Few times had he been in a place as remote as this, inland at least. He always felt ratheritchy when he was this far from the ocean. He was deep in an obscure part of Sauti where only a few hybrid dwellings of windling's lived. In fact he couldn't even call it a village. He wasn't exactly sure how he had gotten here. These few people live near that sailscales cliffs. Indeed some had made their homes embedded on the cliff face it must be a harsh existence, but the people here sure looked happy.
He smiled and bobbed his head, but each group only had a faint ability to understand what each other was saying. He had been trying to find the nearest town not the nearest mini camp. Alas, there was not for it, but to bumble through his own mess and pair it in mind to the best of his abilities. He was here for a rare type of fish found only in the cool streams, but it seemed to think he was only interested in sailscales. He thought they were cool creatures, of course, but he didn't have any real use for the elegant little beasts. The hybrid tribe, however, kept trotting out fancier and fancier pets. And he felt more than a little obliged to help them out as hard up as they were. They had to find stock and that more than anything he could appreciate. Eventually, they trotted out three beasts that he couldn't refuse. They were so fine and he happily found himself exchanging a full purse for them. One was a huge dark green female smattered with minute red flakes. For all the world's she looked like fine bloodstone he decided that was what he would call her. He rather like the semi precious stone anyway for its grounding and protective qualities.
The other two were quite different. There was a horribly handsome male with green red skin and dark tiger stripes over that he named him Firetiger. The last sales skin was a rich dark red and black with vivid orange markings reminiscent of a poison dart frog. He named this queen the female Nallien because she mewled the whole time she was in her cage.
They were so fun and he still felt like he was getting them out of bargain but they seem more than happy with the coins. And some dried fish. He had a surplus of it, maybe it wasn't every day they got high quality ocean fish. It was rather delicious. It was his super secret herb blend, it worked every time. If they were ever in Matori, they could stop by, no doubt they would. But he got the feeling that he didn't get out much. He made a mental note of the place and promised himself he would return one day. These were a happy people, carefree and a lovely mix of faces and races. He could pick out a few wind/water, wind/fire and wind/ice with a small smattering of wind/leaf and some that looked to be mixed further. A few pure bloods of any of the races were sprinkled here and there, obviously some of the parents. It was a beautiful rainbow of peaceful people but they mostly only spoke the Sautian language, not Common. An effect of their isolation he expected. He packed his new sailscale menagerie on his wander beast as he called his basic brown Quhar She had a dull, docile and sweet personality. He had been fortunate, she also worked harder than most of the bulls he'd ever used. She also bit people he didn't like which, if anything was an extra perk. He had built her a stable near their house. She lowed despondently, he had to remember to find her a boyfriend, he wanted to get some fresh milk, plus the calves were pretty cute. She was probably as eager as he to as was to get the sailscales home and start training them. They will be a pet breeding project. He was very excited now soon his kinfa egg would hatch too he should have known he would one day have all the animals. Too much close association with a rampant family of beasts tamers. Most of his pets were enlisted by chance having just sort of happened. He eventually got some proper directions to the nearest town from which he would successfully be able to leave for home, with his new living cargo. In a way this was way better than finding that fish anyway, he was ready to be back home with his Onora and their familiar food and routine. Though he did buy a few windling spices for her fancy spice cupboard and his own, he liked one of their meat seasonings very much.
