It had been a very productive day as far as Hestia was concerned. Starting at 4am with a bit of light tidying, then off for a long run across the city. It was even fairly solitary for once. Destiny City had quite a few early morning joggers and she was at her most peaceful when she didn't have to kill the impulse to somehow win the constant non-race. It made the following hour of meditation and Hestian forms that much easier to fall into, letting go of the unnecessary and further seeking her way forward. On the way home, she'd even gotten the chance to dust an extremely grimy youma and wasn't that just starting the day out with a win?
Then it was back home for a refreshing shower and preparing a healthy breakfast for herself and the studio crew. Styling, shooting, and editing went perfectly today. They had long become a well-oiled machine that worked well enough to make the final product look effortless, but it was so satisfying when it nearly was.
Then there was a healthy lunch, along with requisite meal pics and OOTD selfies. She gotten some tips on looking taller in them and the results? Satisfying. Could definitely pass as 5'6" with those! What followed were emails sent, comments replied to, likes were liked, and so on until she was faced with an empty inbox and all notifications acknowledged. The next day's plans were solidified and an early dinner was soon on the table. Dinner pics again and the workday was capped off with a couple short video messages to long-time followers, a birthday here, a moment of sympathy there, a well wishing. Dwight sometimes used the phrase "parasocial relationships" like it was a bad thing, but she has yet to see how.
It was a very tidy work day.
And the perfect way to end it was just like this, stalking the neighborhoods of Destiny City, looking for...not a fight. Just someone harmful she could stop as Hestia. Or, maybe someone not-so harmful, and she could invite them to her homeworld. Another flame to brighten the Hestian night.

It had been a quite productive day so far as Adam, and as Borax.
His day as Adam had started bright and early with a routine of morning exercise he had taken up since receiving his new abilities. He couldn't say he was the fondest of starting his day even earlier, but he had so much to do after a long day at the office that it was the easiest time to fit it in. He then had a hearty breakfast and took a protein shake for work, where he spent the next eight to ten hours wrapped up in phone calls, meetings with underlings, client calls, and meetings based on new proposals from his other life.
It was the other life that he eagerly rejoined after exiting the high-rise office and enjoying a dinner date (it was a fine dinner date, he supposed, but not one he was terribly inclined to repeat, she spent too much time talking about herself). Adam had his time to schmooze, and now it was Borax's turn to do what he had truly wanted to do all day.
His double quota had been lifted a couple of weeks ago, but he never quite stopped collecting at that level. It had been an easy enough adjustment that he ultimately enjoyed quite a bit. It gave him more excuses to drain people and to touch what he thought would never be accessible. It gave him those in such a way that his new work would likely interpret him as an overachiever, which was something he very much desired to lean into. If he was seen as overachieving, then they would grant him more medals. And if they granted him more medals...
Well, assuredly, a promotion wouldn't be far behind.
He toyed with the first starseed of the night in his hand absently, pondering what his next approach should be. He could head to a bar and do some energy scraping; he was quickly discovering those were easy targets because people were oft too tipsy or sleepy anyway to notice the difference. He could try to pursue another starseed, perhaps this time from a powered individual. He could--
His eye twitched at the bright sense at the edge of his senses.
He did his best to ignore it, changing his path with the hopes to avoid it for the moment.

That sense followed him, just a little closer and then staying at range as he moved. They didn't come out into the open, and while the uniform wasn't nearly as flamboyant as many a member of Order, those crisp bright whites couldn't be fully obscured by shadow.
Hestia kept the agent in sight, the difference in power signature making her relax into a certain feeling of security. It's a lot easier to calmly observe, even talk, if you're certain you can walk away alive. It was one of the perks of Destiny City, afterall. The only place on Earth where an Order senshi had that privilege.
So she stalked and she watched. From this distance she couldn't tell what he had in his hand, but she assumed it was his weapon. Very tiny, she couldn't help a pang of sympathy for the man.

