The spar yesterday with Soleiyu had gone well, and Stirling was feeling…well…pumped. Excited.
Sure, she had promised to try to not patrol alone…she wasn’t strong enough. Yet. Yet was the key word, and honestly, there was no way for her to get stronger but to patrol…and Soleiyu had said himself that Lysithea could heal things so if she got hurt…she could just call for help…it wouldn’t…be filled with any dignity but. She could do it if she had to.
The other aura she felt now wasn’t something that she felt she could be wary of…it was bright. Strong…and not…not scary in the least.
Quietly, she made her way towards the aura and saw a beautiful senshi in the colors of a sunset. The purples, reds and oranges were lovely to look at but...
After staring for a moment, opened mouthed, trying to take in all that she could, Stirling moved a little closer. “Excuse me? Are you any good at sparring? I want to get stronger, and you…seem very strong…if you’d be interested?”
There! That was smooth and made her sound utterly competent at what she was doing. Good job there, Striling.

Adria wasn’t often out at this hour, but he knew he’d seen one of the cats from a missing poster earlier, and he could move faster when he was powered up. It had still taken half an hour of gentle coaxing to win the creature over, but he’d recovered it and returned it, and it gave him the confidence boost he needed to power up again and do a quick patrol.
He was much happier to find a Page than he was a youma.
Even if she wanted to fight, at least he didn’t have to be worried about a real threat for himself–or her.
He smiled and waved, even if he was immediately nervous. “I seem strong? Oh, thank you. I don’t know if I’m good at sparring, I get a big squeamish sometimes. But I can try, if you like. Is there anything specific you want to try? I don’t have offensive magic, but I can do my best to do whatever I can to help. Oh–I’m Adria, hi. It’s nice to meet you!”

“It’s very nice to meet you, Adria! I’m Stirling, Page of Lysithea!” She grinned and looked pleased with herself, looking him over again. “...Can I ask though, why do you have wings on your butt? Is that a senshi thing? Or is that just you? Are you like Dagon and like…part…bird or something? Are you an alien too?”
Was that rude to ask? Could she just…ask people if they were aliens?
…Maybe.
Oh well. The question was out there now, and there was no taking it back. “I don’t have any magic at all, so that’s fine if you can’t like…do damage with yours…um. What can it do though? I’ve never seen magic before. Not…not really. My friend healed my other friend but that was about it.”

Page of–what?
It took a few seconds for the realization to cross Adria’s face and at first he thought he misheard, but now that she mentioned it, she did have Lysithea’s symbol–and those colors, and–
She was asking questions, so he had to shake the surprise so he could focus enough to answer her. “I’m not an alien, no. Um,” he half turned so she could better see his wings. “They’re just part of the outfit. I think Senshi are the only ones that get them. I’ve had them ever since I got promoted to Eternal. I think it’s pretty standard. I’m not sure why, I can’t really do anything with them. So my magic–do you want to see? I can use it in the spar. You can see if you can try to overcome it, maybe?”
He turned back to face her. “I can cast it now, you can see if you can break through the magic? And then we can try, well, hand to hand combat, if you want.” That was spar-y, right?

Stirling nodded. “I would love to see your magic! Please! If that sounds like a good way to learn to you, I’ll do it! I’m sure I’ll be able to break through it, I am pretty strong, you know.” She looked almost smug…it was true though, it wasn’t really just boasting…she was boasting but. Still.
She could back it up. Even if Solieyu had managed to reach her head yesterday. That didn’t count. Stirling was simply holding back against the cat since he was so…
Small. Ish. Kind of small.
Smaller than she was, at any rate.
“Don’t tell me what it does, just…lets try it and we can see how quickly I’ll break free!”
Was that what he meant? Overcome it? Break free…maybe it was going to be a cage or like a portable escape room?
Whatever. She could do it no matter what it was.

