10 years ago in the 2013 BitB Awards
I nominated Freakshow as RPer of the Decade
and as a collective, everyone in the community agreed.

But that was 10 years ago, and it's been a decade since then.
A lot has happened, a lot has changed
But there was this lingering thought in my mind...
Who would be next?

Obviously, the easiest choices would be people like Matt, Landry or King, Cart, even me.
And while it would be easy to point to my matches that won Best match, same with Matt, Landry or King.
I think a better pic for RPer of the Decade is in order, and well I don't exactly think part-timers should win it.

But from 2014 - 2023
There has been one constant person that has improved dramatically
Matured and prospered

So here's
MY pick for RPer of the Decade

Whether others see it or not or agree, it's just how I feel man.

I'll throw a name into the Sorting Hat.

Cartwright.

I thank you for believing the evolution in my work, and what I was able to put together with a few other great writers in F:G, BBW, and EWA was worth this sort of praise. I definitely think there's a problem in me being active at most in four of those years with obviously the random Nicky Delabtone Jr. work thrown in, but I appreciate the folks that do believe I could be in contention for this type of award. It means the world to me that, after everything I did during my first 7 years RPing and now reaching into my late-20s, people can look at the work I put together and think it was worth reading.

That all said, I agree with Salem, I think if anyone was going to walk out with this, it's gotta be Cartwright. I second that, and throw in Brad's work as Xavier X, Bad Boy, Good Question, the whole lot of them.

So my two cents on it, I started in 2012. This mania marks 11 years. In all that time, Cart has been underrated, undervalued, the most consistent against working whoever and wherever, never manipulated to get anything he's been awarded or has accomplished, and is a huge part of why the community is still around at all anymore. All respect to Hiro, he was my first friend here. But Carty has been my best friend here, and I'd be remiss not to nominate or vote for him.

As good as Cart is, he's NEVER been undervalued or undeserving, ever
You can put on a case for him without devaluing others
My point was that and I specifically stated myself, King, Matt, Landry and Cart would be too easy. Meaning that he clearly was NOT undervalued, that I saw him as one of five people in a completely different stratosphere.
When people talk of G Fedding, I promise you that Cart is one of the names in the conversation.
" Oh the thing Cart's in?" "Oh I know Cart. "
Which eclipses any accolade to me

But at the same time Hiro went from one of the most immature and hated individuals to a valued one, by himself. Cart never had to deal with that
Cart always gets his flowers, but to me I think that Hiro earned it.

I think theres a good argument about the award and how it should be judged. Both nominations are great and make sense. Should it be based around improvement or around fostering the community.

I’m of the opinion that Hiro has always rp’d really well and had a strong vision for his characters. I’ve always viewed his work as some of the most interesting and got people talking. I don’t personally think Hiro has shown the greatest range of growth (because he was hitting things out the park) but the opinion around him got better once people cared less about politics and drama. With that being said he should def get his accolades cause mans is beast.

And for Cartwright he is easily on of the most positive and community bolstering individuals we have. Never really felt any irrationalities or politicking from him and as Chrono stated, is a staple of our community. Consistency should matter especially in a decade that was wrought by inconsistency.

I’d also like to see more nominations if anyone had any and to do a proper vote would be fun and enlightening.

I wasn't devaluing anyone. But I remember Cart still being the 'tag team guy' when I started until his story with Matt in FG for the world title. Wasn't 'til then that I felt like people started giving him his due. But through everything, he's been dedicated, consistent, reasonable, more than most can say. And while not knocking Hiro, I love him, Cart was more active and influential this last decade. That's gotta be where the goal posts are, and Cart's in the end zone easily.

Good choice with Hiro! He's a top lad! cool
PostPosted: Tue Jan 24, 2023 2:26 pm

I don't argue your points but you have to understand something Salem, you weren't around when Cart was the top guy in all of Gaia, but that was a different era

and more to the point Cart was one of the longest EWA champions ever during this voting process.
Also a top champ in guilds you weren't in.

Again not to discredit Cart. Solid guy
Any other circumstances? I "would" pick him

But speaking of dedication, Hiro proved his doubters wrong. No one ever doubted Cart.

Also not for nothing but the biggest doubter of them all is the one that randomly out of the blue is saying "This guy above everyone else" deserves something.
It's got to count for something

For arguments sake though, I'm going to toss more names
Since we're going by timeframe so late 2013- current

Phoenixfire
Deserves a nod too, considering her 4+ year storyline that branched a lot of guilds, as well as had real life implications.

Joey as Tigah Hat and Tigah Girl
Absolutely nothing needs to be said there

Brantley Summers
Was he around for those years? No
But guy is still beloved to this day

Claire
Also should be in the mix

Major
For not only Major but J.W. too

I love all of those people, and they have great work. But I feel like most of those names have been mostly inactive and gone since 2014-2017(if not before that). And I feel like some sort of consistent activity is needed to win rp’er of a decade. Like how are they the rp’er of the decade if you weren’t around for the decade.

And yes that lowers the options, but that’s just how it is for it to make any sense for me.

With that being said Major was the first person I thought of when I saw the post, but had to disqualify just cause As far as I know I haven’t seen him active anywhere.