The avoidance wasn't working.
Intentionally seeking out so many of those on the other side had familiarized him with how auras sensed at this point. He could tell by how annoying the sense felt that it was not someone at the same power as him, but thankfully it did not feel as glaringly annoying as Cybele's and her taller friend's. More like Myrrha's, which placed his nighttime stalker at super, perhaps squire. He hadn't run into enough knights to quite differentiate where they felt different.
He rolled the starseed between his fingers.
Should he intentionally antagonize them? It seemed so many of their enemies were so terribly sensitive about just a couple of souls of people they had never met, and it was a way to pull and extract the information that Faustite needed Borax to track.
He eyed the starseed he held once more and glanced over his shoulder.
Did he intend to eat it? No, was easier to collect his quota. Did he lift the starseed to his lips anyway? Perhaps.

Was it dice? Was he going to throw a pair of dice at her? Or maybe something like a wax seal. Hestia had always felt the lack of weapons for senshi was something of a travesty, but in the case of baseline agents, sometimes nothing was better than their penchant for toys and office supplies.
Maybe it was something like a bouncy ball this time.
And then...
Oh.
Oh.
Hestia's almost playful speculation froze in it's tracks, replaced by a half second of silence. Then a crashing white noise filled her ears. By the time her mind caught up, her body had already initiated an explosive sprint, her mouth already gritting out, "The Sparkling Finish!"
This was not going to be a soft start or a searching conversation. Hestia avoided fights, has done so for years now. Not, unfortunately, because she's peaceful at heart. But because she has a very big, very beautiful goal that she has put her whole person into pursuing. To achieve that goal, she cannot indulge in willful harm toward others. And the easiest way to do that, was simply to run away from unnecessary fights.
This was the first time, though, that she'd seen someone try to simply eat a starseed. As if it was a late-night snack and not something as close to holy as she'd ever known. It was a situation she simply didn't have the mental preparation for.
Borax would have enough time to see that his pursuer was, of all things, a maid. And that she was small.

Borax must play tank, cause he's so damn skilled at drawing aggro ~ !
Super Sailor Scout Attack: The Sparkling Finish!
(debuff) A person-sized scouring blast hits a surface, giving it the appearance of highly polished metal. It causes a highly blinding glare and makes everything within its circle extremely slick and difficult to maneuver in.
effect duration: 35 seconds attack range: 15 feet size: circle with a 15 foot radius optional after effects: those in the affected area feel extremely fresh and clean afterward uses: 2 - Hestia is immune to this effect -

That did it.
Borax had just barely touched the starseed with the tip of his tongue, fighting the temptation to go ahead and eat it despite only intending it as a taunt--he could feel the power, and for a moment he understood--as he suddenly heard and felt the steps rushing toward him, an echo of what her attack must have been tearing out of her lips. That was his signal to do what he had been asked to do as part of his assignment.
He counted.
one, two, three, four, five--
As the seconds droned on in his head, he cringed and pressed his eyes closed for a moment at how offensively bright everything became. His instinct was to circle out of the way, but not before attempting to see what was charging him. A maid? The other side really was charging him with a whole maid? Senshi outfits truly had no consistency between them other than the color, though it did amuse him that she would still look like a maid of a sort if corrupted.
Not that he had much time to consider that.
With her charging with her sparkling finish, he turned to suddenly get out of the way--
but didn't exactly account for it being slippery, and suddenly he had to pinwheel his arms to stay upright, starseed still in-hand.

She closed the gap and then got even closer, one hand flashing out to grab the fingers holding the starseed in a crushing grip. Her other hand was a fist, flying toward his waist, aiming for his kidney. At a distance, it looked very much like a formal dance bathed in a gorgeous ballroom light. Just a little more violent and the lead was over a foot smaller.
The motions were sure-footed. Clearly the maid wasn't effected by the slippery surface.
"Where's the victim?" Hestia snapped out, clearly impatient and angry to go with it. And, underneath that, a little panicked. She'd never checked how long someone could go without their starseed. There hadn't been any need to. Someone would be able to tell her, but if it was only fifteen minutes? An hour? It couldn't wait.

