Torain felt ill. Today was it. He'd finally decided he'd hung around the Negaverse long enough, kept his friends on the other side waiting long enough. Though, it still pained him greatly to leave. It was... agonizing. His chest burned with every breath, every heartbeat. His eyes felt as though he'd shot pepper juice straight into them as he tried not to just start bawling, standing there, staring down at Damien's sleeping face.
The person he trusted most in the world (and yet still didn't trust enough to tell him, to ask him to come, to please don't let him do it alone—).
The person he was about to betray.
His throat closed up and he forced himself to breathe evenly, bending down to kiss his sleeping forehead.
"I love you," he said, voice raw. "Stay safe."
Placing a letter* on the pillow next to Damien's head, he carefully, quietly powered up and teleported away to the park he agreed to meet Lysithea at.
He staggered a bit as he landed, falling to his knees out of sheer grief.
*
My Dearest Damien,
I love you, very much. You are one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. Every smile, every laugh, I will treasure forever. You were the first person to ever make me feel attractive. To assure me that you felt very attracted to me. I’d fallen in love before, but never so intensely, so brightly, and never so mutual.
I love you so much it hurts. And it hurts even more that I’m leaving. I’m sorry. I can’t be in the Negaverse anymore. As great as you make me feel, as wonderful as I always feel in your presence, as safe and as happy?
Nothing can overwrite the suffocation I feel in my chest. In my stained starseed.
I wanted so much to just be happy there with you. But I can’t. I feel smothered. I feel trapped. Unable to make my own decisions.
I love you, and I’m sorry.
I know I can’t ask you to follow me. Being there… you like it. It’s good for you. It makes you happy.
But it doesn’t make me happy.
If you choose to come back with me? I’ll be there with open arms. I’ll make sure I’m available for you, okay? You won’t be alone, if you come with.
I’ll be here. Even if you choose to stay in the Negaverse for another ten years, I’ll be here.
I love you. I’m sorry.

Lysithea had been early, waiting for Monoceros to arrive and only pacing a little bit.
It helped keep the nerves down with the fact that Soleiyu was draped over her shoulders and had been purring this whole time, clearly understanding the assignment. If she hadn’t been so tense, she would have said something but…she was, so she hadn’t.
Yet.
The flare of the Corrupted Senshi aura made her stiffen and take a half step back, reaching her senses out for anything or anyone else that might be around, and where she felt nothing, she moved to kneel beside Monoceros, placing a hand on his shoulder. “‘Ceros? What’s wrong? Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?”
Or was he just stressed from this whole thing? She had a Mauvian to assist with that, but…she needed specifics before she could apply the cat.

Soleiyu had done his best to stay quiet, not because he had nothing to say but because he wanted to make sure that Lysithea was focused and not working herself up. Purring kept him occupied, but he stalled when there was a sudden, new energy signature.
He recognized Monoceros, even in all that black.
Worry and alarm consumed him quickly; the Senshi looked like he’d gone down roughly, and of course he’d expect the worst. Lysithea was, too.
He didn’t speak; he just looked over Monoceros and tried to observe what he could, and–while Lysithea was looking after him, he kept his eyes to the area around them to make sure this wasn’t some ambush or trap.

Right. Right, of course she'd assume... something like he'd been caught. Or... whatever. He just looked up at her and shook his head, inhaling shakily and trying very hard not to cry.
"Nobody knows I'm here," he said hoarsely. "I'm fine, I'm safe, all that, I just..."
He leaned against her, feeling small. "I'm ready. I want to get this over with. If I end up forgetting everything, then I don't have to worry about breaking his heart, right?" he asked rhetorically, faking a small laugh. "Totally absolved of responsibility."

Lysithea didn’t sigh in relief, but it was a close thing, and when she wrapped her arms around him, she drew her phone out at the same time. “You’re safe. You’re fine. We’re going to go up to Lysithea where we can talk more easily and get this all taken care of.” She didn’t wait for a response, taking the three of them up to her Homeworld and drawing away from Monoceros once they arrived.
“First things first, he’s warm, he’s soft, he purrs, he’s good for the nerves, he’s Soleiyu, and he’s perfect.” Lysithea gently took the cat off of her own shoulders and draped him around Monoceros instead. “Second, that might be the case. But. You’ll always love him, ‘Ceros, and that’s okay. We’ll save him, that’s all. Easy peasy. We’ll save him and you two can live your fairytale together. You know that I don’t give up. Not if I can help it.”
She hesitated and knelt before him, a worried expression on her face. “Third, and I have to ask, but…do you still want this? Purification only can work if you want it…”

Soleiyu was perfect, he knew this to be a fact more than opinion. Even if he was just relegated to emotional support Mauvian. There wasn’t much that he could do in this instance; he’d never been as close to Monoceros as the others had been. He let himself lean against Monoceros and brushed his head against the Senshi’s chest to try and reassure him.
He had no doubt that it was a hard decision–doing what was best for himself, and leaving behind someone he cared so much for.
It wasn’t a choice that Soleiyu envied, but there was a necessary, obvious choice.
Chaos was a prison, and it warped and consumed and took.
There was no freedom in it. There were a thousand things he could have said to try and reassure Monoceros, but he gave Lysithea the platform to speak.
He gave Monoceros the chance to consider her words carefully, too.

