Quote: Prompt 4 (Flurries and Flowers):Strange snow flurries have been blowing through town, frosting entire buildings. Sometimes they come out of nowhere--overnight, or in the timespan of just a few short hours. Sometimes, only minutes. Snow falls rapidly and ice coats doors and windows, sealing them shut. These snow flurries are knocking out power, and worse--trapping people in buildings and cars. Sheets of frosty ice build up quickly and have caused major inconveniences. But, it’s not all bad, if you can find a way to appreciate the small things. After these flurries, in addition to the fresh snow and ice, beautiful flowers in the shape of snowflakes have sprouted up, too. They grow in small patches and permeate a pleasant, sweet fragrance. They can grow on any surface, as long as it is covered in snow or ice. If the flowers are not kept in freezing temperatures, they melt, but for the duration of their lifespan they are beautiful, fragile things. Nelson didn’t go to seek out new places to visit much anymore. His days of making reviews for things had dwindled…after all…there wasn’t much sense in finding a place to enjoy with a friend when…
…well, when you had no friends.
Today though…today he was checking out a small cafe that was near where he had met Dresda…in fact, he half wondered if it was the cafe that the corrupted senshi was offering to take him too, and there was a small part of him that wanted to contact the other male…even if only to have someone to talk to but…a nasty little voice kept telling him not to bother, that the moment he became friends with him, Dresda would just vanish too. It was the way of the world.
Rubbing the bridge of his nose, Nelson sighed and opened the door to the cafe, glancing around. It was small…and it was empty, save for a young male with pretty sherbet colored hair. The only worker that was present had a large bag of trash in her hand. “Oh! I’m so sorry, give me just a few minutes to take this out and I’ll be right with you!”
She smiled and Nelson nodded, walking up to the counter to see what was on the menu, and hummed to himself as the worker took the bag outside.
Of course.
Of course that was when it all went to hell. There was a sudden, sharp wind and the large windows of the cafe were suddenly obscured by ice, the door as well.
If…this was how it was in the back of the place too…it looked as though Nelson wouldn’t be getting something to drink after all…and now he was stuck.
He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose again, wishing he hadn’t bothered coming out. There was no panic, there was no fear. If anything, he could simply power up and teleport out of here…if he had to take this boy’s starseed he would but…
He didn’t want to. “...This city has so many flaws…” He glanced towards the young man and managed what passed for a smile. “...You’re okay…?”

Juniper had been out getting a few... incredibly late, last minute gifts. Mostly some things he needed to still get for Thorn, others were for friends... And admittedly, he'd gotten one or two things for himself. He'd stopped at the café to just take a break for a little while before heading back home. Juniper was engrossed in a book he'd gotten when the wind started up, and ice and snow coated the windows. The smaller man looked up, absolutely startled.
...Welp, so much for a relaxing break.
He blinked, when the taller man turned to him. "Hmm? Oh, yes. I'm fine... Just surprised, I suppose." He said, closing his book and moving it to the side. "I probably shouldn't be. This city is.. definitely something." Juniper sighed, dropping his chin in his hand as he glanced at the door for a moment before turning his attention back the other man. "...At least we were inside when that wind hit..." Another quick glance at the door, and Juniper resigned himself to his choices. "Welp... Since it looks like we might be here a while.. I'm Juniper. And I would really hate to be that employee later on."

Nelson grimaced and nodded. “...I hope that she’s all right. What an awful time to take out the trash…” He didn’t enjoy the thought of death. Didn’t enjoy the thought of suffering...and the fact that the worker could be stuck outside, frozen solid under a sheet of ice, almost made him feel dizzy…
Again, Nelson’s eyes flickered to the boy, and he had the thought once more of just powering up. Perhaps he could save the poor, most likely underpaid employee…but that would be at the cost of this boy’s life…after all, his identity couldn’t be compromised…but…
Maybe he could…try to recruit him? That…
Honestly, that seemed like an accident waiting to happen. He was unfit to actually have anyone under him…nobody would listen to a stuttering idiot anyway.
“I um…yeah. I’m glad that we were inside too…I hope that she’s all right…”
The cafe had chilled down quite a bit since the freak ice storm and Nelson drew his jacket closer around his chest. “...Do you um. Do you mind if I join you?”

"I'm surprised there is not more staff.." Juniper said, glancing towards the backroom. "I probably would have waited to take that out when the shop was closed but.." Juniper shrugged. "Given I was the only one in here at first, she probably thought she could get away with it." He couldn't cause that much chaos after all. Who would think a tiny, baby faced thing like him would even do anything.
"I hope so too... But I'm not about to venture and find out." He knew a bad idea when he saw it. At least they had heat.... For now anyway. Juni shook his head, gesturing to the empty seats at the table. "Please, by all means. I was just glancing over a book but company is always welcome."

