Quote: Prompt 10 (Hostile Garlands) : Festive garland has been hung all around the city. Destiny City has never skimped on their decor, and this year is no different. What is different is the way some of the garland seems to slither around the poles and arches it's hung on. Maybe it looks like an optical illusion at first, or maybe it’s just so strange that it doesn’t seem like it can be real, but it doesn’t take long to figure out that that’s not any ordinary garland–it has eyes, and teeth, and it’s the strangest looking snake you’ve ever seen but that doesn’t really matter when it’s attacking you. It is fast, and aggressive, and it blends in perfectly. Sometimes it seems like it’s five feet long, sometimes twenty; it doesn’t seem to have any venom, but its fangs are long and if it wraps around you it can be very constricting. There’s no telling what it wants, but it sure does seem to like to fight. Note: The snake is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to count this for a battle. If you repeat the prompt with the same character, only one will count for a battle requirement. The snake will always disappear before it can be caught.
This was just stupid.
She had been careless...though what was there to be careful about on a night were the only thing to be seen was the sparkling of the holiday lights on the lamp posts? There had been nobody around that she could feel, and she had no reason to think that she’d need to be on guard. The garland had looked so soft...and it had always been a secret love of hers to touch garland in the stores…it always was soft and just…filled her with warmth.
This one had stared out as quite soft as per norm but…when it had started moving...perhaps Wavellite should have known then that it wasn’t going to be something normal…but she had assumed that it was just the wind…but.
But then the garland…snake? Thing? Was suddenly wrapped around her whole body and it was squeezing. Oh god it hurt...and honestly, Wavellite thought that this might be how she died.
Strangled to death and squeezed to death but a stupid Christmas Decoration. Xenia would never forgive her…she knew that.
If she could just move her arm…if she could move anything perhaps she could teleport and get out of this mess and then slice this stupid thing to ribbons…
And suddenly, there was the feeling of another chaos aura nearby, and Wavellite shouted. “Help! Don’t touch it, but please, help.”
It was a senshi, but she wasn’t corrupt…ah well. Black was black. Chaos was chaos.

Asuka ad sort of lazily been wandering the streets, hoping she might come across someone to drain but not actually putting any real effort into looking. Honestly, she was only sort of enthusiastic about doing her job as a Dark Mirror--she knew so few people in her Court, felt so little connection to it.
Maybe that was something she needed to work on fixing. Make herself care about the entity that was giving her all kinds of cool magical powers.
That would have to wait, though--because someone was calling for help. She sped up, darting around the corner to find some poor officer with a strange holiday garland wrapped around her. A small gasp passed her lips, and she brought her hands up to cover her mouth in shock
"But--I--" Her magic wasn't exactly offensive, but then...wasn't fear a primal emotion? The very core of the brain? All amygdala and primal instinct?
So...maybe...
"Onryo's Grudge!"
She focused on the creature, and not the Captain, and hoped that it was smart enough to be afraid.Quote: Asuka speaks the name of her attack, and is briefly surrounded by a thick, cold fog. The garland monster was not smart enough to feel fear. Not smart enough to feel much of anything, honestly…however…it was greedy.
Seeing the second snack of the night, the garland undulated and loosened its hold on Wavellite so that it could work to entrap this other girl. Of course, Wavellite took full advantage of this fact and yanked one of her arms free, letting out a satisfied grunt as she did so and summoning her sword to her hand, plunging it into the side of the garland.
“Don’t let it get you, it’s a real jerk!” There was no way that she was going to let this girl who had honestly saved her suffer any injury.
The snake like creature rattled softly, the sounds of the strange, almost feather like bits that hung off of it hissing. “It has fangs too, so maybe…don’t let it bite either, yeah?”
The smile she threw at the senshi was lopsided and just a little strained. Thankfully though, both arms were now free and she thrust the sword once again into the creature before teleporting out of its grasp and ending up beside her new ally. “You good?”

Okay, well. At least she'd distracted it. Asuka would take that as a win. She skipped back and away from the creature, hoping to get some distance so it couldn't grab her.
"Okay, gotcha! I wonder if maybe--" She'd seen this on Animal Planet, once upon a time, and also on TikTok--if you grabbed a snake right behind its head, it couldn't bite you. And it would have to unwind more to grab her, right? So she darted in, grabbing for about where she thoguht "behind the head" would be. Maybe that would give the Captain the chance to really go at it with that sword of hers--a way more useful tool than anything Asuka had on hand.

“No! Don’t get near it again, don’t be silly!” Wavellite felt a little exasperated and grabbed for the Senshi, utterly inelegantly, and pulled her away from the…from the whatever it was. She teleported the both of them to nearly clear on the other side of the city and shuddered, wobbling a little bit and catching hold of the back of a bench as she waited for her vision to clear. “I literally said don’t let it touch you, I mean, whatever you were doing kudos for bravery, but no need for you to get all tangled up when you don’t…need to get all tangled up, you know?”
Sinking down onto the bench, Wavellite reached up and rubbed at her face, shuddering. “s**t. Teleporting sucks when you do it too much. I’m…ah. I’m Wavellite. Captain Wavellite. You’re one of the mirror senshi, yeah? You don’t teleport if I remember right.”
…Though, that was doubtful. She was tired now. “...Hope I don’t see any more decorations this season,.”

Asuka yelped when the Captain grabbed onto her, and felt a rush of dizziness when they teleported away. She staggered a bit when they landed, and felt a moment of confusion--what had just happened? How had they gone from where they were to....somewhere totally differnet, with no garland snake at all?
"Sorry," she said, a little dazedly, "sorry, sorry, I thought--you grab snakes behind the head and they can't bite you, so I figured maybe it'd work like that? But it was a dumb idea and I'm very sorry, thank you for getting us out of there, Miss Captain."
Hopefully that would smooth things over enough. Nervously, she dusted off her skirts with her hands, cheeks flushed.
"Uh, anyway, hi, I'm Asuka, and no, we don't teleport--we can walk throguh mirrors, which is kind of neat? But not this efficient." She frowned, a little. "Are you okay, thoguh? That thing had you wrapped up pretty tightly, and teleportation can't be easy...." At least mirrorwalking was all on Mirrorspace, Asuka was pretty sure. Not that she knew or understood much--ugh, she'd have to figure out more later. Maybe when she could get into it on her own and do some more exploring.
But that was a matter for another time. For now, she had to worry about the Captain that had saved her.

“Eh, don’t be sorry, I might have been squeezed to death if not for you…just…don’t try to be fancy like that when you don’t even know what you’re fighting against, you know? Don’t put yourself at risk when you don’t have to.”
Wavellite gave a tired smile. “It was really nice to meet you, Asuka, I promise if we run into one another again I’ll be sure to return the favor if I can. I’m going to head home now..ah, sorry that I dragged you over here but…it’s closer to home for me…”
Reaching out, she patted the senshi’s shoulder. “It um. It’s not but….I’m going to sleep so that'll help. Have a good night and be safe…and thank you again!”