Monoceros startled a bit at the sudden change in scenery, despite being used to such things with teleportation. It was... just a lot. His head hurt and he barely heard Lysithea speaking as he wrapped his arms around Soleiyu, petting the cat gently. These two were almost unfairly kind to him. He felt as though he didn't deserve purification. That he'd spent too much time lost to Chaos, that he loved too many people mired in Chaos. Ashanite, Andesine, Marialite, hell, even Arsenolite now that he'd started to be a better person. And Murikabushi, who'd encouraged him to go from one of the other sides of Chaos.
But he definitely did want it. As gross as it made him feel to just abandon all those people he loved. If he could drag them kicking and screaming into it, he would.
But they had to make that choice on their own, and it ******** sucked. Above all, he really just wanted Ashanite to come with him. But he was in too deep. No matter what Monoceros said, he was sure Ashanite would do something drastic to keep them both in Chaos together. No matter how hard he would plea.
Asking him from the other side would be even harder, though. Was it... worth it?
Yes. No. Maybe? He didn't know. Tears were flowing before he realized, and he cuddled Soleiyu a bit closer.
"I want it," he finally said heavily. "I just hate that I'm leaving my Asha behind."

Lysithea gave a soft sigh and nodded. “I get it. I wish every day that I had been able to rescue my brother. BUt. All we can do is keep trying, ‘Ceros. And you’ll have a much easier time…a safer time convincing him when you’re back with us. You can take him to the safety of your homeworld. You can still love him, and we can save him. Just as we’re saving you.”
He said that he wanted it, and Lysitehea supposed that that was as good an invitation as anything…if he changed his mind though…well. He couldn't really change his mind now. Not with her about to reveal her secret.
Closing her eyes for a moment, Lysithea drew in a breath and allowed the power to gather around her, her Eternal Fuku shifting to that of her Princess form, the crystal that had purified the spring cradled in her hands. “If you’re ready now, I’m ready too, Monoceros. Let’s bring you home, okay? Then we can work on your Asha.”
She would. Trying to convince people to leave Chaos wasn’t…something new for Lysithea…and now…now she had an even bigger reason to do so.

Whatever–whoever–Asha was, it was a mystery to Soleiyu. He put his energy towards receiving the hug, to letting his tail curl around Monoceros’ arm, to nuzzling under his chin when he could reach.
There was something immediately relieving about Lysithea’s new form. As the energy signature shifted, he felt relieved when it washed over him. In some ways, it felt like basking in the sunlight or taking a midday nap. Maybe it was because she was a Princess.
Maybe it was because she was his senshi.
Monoceros was in good hands, though. He was sure of it.
Even if Lysithea had voiced that she was worried or uncertain or afraid of messing up, Soleiyu still had complete faith in her.
Though he stayed pressed close to Monoceros, he caught her eyes and nodded approvingly.
She could do this. And, once the Chaos was gone, they would work on making sure Monoceros had all the support he needed to be okay.

"... Lysithea, you..." Breathless, he looked on in awe, a sense of pride welling from deep inside him, some kind of feelings that had been lost to time and corruption, no longer attached to any memories he could recall.
"Thank you," he said, lowering Soleiyu so she could reach him better. The hole in his chest... He swallowed, giving the cat another ear scratch, and closed his eyes.
Pain was the first thing he could register, and even so, he didn't squeeze the poor cat in his lap, tensing up and trying not to scream. They wouldn't be heard, that didn't matter, but he didn't want to hurt his throat and cause himself more pain.
In moments, it was over, and he collapsed the rest of the way to the ground, breathing harshly.
"... I'm still me," he said, relieved. "Mostly, I think." He checked his rear--yes, he'd lost his buttwings. He could tell something had happened to his magic, but... eh. It didn't matter.
What mattered was that he finally felt safe and free, for the first time in a long time.

He looked surprised to see her like this, but there was no anger, no suspicion so that…made things easier. Closing her eyes, Lysithea reached for the feeling of the Chaos and as the crystal in her hands began to glow, she opened her eyes again and watched as Monoceros began to change.
Just as she had, he melted…kind of. Maybe melted wasn’t the right word but…
He looked so much better in white. And he felt better too.
“You’re still you, ‘Ceros.”
The wave of exhaustion that seemed to overwhelm her caused Lysithea to take a deep breath and banish her Princess side before falling to her knees before Monoceros and hugging him tightly, being careful of Soleiyu in the process, but also, drawing him into the embrace too.
“You’re still you and you’re home.”
…And she had done it. Soleiyu had been right, of course, and she kissed him on his stupid cute nose in thanks.

There was always going to be a few seconds in each purification where Soleiyu forgot to breathe. He trusted that Lysithea could do this–and was proud of her when she did!–but purification could hurt. Maybe people didn’t know exactly what they wanted. Maybe something–anything–went wrong.
Maybe they forgot all the important things they wanted to keep and had to start over with less than they’d thought they’d have.
Soleiyu lowered himself just slightly so Lysithea could embrace Monoceros; he bumped closer to Lysithea so he could nuzzle under her chin, and his purring was undoubtedly not forced right now.
“You’re in good hands,” he reassured. “You’ll be safe. I’m glad you’re back, Monoceros.”
