Personality: Akahi is a carefree Hapuna if ever there was one, going with the flow quite literally at times. The best way to spend a day in their book is playing in the surf or sunning on the beach with a little adventure sprinkled in between. Akahi doesn't stray too far from their home but by Hapuna standards they've been stricken with an alarming amount of wanderlust. Akahi's motivation for straying 'far' from home is to meet new friends and learn all about them and their lives. Learning is by far Akahi's favorite thing to do and they've always got some new hobby they're working on.
Unfortunately, Akahi usually doesn't stick with whatever skill they've taken up. Whenever a new friend comes by with a different talent, Akahi will abandon whatever they were practicing to try their hand at whatever it is their new friend can do. Maybe one or two things stick with them, but they truly are a jack of all trades but master of none. Along with their limited attention span is a severe case of believing anything anyone tells them. If someone said 'gullible is written on the ceiling' Akahi would look up. This can definitely lead to less than savory characters taking advantage of them, but thankfully Akahi hasn't met anyone truly devious...yet.
All in all, Akahi is a fun Hapuna to be around as long as you don't mind stepping a bit outside your comfort zone and being there to keep them from doing whatever some random stranger tells them to do. They're really just out to make friends and have a good time!
History: Born and raised in the Great Inland Reef, Akahi grew up like most little Hapuna do - learning to respect Mother Ocean, build shelters, swim, sunbathe, and stay out of trouble. Despite their fairly generic upbringing, Akahi quickly began to stand out among their peers due to their inquisitive nature. Sure, most youths have some amount of curiosity, but Akahi would push the limits to what some considered reckless.
As time went on and they grew up, Akahi never lost that drive to learn and explore. It's never truly come back to bite them which is probably why they're still so enthusiastic about stretching their adventures further and further from home. That being said, Akahi's parents (NPCs) have always supported them and their curiosity even if they don't quite understand it themselves. Why look beyond what you have when everything you could possibly want is right here? Still, they love their child unconditionally and Akahi never wanted for anything and grew up in a very healthy environment.
Although Akahi is very outgoing and friendly, they've always struggled to make friends due to their slightly against the grain ways. It's something that has always bothered them and Akahi longs to make friends that aren't Hapuna, thinking they might understand them better than their kin.
