Quote: Little Helpers (11) : You’ve acquired all the ingredients to make your favorite holiday treat and you’re prepared for a busy day of baking tomorrow. When you go to bed, everything is neatly arranged so you can get started bright and early. When you wake, you smell the distinct aroma of baked goods–the ones you had planned on making. When you investigate, you find that someone had used your ingredients to create your holiday treat–perfectly. Did someone sneak in and make treats for you? Did you bake in your sleep? …Are those tiny little footprints in the flour? Tristan felt the aura nearby, and while she wasn’t sure she wanted to engage, she still figured that she had better at least go and see who it was, figure out if they were someone hostile or perhaps a friend…and she had some cookies to share…cookies that she was still trying to figure out.
She had been planning on making cookies but then when she woke up…they were already made…already made and Emily said that she hadn’t done it so…they were just mystery cookies…really, really tasty mystery cookies. The Tupperware container was already out of her subspace pocket and a cookie was hanging out of her mouth by the time she came into sight of the Senshi, though when she did her eyes lit up in pure joy.
…Possibly illegal joy but…this was one of her friends indeed.
“Dagon! Look at you! You’ve gotten stronger! You’re stunning!” Tristan ran over shoving the cookie completely into her mouth and chewing quickly so that she wouldn’t spray crumbs on the other senshi. “Can I offer you a cookie?”

It was bittersweet, seeing Tristan again. In some ways, Dagon couldn't help but wonder if she'd failed--if she had been moved too much by her grief and her loss and by Tristan's story of a beloved she wished to reach. If she should have worked harder to try to talk Tristan out of this.
But Tristan was her own person, and there was another lead weight on Dagon's heart of late.
Still, she made herself smile, politely and nod in acknowledgement.
"You seem to have gotten stronger as well. Congratulations," she said, though it tasted bitter on her tongue. She thought of Retzian, thought of her resemblance to Kalari.
Still, she nodded.
"I would love one. Your planet's food is so fascinating; what kind of cookies are these? I understand you can make them many different ways."

Tristan smiled and gave a little laugh. “...Well, you see that’s a funny story, and I don’t want you to think I’m crazy, but honestly, I’ve been wondering if I’m crazy. So, I was planning on making some chocolate chip cookies, which is what these are! And I had everything out that could be out, like the flour, sugar and stuff like that, and I was going to make them this morning…but when I got up they were already made and utterly perfect might I add. There weren’t even any dishes to do…I thought that maybe my girlfriend had done it as a surprise or something but she said she didn’t…so now I’m just…”
The grin turned a little sheepish and a little worried. “I’m wondering if maybe I was like…sleep baking? Or if someone broke into the apartment last night to make cookies…neither of which seems like a good option but. They’re really good, that’s for sure.”
Grimacing slightly now, Tristan shook her head. “Actually. Now that I say it out loud, it isn’t that much of a stretch that something or someone broke in to bake the cookies. Strange things happen in this city when it’s holiday time. Or…well. Any time, honestly.”

Dagon blinked. The story made her frown, slightly, and consider the possibility that there might be....weirdly benign supernatural things wandering around on this planet.
"I must admit, I don't think I've ever heard of anything quite like that," she said, "but this city does seem to be a nexus for magic. Perhaps that also includes benevolent secret cookie bakers." She shrugged her shoulders. Even with centuries of experience, there were things in the universe that were far beyond her.
"Is your girlfriend, ah--the one you told me you intended to join Chaos for?" If she was, at least that was one good thing. Tristan had found the one she wanted to be with.

Tristan nodded, her confused, moody expression clearing at the very mention of Gwen. “Oh, yeah! She is. We’re extremely happy and I…well. There were a few regrets here and there, mostly just about losing the friends that I had made like you and Starlight, but...I’ve found a really good path for me, and I’m truly enjoying who and what I’ve become.”
Thinking for a moment, Tristan brightened. “How’s your little electronic pet? Has it died yet? I swear, mine was dead within a week, but…after the third or forth one I’m doing pretty good. At a full month so far! I think though…real animals might be easier all things considered.”
She looked Dagon up and down and gave a pleased sigh. “You really look wonderful. Being stronger suits you, Dagon. I’m glad that we got to see one another again! And I hope that we can still be friends despite what sides of the fence that we’re on. I hold no grudges against you at all, and I…I’m pretty sure that I’m still the same me. Even if I am way more wary of seasonal activities…but if they can get me in my own damn apartment…guess there’s not much to do about it.”

Dagon blinked. The story made her frown, slightly, and consider the possibility that there might be....weirdly benign supernatural things wandering around on this planet. Perhaps it wasn't so strange; the very fact that so many Senshi and Knights were all congregated in one place was already quite unusual, and indicated that there might just be something special about this city. Something that might attract things other than simply magical individuals--or that might attract other kinds of magic.

Tristan hesitated for a moment, and then simply scoffed and closed the distance between herself and Dagon, knowing that it might be silly to initiate contact, but dammit…she wanted a hug. Dagon deserved a hug.
So she did, wrapping her arms around the Senshi and squeezing her gently. “I hope that you find love someday. I hope that you get to be happy too. You, of all people deserve it…and I know it’s not something you’d want to think about…but if it is the past that’s holding you back….you know that if you joined the Negaverse…we could not only be besties again for real this time…but you’d forget things that haunt you. It’s not ideal…but…it might help, if you’re still weighed down by sadness…”
The words were spoken softly, her chin tucked against Dagon’s shoulder. Maybe…if she were lucky…such ideas would take root…
Maybe, if she were lucky she would get to legally be friends with Dagon again someday.
