It was so strange and rather surreal how quickly a life could just change. In the blink of an eye seemed like such a hyperbole, but Faeth felt like such a thing had actually happened. It wasn’t anything big, but there had been a production of Annie on the television she had on in the background as she worked on one of her essays, and something about the music caught her attention.
Caught it and held it fast.
She ended up watching the whole production, and then spent some time browsing to see what other shows would be playing close by…
She hadn’t realized that she enjoyed the theater but…
Now that this can of worms was opened...
She wanted to share it with everyone that she knew. Emily wasn’t home, and it seemed like Juniper was busy, so she sent Reiko a text. ‘Hey! Meet me by the bakery! I want to talk to you about some stuff! Like…stuff I didn’t realized I liked!’
There. Cryptic, but not ominous. Perfect.
Bundling up, Faeth hurried out the door and towards the bakery, excited to share this newfound…old? Whatever. Eager to share this part of herself.

Reiko wasn't entirely sure what to make of Faeth's text, but she also wasn't going to ask too many questions. Having a Real Friend mattered to her so much more than trying to decipher a slightly weirdly phrased text when she'd just...get to ask Faeth what was up when they saw each other.
So she got to the bakery, and spotted Faeth, and waved, jogging up as soon as she saw her.
"Hey! How are you! What did you want to talk about?" She was a little breathless, maybe, from running all the way there, but that was totally fine, right?

“I’m good! Great, honestly. You know how I like…forgot everything when I…uh. Started my life over and…whatever? Did I tell you that part, If I didn’t, I didn’t start out in black, came here to be with my girlfriend blah blah, anyway!” Faeth reached out and took hold of Reiko’s hands, squeezing them gently. “Anyway, I remembered that I must have liked the theater or…well, there was a musical on the television and I watched it and it was just like…oh! s**t, this is epic!”
Drawing Reiko into the bakery, she ordered them each an éclair and got a croissant to share as well, just for the fun of it, and then sat in the corner seat to eat their treats. “Anyway, I think I want to go see a play, and just wanted to know if you wanted to come with me maybe? Just…for something new?”

Reiko blinked. There was a whole lot of information being dumped on her all at once, and she wasn't sure how she felt about one very big factor there--namely, the whole thing where....apparently, Faeth had chosen the Negaverse, and in the process, lost the person she used to be.
The thought made Reiko's stomach lurch a little, but she shoved it down. Better not to express that kind of feeling. Not when it didn't seem to bother Faeth very much. Probably she was reading too much into it, she did that a lot.
So she nodded along and let herself be led throguh the ordering process, and when they sat down, she leaned a cheek on her fist and hummed.
"That's really cool! I don't think I've ever actually like...seen a musical? Unless Disney movies count?" She took a thoughtful bite of her eclair. "And seeing it live msut be way different, so I'd totally love to come with you, that sounds really fun."

Faeth grinned, nodding eagerly. “I think so too! I was looking it up and there’s a few things coming to the city soon, like, next week there’s a performance of Chicago, how about we go to that one? Ah! You don’t even know how happy you’ve made me right now, seriously!”
Reaching over, she grabbed one of Reiko’s hands and squeezed it, her eyes bright and shining. “Like, I kind of want to go with a friend first, that way if I don’t like it, my girlfriend won’t think that I do and start trying to surprise me with things…like I just want to make sure before it becomes a part of my new…you know. Everything.”
Emily would be good about it she knew, but that was the issue…she wasn’t sure if it was a fleeting interest or something she actually wanted so…
“I’ll get the tickets if you say yes! Please? Please please!?”

Reiko nodded along, eagerly, at what Faeth was suggesting. She'd have ot google "Chicago" when she got home (or, probably, "Chicago musical," since....the city. Did exist. And that could be a problem. For finding what she wanted. Oh well.)
"Your girlfriend sounds...really enthusiastic," she said, though it was with a fond smile. Wow, wouldn't it be nice to have someone like that? Who was so eager about what you liked that you had to play a little coy about it? "So, yeah, I'm totally in, let's go see a musical."
It would be a good time, of that Reiko was sure. And if it turned out to not be something she was interested in, well, she tried a new thing and it didn't work. Not exactly the end of the world.
"And maybe I can meet your girlfriend sometime? If you think that would be okay? Maybe if you do like it, we could all go to see something together?"
Was that weird? Was she being weird? She was probably being weird.

“She is. She’s utterly perfect, and of course you can meet her, absolutely, I’m sure she’d like you a lot!” Emily doesn’t like many things, honestly.” Faeth paused and shook her head. “Doesn’t…not like many things…wait. No, She. She likes a lot, she’s very passionate. I’m sorry, these eclairs make me stupid, but I know you knew that already, so…yes! I would love to go with the two of you, that would be so much fun!”
She squeezed Reiko’s hand once again and gave a happy sigh, already daydreaming of how much fun it would be.
…Now if she only knew what Chicago was about, but…honestly? Maybe she’d just let herself be surprised!

Honestly, the way that Faeth talked about her girlfriend....it really made Reiko daydream a little. Someday, maybe, she'd get to have someone she could talk about like that, with so much excitement and happiness.
"She sounds great. You're both really lucky--like, you make her sound so fun, and you're so sweet, so she's lucky to have you, and. Yeah." She laughed, awkwardly, shrugging her shoulders.
Oh well. At least Faeth was probably used to her sounding like a moron at this point.
And anyway, they were gonna go see a play together. That was gonna be awesome.
