Crossing Paths

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Tendaji may not be bustling like the cities of ages past, but that doesn't mean someone can live their life without encountering someone else who is a bit...different. What is the story of you meeting a person who is going in the opposite direction. Maybe they are traveling and you meet in a cross roads, or maybe they are settling down to start a family while you're getting ready to leave. Or possibly it's someone with such a different personality it's like oil and water. This is your chance to tell us that story and what happens when you cross paths.

[ This prompt is all about crossing paths - briefly and of characters who wouldn't normally find themselves interacting with each other. Explore what happens when two people who are going in opposite directions (figuratively or literally) find themselves briefly encountering one another. We would like to see strangers meet on this one, so take some time to bring your characters out of their comfort zones. ]

Tyyn rubbed her eyes, wondering if she was seeing things right. She was still in Jauhar after her little run in with the bug mages, and wow what an event that had been. She had been planning on continuing on in her travels, trying to reunite with Ondine, but somehow she had woken up underground and well… the rest wrote itself. Though she couldn’t really stop thinking about the two she had met down there. Crocus and Zumei. There was something in their spark that resonated with Tyyn.

But she had somehow made it to Kueta, and though it wasn’t someplace she had ever been to before, at least there were people here. But now… what was it that was in front of her? A… circus?

Nedelle waved at Zaeryn, just having left his tent and traced her steps back toward her own abode. She had picked a spot closer to the outskirts of the troupe this time around, trying to… well… inconspicuously get Zaeryn and Vaena closer together. She thought they were cute though she didn’t know how to bring it up to Zaeryn yet. She should tease him about reading it in his cards. She made herself laugh at her own internal thought before she spun a quick circle and stopped when she saw a lost looking someone or other.

The olive colored girl with her brown hair and yellow eyes stood out to Nedelle, though she couldn’t pinpoint why.

She stared at the plethora of tents and wagons, the colors of all the different silks and fabrics contrasting against each other. It was interesting. That was for sure.

She made eye contact with a very colorful earthling, just as colorful and vibrant as the tents she had just been eyeing and raised an eyebrow. What… in the world?

She entered the little tent city and ducked under some staked down rope and hanging lines before she felt like she could have been pretty near lost. “Am I seeing right? What’s all this Matori stuff doing in Jauhar? Did my hosts hit me harder than I remembered?”

Nedelle watched the girl make several different faces, maybe processing the circus, before she just walked right in and stopped in front of her.

Nedelle beamed a grin when Tyyn spotted that their garb was Matorian. “Oh yes! You’ve noticed then? We’re Cirque Sirene! At your pleasure.” Nedelle over dramatically bowed in front of the leaf earthling before springing back up, her hair and decorations following her. “Are you here to see the show maybe?” She asked her.

Though her words hiccuped at her mentioning of being hit. “Are… you injured?” She asked. She looked over the girl and finally realized why the girl seemed to be standing out from the others who had passed by. She was filthy and scuffed up. “Oh my! Do you need help? We have a healer.” She offered sudden concern crossing her face.

Tyyn looked down at her own clothes, brushing some of the deep purple dirt off of it and picking some twigs out of her hair before she bellowed out a laugh. “You’re asking the wrong person.” She joked. Really she should be checking on the other guys. Poor dolts didn’t know what fer right now.

“I could use some cleaning up though. Say, you really hospitable in Cirque Sirene?” she said the name with some emphasis. It was just about the weirdest thing she had heard, but she would use these guys for what they were worth and then be on her way.

Her head cocked to the side, slightly confused before she visibly shook it off and resumed her natural smile.

“Some of us are, you could say.” She took Tyyn’s hands in hers before giving them a little shake. “You can clean up here. And take some clothes maybe.” She led the way to the community showers they set up and grabbed some random clothes from the line on her way.

“I’m Nedelle. I can tell you’re in a pinch. I can help.”

She didn’t expect such a warm welcome and an easy time getting what she needed, but hey, girls looking after girls and all that she supposed.

She looked at the garishly bright clothing that Nedelle had put together and grimaced slightly. But hey, free stuff. She would be home soon enough.

“I’m Tyyn.” She let Nedelle lead her to the showers before she leaned against the metal pole holding them up. “You… gonna join me?” She raised an eyebrow, shooting her shot wherever she could was a talent of Tyyn’s.

”Oh my no.” Nedelle laughed out, her high pitched giggle spreading through the whole of Cirque Sirene. “I’m flattered, but I’ll just wait for you, I’m sure.” She nearly herded Tyyn into the changing tent and flipped the clothes for her over the side of the shower stall.

“Listen, when you finish up in there, let me know and we can figure out where you’re going… and maybe you can tell me what happened to you.” She offered to Tyyn. She was sure whatever story she had would be incredibly interesting and maybe something she could interpret into her shows.

Tyyn threw out an exaggerated sigh and huffed her way into the waiting tent. “Fine, I guess.” She dragged out before leaving Nedelle.

She hurriedly tossed off all of her clothes before jumping into the cool shower and scrubbing her face and all of the dirt off of herself. She was worse off than she thought, her hair was a tangled matte. She might need to cut it after all was said and done.

Tyyn sighed as she stopped the flow of water and dressed herself in the new clothes. It did feel good to be clean.

Nedelle could tell that Tyyn wasn't one to preen herself just based on the amount of time she took in the shower. No fuss no muss, she could appreciate that even though that wasn't her at all.

"That was quick. You look good!" Nedelle pointed out once Tyyn left the changing tent. "The bright colors of the circus fit you."

Tyyn scoffed at the compliment but did look down at herself to assess her clothes. She had vibrant shorts on and an oversized shirt. It wasn't all bad, but not her style.

"Well anyways, thanks for the get up. It's better than the dirt." Tyyn gave Nedelle a little tap to the arm, if she wasn't one to be wooed she could at least be befriended.

She grinned again to Tyyn before grabbing her hand and nearly dragging her to the next set of tents. "You're welcome but you're not getting away that easy. You have to tell me what's happened to you. You have a story, I can tell." Nedelle laughed out at her own excitement.

There was a fire in Tyyn, she wouldn't be so... well gross looking without something interesting happening to her.

Tyyn let the water hybrid girl drag her wherever she wanted. She was usually the one to dominate the conversation but this was a hoot. Nedelle was just as confident as herself without all the extra aggression.

Tyyn sat with the water girl in the new tent, assuming it was Nedelle's personal room and dove into her story of the bug mages and being prisoner for so long. She waved her hands and exaggerated the exciting parts and when she was done she leaned back with a huff.

It was interesting stuff and maybe a once in a lifetime event.

Nedelle listened intently, her face showing all ranges of emotions as Tyyn told her story.

When all was said and done Nedelle sighed dreamily. "What a story. That would make a great show. " She mused, the gears already turning.

Tyyn might not stick around past today, but Nedelle felt like the whole encounter was serendipity. She would have to tell Zaeryn about it.
