Potions? They took all that she needed for a potions shop? Chantara wrinkled her nose at the sight of the Kahi shop, the very thing with its bright colors screaming poison and fraud to the herbalist. The Elidae had gone out further than ever before, into an actual settlement, so that she could look for dangerous herbs that only grew on this particular island. She had not been expecting the town to actually have a shop of strange brews that somehow had managed to snag all of the creeping vines she needed from the local cove. Now here she was stuck outside of it, a cloak tied tightly around her body to try to prevent others from seeing her unique features that marked her as an Elidae and not as a Kahi, but it was hard to hide the antenna that tried to poke free from the gray material that moved around her as a seabreeze picked up once more. It was almost like nature itself was ushering her into the damned place and even Chantara didn’t know if it was worth the hassle. Would they even have spare vines to sell when they probably had shoved them into some strange potions? Would any of those potions even be worth buying with her few coins, so precious and saved over the last year since she rarely needed Kahi currency and had bartered with Sisters for them just in case of emergencies…like this if it could be considered one? Lips pressed into a tight line of disappointment, the Elidae crossed her arms for probably the tenth time as she stood outside of the store and pondered her options.

Vetra wasn't sure how she'd ended up in a Kahi settlement. She'd followed along with Enya for most of the day, but at some point the other had gone off to do some reef explorations with friends. Instead of following them for what was sure to be an exhausting afternoon Vetra hung back and just vibed in the village. She was content to kick back in a cool area and nap, but for some reason sleep didn't come easy.
Maybe she was worried for Enya or maybe it was just the area. Either way, she'd decided to get up and explore for a bit. Unlike other Elidae that hung outside of shops, Vetra's form and markings were on full display. Even among her own kind her marks caused her to stand out so she was used to the stares. Thumbs hooked into the sash around her waist, the bulky Elidae stopped outside of a weird little shop. She gave a passing look at the figure in the hood, but since she assumed Kahi instead of Elidae Vetra didn't give it much thought.
Instead, she lifted her nose and gave the air a sniff. It was...oddly sweet? Like whatever was coming from this shop was trying to pull her in. "Goddess, this place is a trap," she murmured.

"It is. There will be so many pretty and expensive things inside but the results are never guaranteed." Chantara found herself agreeing, the Elidae's brow furrowed as she tried to figure out why another sister was even in the area. She usually stayed by herself on the southern side of their isle, only emerging whenever the sun was low in the sky so she did not get to interact with many of her sisters save for those few that came for poultices and to check in on her because of friendship with her mother. So it was not surprising to say that she did not recognize the other Elidae, even though those markings definitely did catch her interest as she realized they were not quite the same coloring as others. Was she ill? No, they had mystics with similar markings so perhaps it was just different markings...strange.
Still, there was no much time left in the afternoon to let them shop and so Chantara pushed past the stranger with her hood only slipping down once she entered the shop. Even if she disliked being stared at there were far less Kahi in the little shop and she did not want to appear like a threat to those already browsing inside. Chantara chuckled softly under her breath at the thought of looking more like a thief than a guest if she had kept her disguise up even while inside this place. At least she knew she wasn't the only Elidae in the area, so hopefully the stares would be at least split between her and the other sister. "Coming inside?" She asked quietly, holding the door open for the other Elidae before looking around at the various shelves of bottled brews. Chantara pursed her lips thoughtfully. Maybe it would be worth looking over what they offered, just in case there was actually something of value here. All she wanted was her vines though...the thought making a soft sigh leave her lips. How frustrating.

"Kind of have to now." Vetra quirked her maw into a smirk and walked into the shop. It wasn't as if he she was expecting to see another sister here, beyond Enya anyway, and since neither one of them were skulking about like this she was curious.
Normally her larger, muscular frame was a point of pride for the Elidae but once she was inside it made the space feel that much smaller. She found herself crouching a little out of habit, even rolling her shoulders to get comfortable, and when she did she caught the gaze of another patron. The Kahi was easily half her height, though twice her age, and upon the appearance of two Elidae she'd stopped in her tracks.
Vetra raised a hand in a non-committal welcome, but the Kahi slowly lowered the potion in her hand and not-so-subtly scuttled out of the store. Ah, well, one less thing to step around in here. Shrugging, Vetra moved about the space and took in the...oddities.
"I don't even know what to start looking for in a place like this."

