Tendaji is a rich and diverse land filled with many different cultures and languages. While most travelers are fortunate enough to speak a common language, sometimes one might find themselves in a village where they can't communicate with the local population. How do you manage? Do you find someone to translate, or fumble along?
[ Tendaji has many different languages that the locals speak, and sometimes you might find yourself in a village or town where no one is speaking your language. Use this prompt to explore that miscommunication - maybe thinking about how hard it is to get your message across. Or connecting with a stranger who is helping you translate so you can make that purchase you need. What happens when everything is lost in translation? ]

Chiume's population was quite a small community compared to the rest of Balrea with Azehra being so young. Next to the island Ahmanet was born, was the only airship port Zenner. After her encounter with the Gaiean boy Ahmanet was admittedly more curious about the earthlings inhabiting the city. Ahmanet preparing for the journey made certain adjustments to her wardrobe covering herself in a cloak whilst hiding her antenna among her hair and covering her face with a veil. Her eyes however would be a giveaway if anyone dared to look to closely. Her bandages she wrapped thicker than the looser ones she preferred to hide her skin, Ahmanet was hoping they might think her ill and leave her be.
Nothing wrong with getting more information about those around you in Ahmanet's opinion, information was critical after all. Ahmanet was on her way out, her softer spoken mother gave a chuckle as her daughter passed.
"Trying to be inconspicuous?" her mother spoke knowingly as her daughter passed.
Ahmanet paused realizing at that moment she'd twisted everything so tightly she'd missed such an obvious answer. She was an Aishian, she towered over the earthlings, there was no possible way for Ahmanet to truly be inconspicuous. Without a word, the Vandrea pulled off the hood and her antenna rose back up, her golden eyes settling on her parental figure too embarrassed to actually say anything, she gave a bit of a sour scowl at being called out instead like the teenager she was as she exited her home.
Making her way back by boat to the mainland Ahmanet started traveling to the port city, from the map she started due north. Traveling through the countryside was nothing new to the Vandrea as she tended to stay off the roads. Camouflaged within the moss covered trees, Ahmanet peered out at a village that wasn't marked on her map, there weren't that many wood houses with grass on the rooves maybe a dozen. Patiently the vandrea watched for a while noting who was coming and going the village seemed to be more familial. Retreating back to the woods, Ahmanet planned to return after dark.
Golden orbs watched the sun retreat behind the thick trees, Ahmanet returned to her observation point. She started to approach the quiet village with most of the lights inside the homes. With the shadows she moved around the relatively dark village, peeking in windows to see how they lived so. Genuinely curious, Ahmanet went from house to house, doing her best not to catch the attention of those inside. The community didn't seem to be too concerned about dangers. There were some men on the other side making rounds but they seemed to be having a rather good time.
Someone shouted behind her in alarm, and Ahmanet quickly tucked between two houses certain the residents wouldn't be to happy with the appearance of some strange vandrea. She wasn't sure either if the shout it had been directed at her or otherwise because she's started to realize they were speaking a dialect she was unfamiliar with. The two guards were heading deeper into the woods so perhaps they'd seen some sort of animal.
A gentle high pitched curious voice spoke up behind her, it sounded almost like babbling. Ahmanet turned slowly to see who'd managed to sneak up on her, and it was a small child. her golden orbs settled firmly on the child, how Curious, and seemingly fearless Ahmanet noted having approached a sister without worry.
The young child uttered some more words, and Ahmanet still couldn't understand, perhaps they were still to young to have learned the common tongue, or perhaps it wasn't used as often in this more remote village as the guards seemed to be speaking their own version of the Balrean dialect. Ahmanet didn't want the child to run away screaming but how to explain she wasn't going to hurt her, the 6 foot aishian must appear terrifying to a much younger child all wrapped up in bandages. she pread her arms in a non threatening manor showing the child her hands that they had nothing within them, slowly kneeling down to come closer to the child's height.
"I cannot understand you little one." she said softly "I promise not to hurt you."
the child giggled, for some reason ahmanet wasn't sure, and said something else, pointing at her antennae in the soft words. This kid was fearless, and it genuinely impressed the Vandrea warrior as a older woman's voice called out and the child turned to look, a mother? grandmother perhaps? someone from their family. The child turned and started home waving to ahmanet. The Vandrea could also tell the guards were on their way back and she had to be on her way. [799]
