.

Ishani 4
"There was no way we were going to know that." Ishani knew enough to know that their language wasn't even common to Zenans let alone travelers. Scrunching her nose, she watched as the younger child started to deflate and a bit of her was happy to see it. While she didn't relish in hurting others if it got them to leave then Ishani was fine with it.
Still...they didn't know their way around and if their parents came...She looked to 'Maeris' and nodded her head. They needed a scheme. "Hey Silfi, you wanna be friends, right? How about you show us something really fun and we'll be friends."

Harlei 4
She stared at Silfi with a deadpan expression. Who would have guessed that!? "Sounds more like a curse word that our mother would say." Harlei shook her head. She didn't seem to care that the other girl was deflating either.
Although it seemed her sister came up with an idea. If it got them away from the eyes of their parents real quick then using the kid to show them something fun would be alright. Although she wasn't so sure about being friends.
"Surely there is something around here that is fun." If not then she hoped her parents finished with whatever job it was that they got so they could leave. A bored Harlei and Ishani was dangerous.

Ishani 5
All they had to do was pretend for a few minutes, just long enough to escape the wary eyes of the adults, and then they could ditch her! It was easy; at least, in Ishani's eyes. "If your tribe came up with it's own language then you must have some really cool things to do, right? Or were you so bored you just ran up to the first person you saw that didn't live here?"
It may have been harsh, but honestly, even when Ishani was trying to be sociable she came across rude.

Silfi 5
"Jeg skulle ønske jeg hadde forbannet deg." Silfi murmured.
I wish I had cursed you.
"...If you want I can take you to see the raptrix pups. The Ild'vann has always been a tribe of riders and now that we've moved here we can start to raise raptrix again. They're really cute and fluffy." Was her voice wobbling a little? No, definitely not. Did she want to run home? Yes, definitely yes, but if her sister saw her like this then she didn't know what Revna would do.
Probably come down here and beat them up.
Maybe that was the better idea.

Harlei 5
When Silfi spoke in her local language again Harlei narrowed her eyes at the girl. She had a feeling that the girl said something smart but she couldn't prove it.
She glanced at her sister as she took a deep breath, more of a huff. When Silfi spoke common again she looked at the girl before shrugging. "Sure. Cute and fluffy works." Not like they had other options. "Lead the way." All they had to do was slip off before their parents figured out what they were doing.
