What was this place?

Enceladus stared up at the dark sky -- tried to, but there were trees. And structures that towered overhead. There were no stars. And there was so much noise. And no water. It was still cold. Too cold.

He shivered as he looked around, trying to get his bearings, trying to figure out what happened. There had been a light, a call. He hadn’t really thought about it beyond wanting to get out of the ice.

Emotions came flooding over him and he dropped to his hands and knees in the cold grass to empty his stomach of, well… nothing. Just the rest of the water that he’d swallowed before.

That couldn’t have been his home. His world was warm and welcoming, not that icy hellscape. And yet… he’d felt the agony. Felt the heaviness of Chaos that desecrated such a beautiful paradise.

Why was he alive?

His head hurt. His memories were fuzzy. And he could still feel that creeping, sickening feeling of Chaos.

Only… it wasn’t his whole world. It was isolated.

Slowly, Enceladus looked up. He used the back of his hand to wipe his mouth as he searched for the source. Had Chaos followed him there…? Wherever there was.

Roselite didn’t often go out on his own. Sometimes, when Bloodstone was working and Roselite needed to fill his quota, he’d powered up in the city just long enough to snag some energy from the nearest person with a surplus before quickly scurrying away. He didn’t make it a habit of encountering the enemy without Bloodstone at his side.

The White Moon was dangerous. They’d killed officers and senshi alike, invaded the Dark Kingdom, kidnapped and tortured Roselite’s allies. War was war, and it would always be bloody and tragic — he knew both sides could be at fault for that — but the White Moon should never be underestimated, especially not by him.

He sensed the aura nearby — the sudden flare of it, like whoever it was had just powered up. They were weak. They wouldn’t have been a threat to a General like Bloodstone. They might not have even been a threat to some other Captain who wasn’t Roselite.

They were close. Too close. Roselite almost turned in the opposite direction. Almost left for home. He had his energy for the night. There was no need for him to linger.

Maybe it was that deep-seated need to be useful that sent him forward instead. There was always information to be gained. The more they knew about their enemies, the better off they’d be.

There. Close. A man with a strange outfit heading his way.

“What the ******** are you,” Enceladus asked, surprised by the raspy sound of his voice. Likely from misuse. Or the cold. Or swallowing water. Or… something else entirely.

“It’s like it’s seeping out of you,” he snarled, his teeth bared even from his place on the grass. “Doesn’t it hurt? Does it feel like poison?”

Because it felt like poison to him, and he wasn’t saturated in the Chaotic energy that left a metallic and foul taste in his mouth.

Roselite jerked to a stop. He blinked, momentarily confused.

What was he? This Senshi must be new if he didn’t already know the answer to that. Admittedly, Roselite didn’t know much about how Senshi were awakened, just that one of the cats had to be involved. This one must not have gotten much information before the cat scampered away.

Roselite felt bad for him.

“I’m—… um… no?”

The Senshi seemed young. Not too young. Not like the child Senshi. But younger than Roselite, certainly. Early twenties, maybe. With no one there to help him.

Roselite would have hated to be in that position. As much as he didn’t often agree with some of the things Bloodstone did, Roselite was glad to have his guidance, his protection.

“I’m sorry to intrude,” Roselite said, voice soft, uncertain. Maybe he could help this one, show him the Negaverse wasn’t anything to fear. They’d been good to Roselite. They could be good to a Senshi, too, if that Senshi showed loyalty. “Who are you?”

Enceladus snarled again at the soft voice and gentle questions. How dare this Chaos infested creature speak to him? After what happened to his world?

“Who are you?” he snapped back, pushing himself to his feet and swaying only for a moment as he regained his bearings.

With a flick of his hand, Enceladus sent his magic at the Chaos seeped person. There was a bubble of water that formed for just a moment--

And then failed and disappeared.

Enceladus stared in shock and quickly growing fury as he threw his hand out more viciously this time.

Engulf!” he barked out the name of his attack. He hadn’t had to use the name of his attack in so long, but if this place, wherever it was, was messing with his magic then he would just make sure it worked.

Except that it didn’t, and he was already panting from the use of two attacks. The second time faired no better than the first, splashing some water and then disappearing.

Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Engulf
Water with no effects of gravity forms an encasement around the target. The purpose is more to distract, provoke, or cause minor panic if someone is adverse to being submerged in water than it is to injure. It can slow a target down, make it difficult to see, prompt the target’s diving reflex to instinctively hold their breath. The water is shallow enough to manipulate and push it away from the nose and mouth if someone is desperate. The magic will disappear when the magic is over, so targets cannot drown from inhaling the water but they may feel the sensation of drowning or choking if they do accidentally inhale the water.

It lasts for 30 seconds before the water around them falls to the ground, and can leave the target winded and wet at player discretion..

This attack can be used 3 times.

“I’m—”

Roselite cut himself off before he could introduce himself. It may be polite, but it also wasn’t advisable, under the circumstances. Some level of secrecy had to be maintained, or he’d open himself up to danger.

He didn’t have much time to answer anyway. The Senshi threw magic at him. Roselite winced and backed away — too late. A bubble of water surrounded him, and then…

Nothing. The magic dissipated before it could do anything. It formed, then was gone, then formed again at the Senshi’s insistence, but it lasted no longer the second time. Roselite blinked, confused. The water hadn’t affected him at all, except to splash on his boots.