Chantara simply raised a brow as the Kahi scurried away, the Elidae almost accustomed to such things from her own sisters who tried to avoid the strange nocturnal herbalist. "Do you have something in particular that you came here for?" She found herself asking, her voice low and soft as if testing the limits of how much she could actually speak with the other Elidae. She wasn't one to be loud nor was she one to normally partake in conversation, but here she was...unexpectedly with someone from her own home in a strange shop. Not that Chantara expected much out of this since it was simply a coincidence that would fade into a memory and not lead to anything more, like usual considering her own strange lifestyle.
"Healing remedies and poisons I can already create, but these magical potions about breathing underwater or changing physical traits for a limited time are new." She gave a slight shrug as she held up a potion with swirling yellow and brown liquid inside. "A speed boost? Looks rather putrid to me." She commented before placing the bottle back, her expression curious as she traced a hand along the shelf as if trying to see whatever potion bottle would next catch her interest.

"Not really," Vetra murmured in response. "I'm just biding time while the other I came into town with finishes her trades. You?" She wasn't about to question why the other Elidae was in the village, but this shop wasn't exactly something most normal folk ventured into.
"...Underwater breathing?" Now that caught her eye. She got a little closer and lifted the bottle to look it over, wondering if it were actually real or some sort of trick. If it really helped then wouldn't Enya be happy to have it? Maybe she could get it for her as a gift...
"I saw one near the door as we came in that said it was for acid resistance, but I'm not sure how that's possible."

"Strange way to pass time." Replied Chantara with a slight shrug. Then again how would she know how to pass time in a Kahi town? She was only here because of necessity, not for pleasure or anything like that. Honestly her whole experience with having fun was really limited as it was considering how absorbed she was with her own studies and living on the edge of the Elidae settlement.
The next statement did take her attention back to the present, the Elidae tilting her head with curiousity and moving to inspect the potion in question. "I did hear that such potions are possible so this one could be real. Does it have bubbles like those wiggly fish inside?" She asked, thinking back to the tome of potions that her mother had left behind. "I see them so it should be valid. Only one way to find out, if you like swimming then it should be fine." She made a face at the statement about acid resistance though. "I would definitely check out the breathing potion before trying out any acid resistance." She repeated with a look of disgust crossing her features at the very thought.

"You're here." If she was strange for dropping in then what did that make the other Elidae? Vetra passively eyed a few other potions, keeping an eye out for any sort of shop keep that might be watching, before inevitably coming back to the aforementioned pair.
"Yeah, it's got bubbles." Maybe this was the real deal? If someone else had heard about it without really looking at it then that was a good sign. Taking hold of the potion, Vetra nodded her head and mentally ticked the price off in her head once the other Elidae visually confirmed it. "The other I came with? She spends most of her time fishing with the Hapuna, but she's limited in how long she can stay underwater. If this works it should help out a lot." If anything Enya could test it in shallower water just incase.

"Yes, I am here. Though I don't see many others, especially any Sisters." Replied Chantara with a soft sigh, her frustration obvious as she looked over the shelves. "Since they took the last of the henbane from the nearby cove I had no choice but to come and see if they had any remaining for my own medicine." The admission brought a slight flush to her cheeks, the Elidae hating to admit that she needed to barter with anyone for herbs even if they were necessary for her studies. "I already took the time to come into the store, I thought I may as well see whatever potions they're offering." She also was not the best at conversing with others, most definitely not with any Kahi, and so she was honestly procrastinating asking for the herbs by browsing the shelves.
A curious expression crossed Chantara's features, but she nodded slowly. It was not as if it were her business to question the decisions of other Elidae, especially not when she rarely socialized with them. Maybe interacting with the Kahi was more common than she knew? "It should work." She admitted after a moment, glancing over the bottle once more from the side since the other Elidae was holding it. "Those floating bubbles are a sign that the brew was successful, but I would still suggest trying it in shallow water first. Worst case she breathes in some water and sputters rather than diving into the depths and finding out that it's not as potent as promised."