one whole unit of maid

For what looked like a tiny maid with a bow in her hair, she was incredibly skilled, It stuck out in his mind and Borax attempted to focus hard on just that, not the fact that this agile maid that was unaffected by the shiny sheen and had a punch that made his waist throb. It threw off his count for a moment, though he scrambled to catch it again, remembering how much Cybele had hurt him, and how much Myrrha had hurt him, and how much he had still managed--
Metallia, he couldn't wait until he could kick these people to the side without even trying.
She wanted to know where the victim was, but to be honest, he couldn't even readily remember where this empty body was. Borax didn't care. He had gotten what he wanted out of the situation, taking the starseed and leaving the body of the civilian to be discovered by some useless official or the garbage people of Destiny City. She wasn't helping him dig through his memory with her kidney punches and being so small and stressed, which was honestly, in spite of it all, bringing a smirk to the edges of his lips.
"You want to know who this is from?" He coughed, his fingers turning white and red with how tight he was holding onto the starseed. "Why should I tell you?"
Borax liked living moreso than he cared about one random soul. He could find another later. Faustite had just wanted information, and as much of a thrill as it was bringing him, taunting her into breaking his hand was likely not the right move. Just give her something, even if it was vague. The right direction. She could figure it out.
Or not.
"Back that way?"
He felt his fingers straining.

Did he?
It was certainly a useful enough hand. Did what he generally desired it to do. Allowed him to craft good mazes and beautiful words and snatch people's starseeds. But was he really being threatened by a tiny maid with slippery magic--
Slippery magic that had timed out, he realized, considering he felt a bit more stable now.
But who was he kidding -- her grip ******** hurt, and one soul when he could find hundreds more wasn't really a stressor. "Fine. Left them near the dumpster behind that Italian restaurant nearby." Not that he could loosen his fingers from the starseed easily with her death grip. How was she so damn strong? "Gino's or some s**t?"

There was a pause as the gleaming light faded and the man acquiesced, giving her the information she wanted. A moment of not realizing that she should let him go now. The switch between the momentum of violent intent and anything else was stilted and awkward.
Then she exhaled in a soft huff and plucked up the starseed with her free hand before loosening her grip with the other.
"Don't try following."
Hestia took a quick step to distance herself from him, not trusting him with her back, particularly with his much longer reach. (Yet still absolutely trusting that he didn't lie about the victim's location.)
Another step back and she added, "And stop harming people." It was frustrating to say, like she should say more and say it better. Should either be more convincing, or scarier, or cooler. Something that left an impression, because Hestia knew, that by not continuing the fight, by not wrecking his hand and whatever else she could reach on the agent, she was giving up whatever control she had over what came next. Tomorrow's victims, or even tonight's, it wasn't that late after all.
How long do you have to put a starseed back?
Hestia turned to run, the way she always did.

Borax immediately drew his hand back to himself, shaking it out and squeezing the fingers in and out to try and return feeling to the extremities. It was good to know that there were some ways that were always reliable to draw them out and make them show themselves, who they were, and what they were capable of.
This made this tiny maid more capable than most he had crossed paths with. Not nearly as scrappy. Seemed like she had some training.
Don't try following, was met with a shrug and, "Didn't plan on it." Let her fluster herself over finding where the starseed belonged. As entertaining as it would be to watch, it was likely much better to imagine just a tangled mess she would put herself in.
And stop harming people.
Borax barely constrained himself from rolling his eyes, but he, at the very least, did not pursue. And why would he? As much as his hand throbbed, he reminded himself -- he had accomplished what he had meant to. Another senshi down, another magic clocked and studied, another appearance and capabilities he could note to allow his fellows to be appropriately prepared...
Let her think she had gotten somewhere.

There was more than one Italian restaurant in the area. There were also quite a few piles of around each. There was even more than one passed out body to be found, though fortunately two out of the three were merely drunk.
Listening for the arrival of the ambulance, the comatose civilian struggling to come to at her feet, Hestia considered using her basic attack to get rid of a particularly vile smelling stain on her uniform. She sighed and got ready to get out of sight as sirens began to grow closer.