Nelson gave a nod of agreement, but it was a small place…and obviously this wasn’t a very busy time of the day with just himself and this other boy here…but.
Taking a seat, he glanced down at the book that he was reading. “I’m…I’m Nelson. What is it that you’re reading there?”
There were pictures of rocks that he could see…and that was kind of neat. Strange, but neat.
Maybe he shouldn’t have given his name though…if he had kept this less friendly…maybe he would have actually had a chance to just take his starseed and get out of here? Now though? Now he had just started on the path to friendship…learning each others’ names was always the best way to start…and a big mistake in this case.
Most likely, at least.

"It's nice to meet you, Nelson." Juni glanced at the book before nudging it towards Nelson. "I was looking up some rocks and minerals." He admitted. "Or at least, trying to anyway. I'd heard some names... uh, from work, and was curious as to what I could find. But it's the same old rocks and stuff that everyone always talks about and covers." Maybe he should try the library... There was bound to be more stuff there right? Juniper gestured to the book. "You're free to look at it if you want. I have others... But I can't promise you'll find them entertaining..."
Was he rambling? He might be rambling.

Nelson paused and tilted his head slightly. “...What…um. What is it that you were looking for? What mineral names did you hear at…at work?”
Was this boy already a part of the Negaverse? Was that what this was? IF so, Nelson could simply power up and get them both out of here without worry…
“Do you have a favorite…?” He reached over and took the book, slowly flipping through the pages, but let his eyes flicker to Juniper every few seconds. “I think that…that um. Rocks and Minerals are pretty neat…Thank you for sharing your book with me…we could also look online if you’re not finding anything in here…m-maybe they have some stones that you might be interested in?”

Juniper waved a hand vaguely. "I don't know what I was looking for with looking up names... I guess I was just looking them up to look them up? I hadn't heard names like those before. I was curious I guess." Juniper didn't really realize just how many different kinds there were. Had it not been for the Negaverse, perhaps he would have never known.
"Uhm." Juniper flustered for a second, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear. "You're welcome. Not many people think this kinda stuff is neat." It was nice to have a convo with someone who did... Even if they were stuck in the building together. "The only down side to checking online is we don't know what's fact or not... Though I suppose we'd learn that the more we researched..." So maybe that was an option he could check out. "It would really help if all these crystal shops around here carried books on stuff like this but.." So far, he hadn't lucked out in that department either.
"But, as for favorites.. I like a lot of the ones that don't sound like minerals and end in the 'ite' that a lot do.. But...I recently heard the name Gismondine and was curious about it. Was kinda hoping I could learn more."

For a moment, Nelson froze and then swallowed, frowning slightly, his eyes lingering on Juniper for a moment. “...Um. Gismondine is pretty. It’s a crystal…it um. It’s an interesting crystal, lots of points, not really..a normal prism shape or anything…I um.”
He was going out on a limb here, but…but he had only spoken to one person in any kind of recent times and…if this was someone who could use a teleport out of here…
“I bet that…it would look really pretty at the bottom of a vase full of um. Ah. Spider lilies. I’ve always found those so pretty. I bet that the Gismondine would…reflect the colors well, but, I could be wrong…?”
About the Gismondine reflecting the colors or…the fact that perhaps this boy was the senshi who had looked so much like Xander but. He wasn’t going to clarify. If the question worked…it worked. If it didn’t…
Well. It was starting to get cold in here and…maybe he could just…try to knock him out…and not take his starseed…

"Crystals are pretty... With color or without color to them." Juniper mumbled. Which was true. He found all most minerals and rocks to be pretty, even if clear.
Juniper propped his chin on his hand, trying to picture it. "I'd never thought about that... Huh." He wondered if Gismondine could even handle being submerged in water... Juni knew that there were some crystals that couldn't be in water, less they start to deteriorate... But he hadn't heard anything like that about Gismondine yet. "No, I think you're right. Even with the limited colors that spider lilies come in. Or if you chose to just pick one color. I think it would look pretty all the same." He continued.
Juniper stared at the pages in Nelson's hands for another moment longer before something seemed to click. He sat up a little straighter, gaze flicking up to meet Nelson's. "I... uhm.." A blush crept across his cheeks.
Welp, this wasn't awkward at all.
"Yes." He said, answering the unasked question. "I.. I guess I got you to that cafe after all?"

Nelson gave a soft huff of a laugh, shaking his head and standing up, picking the book up with him and holding a hand out to Dresda. “It’s getting cold. I…don’t want to freeze. We can talk more at my apartment and I can…I can tease you about what a lousy cafe it was…nobody to wait on us and…I didn’t even…didn’t even get a drink…”
His eyes were a little guarded, but if this was a trick, he could just take Juniper’s starseed and be done with it…and so he powered up into General Gismondine and blew out a soft breath. “Come, Dresda. Let’s get out of here before we freeze.”
