For a long while after receiving the text from Juniper, Marquette couldn’t do much other than stare at it and try to puzzle out why she was being called Nelson. Her name didn’t sound remotely like Nelson, so it couldn’t have been a typo…then again…perhaps it was a mistake from autocorrect? That…made a little more sense, but not…much. That was a far reaching jump if so…
She reread the message again…it was a thank you message for some hot chocolate the other night and something about meeting up again to try to go to the café…and…
Oh.
Oh this text wasn’t for her. The grin that spread across Marquette’s face almost hurt and the smugness she felt at the thought that perhaps this was the result of the gym membership she had brought Juniper was just too much to handle over text messages…and honestly, calling wouldn’t be ideal either but.
She did it anyway, her expression utterly self satisfied and absolutely smug.
When Juniper answered, she didn’t even hesitate. “Spill it. Who’s Nelson? Tell me everything. Right now!”

Aw ******** was going to kill ******** ******** ******** ******** ******** one." Juniper shot back. "Absolutely no one. There's nothing to tell. Nothing."
A lie. One he knew Marq wasn't going to buy. He had about thirty seconds before Marquette either called him demanding answers, or manifested within five feet of him and grabbed him, holding him hostage until he gave her answers. With a sigh, he gave up.
"Nelson is a friend. I think he's a friend? I just met him the other night. There's literally nothing to tell Marquette. I don't know what you want me to say."

“I want you to tell me everything! What do you mean about a cafe? You two had hot chocolate? Was it good? What’s he like? Tell me everything...or, actually…I kind of want to meet up with you so I can judge your expressions to the minute details…what are you doing right now? Can you meet me somewhere? I’m going to tease you about this for the rest of forever, this is your life now…and how did you manage to get our names mixed up?”
Marquette finally drew in a breath, going to pull some socks on. If she was going to go out…this was the best reason in the world to do so.
“Tell me first though, did you meet him in the gym? Did my perfect gift start this friendship slash maybe more than friendship? You think he’s a friend and does that mean I can smell romance blooming? Are you going to the gym? I’m so proud of you, you know!”

Juniper groaned.
Why was she like this.
"I was in a cafe. Weird Destiny City stuff happened and the cafe froze over. Nelson happened to be there. We got the hell out, had hot chocolate. The end."
Absolutely not 'the end.' But SHE didn't need to know that.
"No I absolutely did not meet him with your 'perfect' gift. No, I'm doing anything. Aside for being grilled for no reason about silly things. I don't know what you're smelling." Juniper rolled his eyes as he continued shooting off text after text. "By the way, you're getting on ME for mixing up texts... So you're telling me, you've never shot the wrong text to the wrong person? Never misclicked? It happens. It was an accident Marquette."
End him.

“Are you sure it was an accident and this wasn’t your way of telling your favorite big sister what’s going on in your life?” She was his favorite big sister, even if it wasn’t true to him, it was true for her, and she was proud of that fact. Her run in with that stupid senshi of brooms refusing her offer of sisterhood still tasted rather bitter in the back of her mouth so…she would just dote on Juniper.
Even if that doting came mostly in the form of merciless teasing.
“So, I’m not smelling anything but a rat. A romantic rat, I just put my socks on, I hope that you’re going to get the hell out and meet me over by the bookstore on fourteenth street, I want to hear the whole story in juicy detail…and if you say no…I’ll just go to Bellite and make her teleport you to her and then drag you out myself so really, Juni…you have no choice in this!”
The gleeful note in Marquette’s voice was utterly unmistakable. “I want to hear about your boyfriend!”

"Don't let Thorn hear you say that. She'll get pissy."
"The only accident here is you thinking everything is going to lead to love for me. You're absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to the bookstore, but I'm telling you. There's literally no 'juicy details'. Like, really." Boy wasn't SHE about to be disappointed. "What the hell do you think Bell's gonna do? I'm going to tell her the same stuff I'm telling you! There's nothing there Marquette. Why won't you just take my word for this?"
What was it with girls and gossip.
"He's not my boyfriend. Nor am I his." Juniper replied flatly.
They were both vividly aware.

“Potato, tomato. Maybe you’re not dating now but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be in the future you know. Just because you’re scared that what? He won’t like you? That it won’t work well? I won’t take your word for this because this is the first anyone other than me that you’ve talked about, and I care about you and I’m interested in your happiness and I just want you to smile like, all the time. It’s definitely not a crime so, I’ll see you soon.”
She was pushing. Marquette knew that she was pushing but…Juniper was someone who needed pushing. It would do him good to know that someone was in his corner…and it would do him go to see her so she could push him some more.
All in the name of love of course.
Giving one last, slightly mad cackle, she hung up the phone and finished getting ready, working to think of more questions to ask about this boy. Who was totally not a boyfriend.

"Those are literally not the same thing." All this hassle over sending the wrong text... Juni was so already over this, in so many ways. "I never said I was scared. You did. The only thing's I'm scared of at the moment are dying, or bleeding out of my ears from this conversation. Besides, has it ever... I don't know, occured to you at the moment that maybe... Neither of us want to date each other? Or, who knows... Maybe he already HAS A BOYFRIEND?" Juniper snapped, temper rising. "I'm a quiet person Marq. I don't share things with people remember? That text wasn't meant for you. It wasn't your business. Are we over this yet?" In lieu of an answer, Juniper was met with a dial tone.
Cause of course she hung up on him mid conversation.
Juniper half debated turning around and going home. The other half of him debated just using his magic on her till he got bored.