Did Senshi have to learn how to control their magic before it was effective? Roselite hadn’t thought so. For Kamacite and Cymophane, it had always seemed instinctive, effortless.

“I’m a Captain with the Negaverse,” Roselite blurted out before the Senshi could try again. “I don’t mean you any harm. You seem confused, so… I can help you. I know you’ve probably been told some awful things, but… well… I mean… Some of it might be true, but not all of it is, and—… Um…”

Clearly, Roselite wasn’t any good at this either, so he tried a different tactic. “I don’t want to fight you.”

His magic didn’t work. Why? Enceladus stared at his hands. They were red and blotchy and still shaking from the cold and ice he’d climbed out of. And this place was barely any better.

And the Chaos infested kept talking. He didn’t know what the Negaverse was, but he wanted nothing to do with it. They should all be sent back to the Cauldron to purify if they were like this Captain.

“Oh you don’t want to fight?” Enceladus sneered, his hands balling into fists. He lunged forward, throwing a punch at the Captain.

“I don’t want help from Chaos! You’re unnatural, evil. You destroy everything you touch!”

He had no idea what Chaos took over his world, but he knew it was Chaos. And any Chaos was bad.

Enceladus threw another punch at the Captain. And another. He wanted to hurt him, make him pay for the millions of people who died on his world. Even if he didn’t see them die, he knew. How could they have survived an ice age?

The first punch snapped Roselite’s head to the side. The second hit him in the stomach and left him winded. The third missed, but only because Roselite stumbled and fell out of reach. He righted himself as quickly as he could and tried to hold the Senshi off, wracking his brain for anything he could say to draw the onslaught to a pause.

“I haven’t destroyed you!” he countered, voice a bit of a harried squeak.

It wasn’t a lie. He could touch the Senshi, put his hands on him and hold him back, and not destroy him, or infect him, or whatever this Senshi thought he meant to do. Roselite didn’t even want to hurt him. That sort of thing was best left up to those agents who had less qualms about committing acts of violence and more skill in combat.

Roselite had a different skill set.

It probably wouldn’t serve him well here.

Stop!” he begged. “We can talk! I can help you!”

Some within the Negaverse might be capable of some truly awful things, but the same could be said for any group of people. The White Moon had harmed people. They’d tortured Roselite’s allies. They’d killed just as many over the years. They spoke like this, as if Roselite and his allies didn’t deserve to exist.

“There’s nothing to talk about!” Enceladus raged, lifting his foot with the intention of stomping down on the Captain that was claiming could help him. How could he help?

In the back of his mind, he knew that this man could probably help him figure out where he was. He could help him figure out how much time had passed. He had no idea how quickly such thick ice could have covered his world. A year? Two? How long had he been stuck there? And if everyone was gone… then what did he have left?

“I’m all that’s left, you piece of s**t. Everyone is gone, and now I’m here,” he seethed, not even knowing what he was saying. He didn’t want to listen. He didn’t want to let his emotions shift from rage to anything else, because what would happen when it did?

Enceladus could feel his hands shaking. This was more than just cold. This was exhaustion. He felt weary and wasn’t sure how much longer he could fight. But he had to because someone had to pay for what happened to his world.

Roselite avoided the foot, narrowly. He scrambled away, rolling to the side and slipping a bit as he tried to get back onto his feet. The Senshi was relentless. Even weak as the Senshi was, Roselite knew he was probably outmatched against him.

He would be embarrassed about it later. At the moment, all he cared about was putting a little space between them.

There was a pause, just brief enough for Roselite to turn and retaliate.

He used the bracelet Bloodstone gave him. His weapon could do more damage, but Roselite was wary of it. He didn’t intend to kill the Senshi — he could barely even stomach the thought — and would rather keep his distance, so the bracelet seemed like the better option. A beam of energy shot out, sudden and fierce, but not lethal. Maybe not even painful. Enough to give him time, to let him get his bearings without having to worry about fists and feet pummeling him at every turn.

Roselite looked at the Senshi. He considered the Senshi’s demeanor, his persistence in the face of weakness, considered how either of them might fare if the encounter continued.

He considered the Senshi’s worth, and decided Bloodstone probably wouldn’t find it a fair exchange for Roselite’s wellbeing.

“I’m sorry,” Roselite said.

He gnawed on his lip, guilty and nervous, but said nothing else before teleporting away.

Quote:
Metallic Bracelet - An antique bracelet made of metal, given to him by Bloodstone. It has the ability to amplify magic usage; this must be plotted with your roleplay partner before use. You must ask for permission to use this item in events/ORPs. When activated, this bracelet allows the wearer to get an extra use out of their strongest magic (up to third stage). They can only recover magic they have ICly earned; a Super Senshi may not get an extra use out of their Eternal magic since they have not unlocked it. Senshi can recover one use of their strongest magic, and Knights may recover up to 45 seconds of their energy pool. Mauvians will recover one extra use of their laser and will not be so exhausted after using it the first time. For Negaverse characters, or characters who do not usually have magic, they will instead gain the ability to fire a concentrated laser from the bracelet while in battle. The bracelet will only have a few shots (no more than five) and the strength of the blast is dependent on the character’s rank: At first stage or lower, the blast feels like a harsh slap, at second stage the blast feels like a harsh kick, and at third stage or higher the blast feels hot enough that it may cause the sensation of burning or stun the opponent if hit. Due to the uniqueness of youma/half youma characters’ abilities and powers, before equipping them with a Metallic bracelet, please PM the mule to work out details.