Not that anyone asked (I know, I'm irrelevant), and I don't care who anyone views as the "RPer of the Decade," but logically I feel I should probably point this out. Similar to Neo-Blade's comment, but a bit more... broad.

As one of the corpses that tapped out long ago, I gotta say, recognizing someone as THE RPer for a period of time where about 95% of the community has bailed out anyways is... well, let's call it a stretch. It's holding a town vote when everyone's left the town already. Sure, nothing's to say the vote is invalid; but what's the point?

I dunno how many 'guilds' have been around in recent years, I couldn't care if I tried, I wish everyone the best in what they're doing. But from my perspective, you have whatever Chrono is running, WWF:G I think (I don't know), and whatever Fox's project of the year is? Anything else, am I missing something? Probably not. The Venn Diagram of overlap there is, from the sounds of it, is not very ******** big it seems.

So if the Venn Diagram does not have a large overlap, you essentially have 1-2 separate communities. Not a whole G-Fed community anymore. Which is 100% fine, s**t dies. And the G-Fed community died, whether or not people want to accept that at face value.

"Yeah but we're trying to revive it."

No you're not. You're making your own community, which is again, 100% FINE. It's encouraged even. Clinging to some s**t that died ages ago and acting as if it any form of it is active and deserves recognition AS the old community is pointless. The old community existed because you had dozens of guilds and people with different ideas. It diminished to what, 30-40 at best? Still a sizable community. Now, how many people have posted here since? How many people have posted in any guilds in the past 5-6 years? What, 10? How many stayed active? You're giving someone flowers from a ******** dead rose garden.

Hiro's writing has come a long way. He deserves recognition. Major, Phoenix, Joey, Chrono, Brantley, Claire, Cart, Freakshow, keep filling the list, all great writers. But where has most of their work been in the past 10 years? The community's various guilds, or F:G and Chrono's projects? Because the G-Fed Community died 5-6 years ago, so to claim anyone is the best writer in a dead community is doing them a disservice. Honor and praise those within your personal communities; but to claim it under the umbrella of THE community is just... stupid.

This is not diminishing anyone's current groups. Chrono's Crew, Cart's Contingent, Fox's Friends, whatever the ******** your friend groups are, that's awesome that you kept them. Grow those communities and thrive, keep them tight knit and have fun together, whatever you want man. But stop telling yourself it's the G-Fed Community. That's where it started, but that's not what it is now. It ain't the G-Fed Community anymore, unless everyone gets along and has super active guilds outside of this old burnt-down town hall and I'm just not aware of it. Entirely possibly, after all, I'm just a ghost here.

Apologies if I come across as an a*****e, I've been dealing with people clinging onto dead communities for the past 2 years in other aspects of my life, so this triggered something in me. I don't get the resistance people have to making something new, especially when you all already ******** have. I have eyes in one of them, for ******** sake; and that's great! I love to see people grouped up together, I hope people are still writing and having fun together, whether it's wrestling or not. I'm a firm believer in friend groups sticking together. But it's not the G-Fed Community, that died years ago; I'd argue it was dead before I even opened BBW, because then, what was around? BBW, F:G maybe? Chrono was on a break. It was dead then, it's been dead a long time. Let it go.

And trusting this is just gonna get eyerolled and ignored anyways, or people are gonna try to argue that it's NOT dead or that they've been keeping the community alive (you haven't, btw; you've been running your own community), then sure Hiro. Always enjoyed writing with him in our short interactions and he's come a long way from the old days.

Don't bother refuting me please, I will not care enough after I wake up in the morning. Love you all and wish you the best.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2023 10:52 pm

You're not wrong, but the community died way before BBW, I'd venture to say that it died when EEW did, probably even before that.

But then with that said, a lot of great moments happened after that and even more so when we got that influx of new people, was it on life support then?
I don't know, between the people coming in from FWD, the Rise and Fall and Rise and Fall again of FG, BBW, WWE:E, and more.

What I'm getting at, is that the newer guard to me should get some recognition, and that includes those that were from 2013 and onwards.

Hiro isn't a part of my guilds, nor is he on my server
He literally had no say in anything there other than a few short quips before he deleted his account.

I'm not trying to revive the community said it countless times, am I sticking around? Sure. Have I entertained the idea of re-opening and letting people do stuff as they feel? Sure.
But ultimately the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and it seems that there aren't many or even a few that even want to do a simple casual RP there

I am content with what I do and have been doing, the fact that other guild owners let some of these events become canon was fantastic.

But to say where's their work over the past 10 years?
It's there, a fair question to say where is their work over the past 2 years
Really then it's 2014- late 2019 when everything closed.
Some of your best work for example was in that time frame Matt
As were a lot of others listed.

@Rosario
You probably haven't seen it because you were... Gone
A lot of people did a lot of great stuff, just saying.

Agreed! I’ve caught up on a lot of amazing stuff! Just some people have more content then others over the span of the decade. Some of them have so little that I wish there was more because it was absolutely good stuff! But I can only read whats been posted at the end of the day.

A ton of great writers and works in realm of wrestling rp. At the bare minimum, all the names being said having been atleast discussed and recognized is a nice sight.
