Quote: Prompt 6 (Frozen Time): Midnight is a magical time of night; parties, dancing, kisses--there are a number of rituals celebrated in the winter nights. Every night has a midnight, but this one is special. There is an old church and bell tower on the quiet outskirts of town, near a beautiful forest that has been decorated with lights to celebrate the season. Maybe you are alone, maybe you are with friends, or maybe you’re at a party celebrating one of the many events--whatever the case, small, delicate snowflakes have been falling lightly for the past hour. And then--suddenly--they stop. The clock strikes midnight and the bell echoes a low, metallic chime that feels like it can be heard for miles. By the second chime, you realize that nothing else is moving. Snowflakes are suspended in the air and all living creatures--plants, animals, and people alike--are completely frozen. The clock chimes twelve times and the world is still frozen. Suddenly, there’s no way to tell how much time has passed--but nothing moves. Maybe it feels like a moment, maybe it feels like an hour. You can try to leave the area but you can never go far enough that the church is out of sight. In an instant, time seems to snap back into motion. To everyone else, it feels like no time has passed. To you, you know. The church seems eerie and foreboding and if you return you feel uncomfortable, as though you have broken something and are unwelcome. If roleplaying with a partner, multiple characters can remain unfrozen as the world around them freezes! Another day, another patrol. Or, well, not so much day as night, really. It was dark and the snow fell softly from the sky, wet and clumpy in a way that made for good... snow... activities. Snowmen and snowball fights and that sort of thing. Hati almost wanted to sneakily make one and throw it at the back of Asmo's neck, but he wasn't going to be that much of an a*****e. The idea was certainly tempting, though. They needed to focus on their patrol though— Hold on. "Did you notice that?" he asked, tilting his head. The clock had chimed, nothing new, but... The snowflakes were stopped. In midair. He turned to Asmodeus, suddenly afraid that time had stopped her, too, but no, she was breathing. He sighed in a small amount of relief. "Everything's... stopped." Another chime rang out.

Winter wasn't exactly Asmodeus's favorite season, but there was something warm and fuzzy about patrolling in the snow with her boyfriend, bundled up in an extra coat and some gloves and generally feeling like a toasty little marshmallow.
For a snowy winter's night, it was a pretty one, and Asmo found herself admiring the scenery, watching the snow fall with interest and amusement.
The first chime of midnight from the nearby church bell made her pause, and take a deep breath, and close her eyes--
And when she opened them, it was to a world suspended in time.
"Oh, wow," she said, and she reached out to nudge a snowflake with the tip of her finger. "That's...new."
She'd seen a lot of amgic in her day, but this was...well. Pretty unique.

Hati got struck by the strangest impulse, and captured a snowflake in his mouth. "Hey. First time I've ever caught one with my tongue," he joked, feeling... not overly concerned. Judging by how these magical things usually worked, especially at midnight, maybe— BONG.With the second bong, he nodded. Yeah, sounded right. If the clock was still going... the twelfth bong should restore reality to normal. Standard midnight magic rules, at least in his experience. "It's kind of pretty like this, isn't it? Nice not to have to deal with anyone getting ready to attack any second, too."

Asmodeus laughed; it was much easier to experience this with someone else than it would have been to do it on her own. At least with Hati present, she wasn't the only one locked in a total void; and she could confirm that this was actually happening.
Briefly, there was a flicker of mischief in her eyes--it seemed like the BONGs from the church bells weren't coming as quickly as she might expect, as this one frozen instant stretched into a magically-lengthened eternity, and she blinked, owlishly and innocently, up at her boyfriend.
"You know," she said, "not that I'm in any rush, because you're right, this is nice, but....there's something else that always seems to end magic that happens at midnight."

"Yeah?" he asked teasingly as he inched closer, dipping his head. "What would that be?" Their lips were nearly touching now, and he wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her close and just... hold her. Here she was in his arms, safe and alive, and there was a very nice magic in the air tonight. He was too impatient for his own teasing, though, and finished closing the distance to kiss her softly, feeling even more breathtaken than usual.

Asmodeus grinned, as Hati pulled her in close. "Oh," she said, lightly, "I think you know very well."
He made her feel safe. There was nothing else to it, really--gathered in his arms, in this magical, frozen eternity-in-a-moment, Asmodeus felt safer than she could ever remember feeling.
She had spent a long time relying on herself and only herself. Trusting no one else to help her. Both before and after her purification, her life had been sort of...lonely. Self-reliant, sure, and strong, but lonely.
And now she had Hati, and Skoll, and she knew that she could place her life in their hands and trust that it would be well protected.
When Hati's lips met hers, Asmodeus melted, bringing her hands up to cup the sides of his face and leaning into the kiss.
BONG.
She could have held that moment forever, as long as they ha,d whatever this magic would give them.
It felt....perfect.

Hati loved the feeling of her hands on his face and his arms tightened around her, just a bit. This moment... Was everything. It felt so romantic, and he felt a bit silly for thinking so—or rather, felt that he should feel silly, but couldn't quite bring himself to care. It was magical, and it was theirs to have. He loved it. Of course, all good things come to an end, and the twelfth BONG had to happen eventually. When it did, sounds rushed back in, and he realized that everything truly had stopped for a moment. The snowflakes started falling again... And there was a bonechilling feeling that neither of them should be there, when they broke apart and he glanced at the church that the BONGs had come from. "Do you feel that, too?" he asked in a whisper.

Asmodeus absolutely did not want to leave that kiss. It was a fire that lit her up from the inside out, and it made her heart race and her foot pop, like this was some kind of silly romance movie.
And whent hey finally broke apart, when sound returned to the world and she felt the snowflakes falling on her face again, she sighed, softly.
"We should go. I think whatever is here is a little offended by us making out right in front of its metaphysical salad."

Hati hadn't wanted to leave the kiss, either, but the foreboding feeling was still there, so alas. "Really? In front of its salad?" he asked, clearly trying not to laugh. "Okay, okay. Let's go." Taking her hand again, he led them both away to finish patrol.
