Quote: Prompt 9 (The Snowmen) : Destiny City has no shortage of creatives looking to take advantage of the snowfall, so the snowmen popping up around the city are not so surprising, themselves. It’s how often you keep seeing the same snowman. Maybe someone’s making identical snowmen across the city, but there’s just something off about it. Sometimes the same snowman will be facing a different direction than when you last looked at it, or maybe it’s moved altogether. Sometimes in what seems like the blink of an eye. It never moves while you’re watching it, but when your eyes aren’t on it, there’s no telling what might happen. It could be someone playing a prank on you, but why? And how are they getting away with it? The snowmen can’t be moving on their own, right? It doesn’t help that when the weather warms a bit and they begin to melt, they morph into hideous, frightening monstrosities. Somehow, even those seem to be stalking you, right until they completely melt and disappear. Wavellite knew that this city was…weird. That had never been up for any sort of debate. She knew that the city got…well. A temper during the holidays, and she half wondered if it was due to all of the emotions in the air or…or something. There was just something wrong with this place.
The amount of fear that she was beginning to have over a snowman was…well. It was getting ridiculous. It started yesterday and so far she had seen the exact same snowman eighteen different times. Not to include the time that it was outside of her apartment and just kept…moving. Each time she looked out to see if it was still there…well. It was. In different locations. At different angles.
She…honestly really hated this.
After seeing the cursed thing on her patrol, Wavellite let out a cry of mingled rage and fear and teleported to the complete other side of the city, wanting to just get away. As far away as she could…but of course, as she got her surroundings back in her sights she felt a senshi…and saw the same green haired broom senshi from the other night. “Oh. You. Listen, I have bigger things to worry about than the likes of you but…”
Her eyes were darting around the area they were standing in, and her left one kept twitching slightly. “...You um. Haven’t seen any snowmen…have you?”

Sinistra was on guard the moment she recognized the source of the aura, recalling their previous encounter and how poorly it had gone. Upon further review, once she got back to her apartment and had deconstructed the event with the companionship of her cat to keep her calm, she realized she had been very firm in her responses.
And maybe she had not been as polite as she could have.
She would try to do better this time, she resolved. Even if she was getting better at fighting and protecting herself, she had to remember Camelot's training to not use it at all if she could avoid it. If.
With this one, Sinistra was sure that was a very big, very easily shattered if.
"Snow...men? What?" Sinistra blinked, looking around and wondering vaguely if this was the set up to some very weird trap. Did she need to be careful of snowmen, or were there none and this was just a trick to get her looking in a different direction? She was unsure but found herself looking around regardless. If it was a trap, her guard was down almost instantly.
Another note to work on later.
"Uhm. Should I be looking for snowmen? Have you... lost yours?" She grimaced when she heard her own question.

“I hope that I’ve lost mine. I swear it’s following me, and I’m honestly freaking out now. It’s been days and I just.”
Wavellite was pacing slightly, feeling drained from the teleportation, but riding on the high of her adrenaline. “You don’t understand. It was outside of my apartment and it just keeps moving. I look out my window and it’s gone, and it’s on the other side of the grass, but then I look again or I go to get the mail or I just…go to grab some soup because it’s cold and it’s somewhere else! It’s by the mailbox. By the corner store…it’s everywhere.”
There was a very large chance that Wavellite just sounded utterly insane, and she knew it but…she had to unload to someone, and if this Senshi wanted to listen…fine. And she already thought the worst of her anyway so what did it matter if she sounded crazy. Who cared!
“I was on patrol and I heard a strange noise and I looked, and boom, there the ******** was with his stupid smile...I swear the smile is like…insane! And it has this…hair...it’s like straw? But it’s gross straw like someone grabbed it from an animal pen and it just.”
Wavellite rubbed her face. “I think it wants to kill me or something and honestly. This is Destiny ******** City so why the hell not, you know?” Looking at the senshi, she shrugged, imploring her to understand or something.

"You... hope?"
Sinistra could officially say she had no idea what was going on. Was this a metaphor? Or perhaps some sort of war code the Negaverse used? If so, it was surprisingly... adorable... of them, but it still made her feel tense and uncomfortable. What did the word 'snowman' stand to mean, then, was beyond her grasp.
Clearly something dangerous.
Seeing how very upset the Captain was, though, made Sinistra's heart tighten. She was immediately struck by the desire to help, to soothe, even if the last time they encountered one another the Negaverse soldier had definitely been focused on corrupting her. it was dangerous to even step toward her, let alone do what Sinistra was in the process of doing before her instincts could even voice protest.
"It's alright," she said carefully, reaching a hand, which hesitated for a moment in the air, and placing it on Wavellite's shoulder. "Now that you mention it, it does sound like something that would happen here. But I don't know about the killing part. If it is following you, and is around here, how about we smash it? Maybe a bit of magic against magic will stop it."
She was not sure, but then, she had never been stalked by a snowman before.

Wavellite gave the senshi an exasperated look. “Of course I hope. Would you like to be stalked by a snowman? Like, as crazy and stupid as it sounds, and believe me, I know I sound both crazy and stupid, and I’m not sure which one’s winning at the moment, but I know they’re both trying to be the leader…it’s the truth and it’s honestly freaking me out.”
This had been a bad idea. Talking to this stupid, rude senshi had just been a bad idea…and now Wavellite felt worse about everything so.
The hand on her shoulder made the Captain pause and she shot another look at the senshi of brooms, brows coming together. “...I mean that magic you used on me might make him lose his head, and honestly…that…”
Her eyes flickered up to behind the senshi and Wavellite’s face drained of color. “...That might be um. Helpful right about now.”
The thing was here. Menacing, creepy smile and dirty straw hair. One of the stick arms was reaching towards Wavellite and if she had to put an emotion on it, it looked pissed.
“...I could…slice it if you can broom it into a tree…?”

