It was ridiculous. It was absurd. Retzian had been furious with her,t he first time they had met, but Dagon still found herself chasing every Captain aura she found, hoping to find her again. Sometimes, it meant a fight, if said Captain was up to something nefarious. Sometimes, it just meant seeing that it wasn't her and retreating.
But tonight, with a light snow falling on the ground, and Dagon's heeled footsteps crunching in the inch or two of present accumulation, she got lucky.
The sense of recognition wasn't any less dizzying the second time around. Seeing Kalari's eyes in a new face was disorienting and strange, but at least this time she knew to expect it.
"Hello, Retzian," she said, voice soft. She prayed, silently, to whatever deity was listening, that this time, Retzian didn't just run away, or try to kill her right off.

Retzian had been looking for a fight…well. Perhaps not looking for one, but she had been expecting it when she felt the aura coming towards her, and her weapon was already in her hand, eyes narrowed in suspicion. They only grew narrower when she saw just who it was.
The stupid fish woman of her dreams, greeting her as though they knew one another. As though they were friends. Or at the very least as though they had the potential to be.
“Good evening. I am going to assume you’re not planning on attacking me with your words or whatever that nightmare magic was tonight, because I doubt it’ll do the same to me as it did last time. The element of surprise is pretty much gone.”
At least…the Captain hoped that such would be the case.

Dagon crossed her arms, tilting her head to the side and regarding Retzian. It was so strange, to see a face so like her beloved's twisted up in suspicion, but it helped her see more differences than species in the woman before her.
"I wasn't planning on attacking you last time," she pointed out. "I will defend myself if you force my hand, but yes, I would prefer to avoid such unpleasantness."
To say the very least. The idea of flinging her magic at Kalari's reincarnation again made her sick. But, well, she was not going to lay down and die for anyone, not now, not after so very long.

Huffing softly, Retzian mimicked Dagon’s movements, crossing her own arms, the tentacles of the whip hanging down slightly as she did so. “I see. So you’re blaming me for attacking you after you spoke nonsense? That’s just like a senshi, isn’t it?”
She watched Dagon for a long moment and then spoke once again. “So tell me of them. The person who my Starseed once belonged to. They must have been someone important to you, or else you wouldn’t have looked as though you had seen a ghost.”
Perhaps…
Perhaps she could gealn something useful from whatever this senshi was going to tell her…perhaps…she could learn something worthwhile.

Dagon raised her eyebrows, like that particular statement wasn't even worth arguing with. "You attacked me. I responded to defend myself, with as little force as I could manage."
It was quite simple, as far as she was concerned. But at least....at least Retzian was asking questions now, and not just trying to chase her away. That was progress in the right direction.
"It is true. She was very dear to me."
She was my wife, Dagon wanted to say, but that seemed....far too abrupt. Especially when Retzian already seemed to distrust her. "We met when I was traveling the universe. She could fill up a room with her laugh, and she taught me how to dance. She was vibrant, full of life."
And she died in my arms.
"We knew each other for many years, before her death."

Retzian was watching Dagon, a small frown creasing her face, and for a moment, she stood there, arms still crossed, but then, she took a step forward, tilting her head to the side. “I see…and what was she to you? Just a friend who laughed and taught you to dance? A friend who was filled with life?”
Honestly, it didn’t sound like it. The way Dagon spoke of her…the wistful look in her eyes…
It seemed as though there was a lot more to the story that Retzian was not being told…and that annoyed her. More than she wanted to admit, it annoyed her. “What sort of dancing did you do?”

Dagon supposed that it was unlikely that her little deception would last long. Perhaps she was simply too fond of her beloved, perhaps she was just not very good at carefully choosing her words while her heart was a maelstrom, but. Well. She was clearly not particularly hiding this.
“No. She was not just a friend.” Something wistful crossed her face, and her eyes moved to look into the distance, like if she stared far enough away, she might see more of the past.
“…..We were wed twice. Once to satisfy the traditions of her world, once to satisfy those of mine. We joked, sometimes, about a third time, blending the two, but we never did. We had a daughter. Made a life. Were happy, until…” Dagon’s expression darkened. “Invaders came to my world, seeking its magical resources. They slew my wife, my daughter, tried to kill me, but made the mistake of leaving me where my world could give me back my breath. I spent centuries fighting them, until there were no more to fight, and I was alone.”
She fell silent, for a long, drawn out moment, before her gaze seemed to snap back to the present, and to Retzian, and she exhaled.
“….I could teach you to dance, as she taught me.

Retzian paused, tilting her head slightly. “Yeah…? And what if I’m no good at it? What if I have two left feet?”
Her heart had begun to pound, and she…wanted. Wanted this woman. Wanted her in her arms. Wanted to figure out a new life with her. Of course, that was to be expected when…well. When you had been dreaming about a giant fish woman for goodness knows how long…and then suddenly you have one saying that you have the soul of her dead wife?
…it would be…interesting to see what she could get out of this too. Perhaps.
Perhaps she would talk with Lopezite about it and see what he thought.
“If you think you can teach me, I’m willing to try. But it may end poorly for you.”

Retzian wasn't running. Wasn't screaming.
Was...taking her up on her offer.
Was this the first step, then? Would there be a way for Dagon to free her form the Negaverse's grip? The very thought seemed insane, but....perhaps....perhaps she could have this. Just one moment.
"Oh, I was terrible when she first tried to teach me. But that's alright. If it takes you a while to learn, it will take you a while to learn."
She extended a hand. An offer. To dance, for now, but for so much more, if Retzian would take it.

Retzian looked at the hand, and for a moment she closed her eyes, imagining it stroking her cheek, swinging alongside her own as they walked together…
Perhaps…
Perhaps with the right thinking, they could both have this.
And Dagon would look stunning in black…and that magic...
Dread belonged with Chaos, didn’t it? It simply made sense.
Giving a small smile, she reached out and laid her own in the Senshi’s. “Teach me then.”