"Maybe you just came on an off day." Vetra shrugged. Her casual expression shifted into one of confusion and the Elidae raised a brow. "What's henbane?" She admittedly wasn't the studious sort or really the sort to put much effort into anything beyond her already ingrained routine. So even if it was a basic, well known herb in their community the likelihood of it sticking in her mind was minimal.
"Do you want me to ask while you keep browsing? I've already got what I need so beyond just looking at things I don't know the components of I'm cool with just going back outside." It wasn't as if she really wanted to barter and 'talk shop', but it would beat looking at bottles thinking 'that sure is red' before moving onto one that was 'slightly more red'.

Chantara simply looked at the other Elidae, her expression failing to hide her confusion at the statement. How could it be an off day? Was that true? If so then why did her family work so hard to provide medicines and potions for Sisters? She frowned at the very thought, deciding to focus on another potion bottle before the next question caught her attention. "A type of nightshade. It's not something safe that you would eat, but it's good for some calming medicines...when mixed properly. Some Sisters don't do well with ocean travel so they ask for medicine to help with that sickness." She would make small doses of it, especially for those who were planning on traveling overseas or wanted to go out on boats to fish around the area instead of simply hunting in the forest and nearby marshes.
"You don't mind?" Chantara found herself blinking in surprise, the Elidae chewing her bottom lip thoughtfully. It would be helpful if she didn't have to worry about talking to someone else. She barely could manage a conversation with another Elidae and her last conversation with a Kahi had been a bit messy. So she slowly nodded. "If...that's alright with you, I would appreciate it. I can help you with any potions in return, if you wanted. I know a thing or two about them."

Well, that made sense. Vetra had never really considered how the seas might settle with some, much less about any sort of 'sickness' it would bring. "Yeah, I don't mind. I need to pay for this anyway and I want to see if they have anymore on hand." She had a feeling Enya was going to need a lot of them if this worked out.
Pausing for a moment, she added, "Think you can find something here that would help with muscle fatigue? My shoulders have been aching something awful recently so any bit of help I could get with that would be nice." With that in mind, she left the other Elidae to do her wandering and approached what she assumed was the counter. At first no one showed up, but after a few moments a rather squat Hapuna shuffled to the counter.
Getting her potion paid for was easy enough, as was asking for others, but when it came to the henbane...
"Eh? Henbane?" The proprietor gave her a critical once over. "Little young to be dabbling in that sort of thing, aren't'cha? Youth today, gettin' worse and worse-"
"It's for sea sickness."
"OH well in that case yes, I've got some in the back. How much'll you be needing?"
"Just enough for a few batches." That sounded right, right? If she needed more she could always come back or maybe there would even be more in the cove.
"Alright then, just wait here while I fetch it." Vetra could only watched as she waddled away to the back leaving her alone at the counter.

"Thank you." The words were quietly whispered, but honestly Chantara did appreciate the other Elidae's help. It was just strange accepting such a thing, but she was not opposed to it. Chantara nodded at the question about muscle fatigue, working quickly to scour the shelves for an ointment or ingredients that would suffice whenever the other Elidae spoke with the shop keeper. Clutching a few empty bottles and a small vial of something, Chantara approached the counter and placed them there with some local currency.
"The vial should help if you rub the poultice along the sore muscles." She explained quietly, her gaze focused more on the counter than anything else. "If you want something better than you can find me back on the island, I'll be able to make you a remedy for any types of strains." Chantara promised, finally glancing over towards the other Elidae with a small smile. "Just ask for Chantara, they'll be able to direct you to my home along the edge of the village closer to the cove."

"Chantara." She offered a soft smile in turn and nodded. "I'm Vetra. I don't know that my work would be useful to you, but if you need anything from a smithy let me know." When the Hapuna came back around the counter with the aforementioned herb Vetra easily fell into the role of speaker and secured the transactions. While she wasn't one to step over others, especially if there was an easier way out, it was easy to see how uncomfortable speaking was for the other Elidae.
Once it was all said and done Vetra waved goodbye. In a way she was glad that Enya hadn't been with her. As sweet as the other Elidae was it would have been too much for Chantara and because of it Vetra now had some interesting potions to try out.