Adria faltered for a brief second, but Stirling was determined that she could handle whatever he could throw at her. It didn’t seem fair to use his strongest attack, so it made sense to start with his basic Senshi magic.
“All right, then…Good luck!”
He wouldn’t doubt her strength, and he wouldn’t give her any more clues about his magic. If she wanted to solve it by herself–wanted to push through it without any tips–he wasn’t going to stop her.
A little extra practice never hurt, anyway.
Quote: Sailor Scout Attack: Setting SunAdria summons a baseball sized glowing orb into his hand and is capable of throwing it up to ten feet away. Once thrown, the orb, mimicking a sun, will begin to set. Everyone within a five foot radius of the orb will feel a peaceful warmth wash over them; they will feel compelled to watch the orb set. It is relaxing but not threatening; the orb can do no damage to anyone who comes in contact with it nor the ground beneath it. The attack is primarily distraction and stronger willed individuals can break free of its spell. It will last for thirty seconds and can be used three times per battle.

All right, here came the magic here…oh.
Stirling blinked in confusion and stared at the bright orb that appeared in Adria’s hand, her mind going rather blank as she stared at it.
This…was magic? This…was nothing more than…what, the sun? A sunset? It was pretty, and…well, she couldn’t look away. Didn’t want to look away.
It felt warm and…looked like how sunsets were supposed to look…like how they looked in pictures and movies and…
The orb began to move, setting like the real sun did, and…oh.
When the magic had faded, Stirling blinked in some confusion and then her cheeks colored with shame. “...Um. Was….was that…the whole thing? The…whole magic was…the ball going down…wasn’t it? I…that was a massive failure….wasn’t it?”
The grin she gave was hesitant, and it was clear that she was unhappy with the fact that she hadn’t broken through…though…she hadn’t known what was coming either…
“...If we ever do this again…no, when we do this again, because I hope we can! I won’t let myself just. Look at it…but…it’s very pretty!”

Adria had stood by and watched as he fiddled with his gloves. She seemed completely dazed, and while he probably should have been proud that his magic was so effective, he still found himself feeling a bit guilty that she hadn’t broken through it easily.
She was new, though! And only a Page! She didn’t have any magic of her own.
“It’s okay,” he insisted. “It–yeah, that’s the whole thing. But it’s supposed to be distracting. I’ve used it to buy some time to get away, or to give my teammates an opening. But it’s not–you didn’t fail. It was still a lesson. I still get distracted with my magic sometimes. Do you want to try again? I can cast it again. Now that you know what you’re dealing with, you might be able to break through it! I think you can, I believe in you. You seem very determined.”

Stirling thought about it, and nodded eagerly. “Once more, please? I’d really like to try again? Plus…it really is quite pretty to look at…but I won’t look for very long this time. Honest!”
In preparation, the Page planted her feet firmly on the ground, and then grinned up at Adria. “...if I don’t manage to look away…can we do this again sometime? Do you want to be friends maybe? You seem very strong and I think…I mean. It might be good for me to know strong people. If you wouldn’t mind too much?”
Sure it was…relying on someone else…but this was a connection that she had made on her own, so…it was just another step in her own path to growing stronger.

Adria nodded; he was an agreeable sort, and Stirling wanted to practice and get stronger. If he were in a real battle, he still had a few other more powerful magic options to use. He wasn’t doing himself a disservice to practice with her–and he’d probably go right home after this, anyway. He wanted to text Lysithea about this Lysithea Knight, too.
“We can do this again,” he promised. “I know some strong people, but I don’t think I’ve ever really thought of myself as such. But if you want to get stronger we can practice together, and I can introduce you to them, too.” He’d swap phone numbers with her after this.
“I’m casting again, I hope you’re ready!”
He gave her a few seconds to prepare, just in case, and repeated his magic.

Was she ready? She thought so, but again, when the glowing sun came into her line of sight, Stirling found herself utterly taken in by it, though she did manage to pull her gaze away before it had fully vanished…so that was a win, was it not?
Grinning up at Adria, she nodded. “That…that was better yeah? Not great but…I think maybe if we do it again next time, I’ll be better still!”
Was it possible to train your mind to ignore magic? If…that was the case, it would be something worth looking into!
“I want to practice together with you and your friends, yes please! I’m so glad that I met you, Adria! Thank you for helping me!”
It had been fun…and beneficial, at least…it seemed so. And now she would get more friends out of this and more practice and…oh, she was lucky!
Soleiyu would be proud! And hopefully the boys would too!
