Acasherosh was truly regretting spending an additional day in the city while waiting on his guide to finish up his own business. The tall hybrid grumbled another curse under his breath as he moved about the markets, the place that he had been hoping would have everything he needed before moving closer to Zinris, but so far he was not in luck. Out of all the countries for their cousins to be exiled and then for them to reconcile….Aisha must have some humor or a great sense of karma. It honestly made him wonder if the Yaeli had done something ages ago to be placed in such a strange rocky landscape so far away from the main continent. How had they come to this place in the first place and how did such superstitions and stories grow so rampant? Though as he watched another pair of Yaeli darting into any shop to avoid him the man thought it was best to not even worry about it. He simply had to make it to Zinris, visit his cousins and gather whatever supplies and information he could, and then he could just go straight back to the docks and return home. “My final day in the market…” Achashverosh murmured to himself, straightening his shoulders as he stepped forward to go through yet another side street. However, this time a little store caught his attention and the hybrid found himself pausing with faint interest. His father had asked him to seek out any unusual remedies or brews that he could dissect upon Verosh’s return and so it definitely seemed like this particular store would be helpful in fulfilling that request. It was a darker building of wood with a slanted roof, dust particles floating in front of the heavily amber stained glass that barely showed inside of the store, but the wooden sign with ‘potions and unusual remedies for curses and illness’ made him inclined to believe that surely there would be something of interest for him to bring back to Jahaur. However, upon entering the tiny store the hybrid felt a bit uneasy. There were several strange thing along the wall and the old Yaeli woman who came in from beaded curtains blocking off the back only stared at him before nodding and going back to her business. After another moment a younger boy came forward from the back, taking an immediate step back at the sight of Verosh before coughing into a hand and trying to straighten his own shoulders. “Just..let me know if you need anything.” He managed in heavily accented common, but Verosh was thankful that the boy at least spoke to him.
“Sure.” He already found himself picking up a bottle, his gaze narrowing as he gently swished the pale yellow liquid around. Something seemed to be in there? Was…was that an eyeball?! Verosh quickly placed the bottle back down, the Yaeli boy darting over to make certain it was secure on the shelf.
“That’s for seeing….err clairvoyance.” The boy explained. “It helps you to better perceive a situation by expanding your senses.” Verosh simply made a face before moving onto another bottle, this one looking almost like a murky brown that seemingly had scales in the liquid whenever he picked it up. “Friendship with an animal, limbara are extra sensitive to that one.” Verosh placed the bottle down before another and another. Some were made to ward off evil spirits, charm someone into liking you for the day, endurance and speed boosts with various other potions to boost physical assets. Verosh frowned before coming across a bottle with a seagreen color, the liquid almost looking like it glittered in the faint light within the store. “Oh! That one is for breathing underwater. Cool, right?”
Verosh found himself studying the liquid, the color more pleasing than others he had just picked up and there were some strange bubbles inside that almost reminded him of those wiggly creatures he had seen once before when visiting the ocean as a teen. Maybe his father would be interested in studying this and a few of those red health potions and the one for strength and speed? “Alright, I’ll take five.” He finally spoke to the boy, pointing out the ones that he thought his father would find interesting to study (hopefully he didn’t make Verosh drink them for research!) and then whenever the bottles were tightly wrapped up with cloth and placed into a secure satchel bag the hybrid passed over coins and simply nodded as the boy thanked him for his time. What a strange place Yael was…seriously potions just to reduce ire from imaginary spirits and others to try and charm someone into liking you? Only for one day? What would be the point? Verosh simply shook his head before continuing on his way towards the rendezvous point with his guide.
