“Babe did the rest of the decorations come? Did you get the purple ones out of the garage?”
Ryan walked out the kitchen and smiled at Ivanna and Nikolai sitting in their little high chairs and bobbing to the christmas morning, Ivanna more so than Nikolai. Nikolai whined wanting to be held but Ryan ruffled his hair and lightly told him to wait a moment. He had to find the other carrier because he knew Nikki wasn't going to want to be put down. Him and Silas were such daddy’s boys.
“Have you seen the other carrier, Mitry?”
-----
Did he bring the purple decorations?
Dmitry blinked and double checked, looking down at the neatly organized bin that held all the decorations he's brought out so far. He sighed, seeing no purple. “No, not yet….” He spotted the carrier down in the living room once he came out of the garage, grabbing it while on his way to the kitchen tapping Ivanna on the nose while picking Nikolai up so he could place him in the carrier once it was secured on Ry. Nikki did squirm and whimper, which Dmitry looked down and raised an eyebrow. “I get it, you want daddy but patience little man… You want to wake your little brother?”
His voice was stern but not scary, which caused Nikki to settle down. He already knew that while he might get away with fussing with Daddy, Papa was another thing. Once the toddler settled, he waited for Ryan to place the cookies down, working on getting him ready so he could position Nikki carefully, stealing a kiss to Ryan’s neck, “You spoil them too much…”
-----
The cookies down to cool, Ryan waited patiently while Dmitry helped with the carrier and with Nikki. He chuckled and pretended to bite his husband's nose. “Yes, but they are only this little once and it doesn't hurt to hold your babies.” He could feel Nikki’s little lead settle against his back listening to his heart beat, something the toddler loved to do as often as he could. He was always laying on Dmitry and Ryan with an ear pressed to them.
Ivanna on the other hand was more interested in the cookies and pointed at the exclaiming, “Oookies!” More loudly than was appreciated, but the Christmas music was loud enough Ryan doubted her shouts would wake her brother.
“After decorating Livvie baby,” he said, getting her out of the highchair and putting her on the ground and trying not to give into her adorable pout. Maybe he was too indulgent, but his parents also spoiled him quite a bit.
-----
Dmitry grinned and picked Livvie up, “Very true….Still though…” he gently tossed Livvie on his shoulder, “I gots me a bag of cookies right here don't I Livvie baby?!” The toddler squealed as ran from the kitchen into the livingroom, twirling around in a circle.
-----
Ryan turned smiling at his husband, marveling at this life he honestly never thought he’d want. The desire for kids had honestly seemed to come out of nowhere. He headed into the living room and grabbed some garland from an open container and started to put it neatly on the fireplace. He wanted to set it up first so he could hang the stocking. It was their first year with five stocking, adding one for Silas.
“So whose house are we doing Christmas dinner at and do you think we should plan a white elephant? Though I feel like with our group it might get out of hand?”
-----
Dmitry stopped swirling for a second to place Livvie on his shoulders, Christmas dinner? He didn't really think that far but maybe it was time to figure it out. “I'm thinking…..We all get together at Mercy and Cass’s place.” Good food? Check. Not their house? Check. Kids have playmates? Also check. A tripple win if he had any say in the matter. “What do you think?”
-----
“Sounds like a plan to me, thanksgiving was at David’s this year, so why not have Christmas at his daughters place. I’ll mention it to them and see what they say. What about the white elephant … though again maybe a spending limit so everyone doesn't go overboard.”
He grabbed a couple pieces for the mantle and placed them before grabbing the weights for the stockings. “Put the tree over on that side, love,” he said, handing the stocking one by one. He turned to show Nikki his stocking.
“You see your stocking baby boy, right next to your sister and your brothers.” The stocking was labeled Nikolai Oliver. Nikki wasn't paying attention peakink briefly before snuggling back into his daddy's back.
-----
“You know we will have to talk to Cass as well right? You know Mercy is quick to say no for anyone coming over for some odd reason.” He knew it had nothing to do with the boys and everything to do with the fact that she is always trying to become one with Cass every moment she gets. Honestly the woman sounds worse than he was as a teenager. Not that Cass wasn't attractive or anything [man looks like a ******** model, yet he teaches at a university….Make it make sense.], he just wasn't sure if he would be as calm if Ryan was trying to jump him at every opportunity.
Oh yeah, white elephant.
Dmitry took the tree and placed it where Ryan wanted, thinking on whether there should be a white elephant this Christmas. “I think we should do a white elephant…I wouldn't mind that. Limit should be 250.00 though. I also think,” He winced when Livvie pulled some of his hair out of the bun he had it in, “There should be some adult activities as well for when the kids go to sleep. Like Cards against humanity or some other s**t. Maybe some drinking games as well. Think we should bring overnight bags too just in case?”
-----
Ryan laughed and nodded, “yes that’s so true, my bestie is funny like that. One would think she would get use to the invasion of space that is our friend group, but that doesn't seem to be the case.”
He looked around listening to his husband talking about the white elephant and nodded, “yes I think those are all good idea. Even though knowing the kids they will try to stay up for as long as humanly possible.”
He frowned looking through the boxes, he saw all the silver and blue decorations, but none of the purple. “Babe did you leave the purple decoration still?”
He smirked and started to sort through the silver one, “can’t have a purple, blue and silver tree without the purple?”
-----
Oh s**t!
Dmitry blinked and moved with his daughter over to the boxes that had the purple decorations in them. “Sorry baby~” Ivana held onto his hair as he moved about, allowing him to use both of his hands. “Still doing good up there princess?” Ivana laid her head down on top of Dmitrys hair, yawning, “Princess okay papa…” he chuckled and sat the box down with the others, moving closer to Ryan to look at Silas. Little head of blonde hair just poking out while he slept. “I might want to hold him when you're done.” He knows their youngest has a strong affinity towards his daddy but there were times when he liked being held by papa as well. Usually after hes had a good nap. While the kids would try to stay up, he was sure they would fall asleep in the long run.
-----
Ryan laughed and nodded, “yes please, the pair of them are heavy, but not as heavy as both the twins or trying to hold all three at once.” He grabbed the bin and removed the lids to sort through the purple decorations.
“Thanks babe,” he said looking for the purple ribbon he intended to wrap around the tree. “Do you still have the picture of the tree, you and our little Princess can pull out some of the decorations we need.”
He stood with the ribbon and made his way over to the tree to put it up.