"I can tell that you're being honest," Sinistra said with a gentle look she had seen given to herself many times. She had picked up a few habits from the people that trained her, but her king personality was something she always tried to keep with her. And if someone was being honest with her, they deserved the best chance she had to offer them.
She saw the color drain from the Negaverse soldier's face, a shudder crawling down her back as she turned to see the source of all this confusion. It was a literal snowman, looking as creepy as the other had described. But Sinistra had just come from that way, and there did not even look to be enough snow on the ground to build one of those things. Let alone build one that close without her even noticing it while she was talking.
Turning, she defensively put herself between Wavellite and the snowman, lifting her fists as if she expected it to attack. But it did not. It did not do anything at all, in fact. But that creepy look on its face was enough to get Sinistra nodding exuberantly.
"You're right. Let's get it. I don't want that thing to exist any more."
She focused, letting her thundering heart settle, and called her broom to her hand. It still made no move toward them, no obvious sign that it knew it was in danger. No sign that it was alive in any way, actually, but Sinistra whole heartedly believed that it was following Wavellite like some sort of horror movie curse.
It had to be stopped.
"Sonic BROOM!" she called, sweeping her broom forward and finding herself not holding back despite mostly knowing she was attacking a pile of snow.

Wavellite watched as the senshi not only did not laugh, but went right to attacking the snowman with no real questions asked. She watched, mouth open slightly as the same broom magic that had been used on her was used on the stalking creepy…not sentient monster….
And watched as he hit a tree and fell apart rather instantly.
Finally, she had enough of watching and made her way over to where the remains of the thing were and began slicing them through with her saber. “How do you like that punk! You want to follow me, well now you see the cost of following me! Nobody liked you anyway!”
Wavellite knew that she was acting crazy. She felt crazy. Felt utterly off balance and rather insane but…this had been a problem…the snowman had been a legitimate problem and now it was solved and…
She should say thank you!
Drawing in a breath, Wavellite turned to face the senshi and beamed, the smile only holding a touch of madness. “I take back what I said, I’ll give you the offer again since you’re really good in a pinch…do you want to come with me and be my sister and we can kick creepy snowman a** forever? I promise it’ll be fun! I promise I’ll be a good sister!” There was a slight edge to her voice and her hand extended once more, hoping that this time she wouldn’t be spurned.

Sinistra let her broom disappear, not using its second attack despite knowing she could not call it again for a little while, as she watched the Nega attack her demon. Or whatever this thing was. It was the Christmas season, after all.
Maybe this was some weird version of A Christmas Carol?
Whatever it was, it was gone. The snowman was nothing but chunks of ice and a couple of twigs now, and Sinistra felt certain it had deserved it. It should not have been stalking anyone, even this sort of off balance Negaverse soldier, like that. No wonder she had gotten so unnerved, with that gross face always behind her. Sinistra had only seen it once, and it was more than enough for her.
"Oh... sweetie," Sinistra sighed, knowing it was a risk but seizing Wavellite's hand in hers. Instead of holding on to it, though, she gripped it from the bottom, then cupped her other hand over it as if sheltering the Nega's hand within both of hers. She watched Wavellite thoughtfully, slowly shaking her head.
"I can see how much it means to you, I really can. But I can never join you. Not while you're steeped in Chaos like this. I'm a being of light. I always will be. If you take me to your side, you'd lose me. You'd have a shell. It wouldn't be worth it, not really. We'd never kick any butts together, and there definitely wouldn't be any fun. But how about this? When I see you, I won't hurt you. And if you see me, we won't fight. Okay? We can be... friends."
In the back of her head, she heard the voices of both Camelot and even the much more relaxed Carlisle screaming at her, but she ignored them. She had to figure out her own way, and be true to it.

When she felt the senshi take her hand, Wavellite utterly beamed and tried to gather herself up to teleport them both to Negaspace. It would take the rest of what she had, but after a little nap or two she would be fine, and then the two could work on figuring things out, the Captain and her new Corrupted sister and…
Her words finally reached Wavellite’s brain and the smile slowly fell off of her face, being replaced by what was unmistakably a heartbroken frown, and then a scowl. “...Well. While your offer is…tempting. Or something. For some. I suppose.”
Wavellite drew her hand away and took a step backwards, unable to meet the senshi’s eye again. “I’m going to have to decline. How about you and I just hope that we don’t meet in the future, or I’ll be sure to slice you up just like I did that stalker over there. I really thought.”
She swallowed, her eyes stinging slightly. “I really thought you had potential. If you’re a being of light, I’ll simply snuff you out. Good day, Senshi of Brooms.”
And before she would allow the girl to see that her eyes were brimming with tears, Wavellite turned and teleported away. It wasn’t worth it. Misguided fool.

Sinistra sighed, watching as the other pulled away from her and feeling a strange sting in her chest for it. She really wanted nothing but the best for everyone, but it seemed some times getting there was really difficult. She had no idea what to do help Wavellite, or if she even wanted or needed help.
That made things even more complicated.
"Okay, well..." Sinistra tried, but the other had disappeared before she could really say anything. That look on her face before she vanished had been so hurt, while Sinistra had put so much effort into being as gentle as possible this time. The poor thing. Was that a result of the Chaos that corrupted her? The confusion and the determination to take what she wanted. At least she had left peacefully. Maybe that was a sign of hope.
Sinistra sighed, rubbing her eyes and turning to head back toward her normal patrol route, and away from the remains of the snowman. Not that there were any, as the entire thing had melted and gone, as if it had never been there in the first place.
