Mother was a Tal-Vashoth who left Kont-aar in Rivain and settled with a Tal-Vashoth group in the Free Marches and had Hissera within the following year
Hissera grew up among the Tal-Vashoth, learning through them customs they’d decided to keep up the practice of as former followers of the Qun (i.e. war paint, fighting styles, and some philosophies).
Community of Tal-Vashoth grew into a function village of people that included other races in the Free Marches, became a known working mercenary group; took in many city elves from surrounding city-states.
During the Blight, Hissera was taken on a mission to escort Ferelden refugees from Kirkwall to another city-state. Group was ambushed and overtaken by slavers, Hissera was among those taken as a slave
She was broken and used as a guard/enforcer for the slavers to use against slaves in the trade for a few years
On a trip to Starkhaven to assess slaves to take from the Free Marches to Tevinter, Hissera killed all of the slavers and freed the slaves in the underbelly of Starkhaven
Returned home to find it still standing, but looking less like the flourishing community she saw a little over 5 years ago. Repeatedly raided by slavers and bandits, the community had started to falter and people were returning to the surrounding city-states.
Hissera’s mother was among those taken from the village by slavers
Hissera helped her people until their only real choice was relocation—people who were welcome returned to different city-states and the remaining Tal-Vashoth joined with those in and around Kirkwall from the Qunari inhabitance
She did not stay, instead beginning on her next goal in life: to find her mother, and killing any slaver who crosses her path in the process

Both parents had planned to leave Rivain and the Qun behind, however the leaders caught on and managed to re-educate Ashkaari--Tallis barely managed to escape unharmed, and has been hiding in the Free Marches with the Tal-Vashoth until she was captured.
