About Pandora as possible NPC:
What do you need? Because I have two ideas that I'm happy to put her as either. It's up to you and what role you need filled more.
1. Traveling Salesman aka: Pandora doing the same stuff she did back in Kodo's Evolve game. Pandora runs around selling things out of her enchanted box (haha pandora's box. that's the whole character inspo. that's it. im super creative). (There's backstory for all of this that I'm sure I've shared before and am open to sharing whenever. It opens up the possibility of like three additional characters.) She mostly sells items that you would find at a blacksmith. They usually have weird enchantments on them. Sometimes she opens up the box and there's just a straight up blessing or curse spell that comes out. Could effect us, could effect our stuff. Again, can provide examples from the Evolve game.
option 2. Professor of Swordsmanship I sort of envision this as her selling lessons for spoons. The lessons can temporarily boost (or permanently. based on game balancing) Strength stats. Think of Pandora's fighting style as akin to a Barbarian. Very rough and tumble. You'd get beat up and be sore the next day, but you'd get the gains from it. In this option, I could also offer up Zibal (her giant wolf companion she rides around on in option 1) as a professor of a blacksmith class. (because i think taking a blacksmith class from a big wolf would be hilarious. but is also feasible to his story. again, can go over if you want but if you'd rather no spoilers you can just trust me on this lmao.) His class could be a paid for class where we could learn to make basic metal based items. Like a dagger, or a ring, idk I'd have to start learning blacksmithing tech to know what is realistic for him to offer.
OR EXTRA BONUS OPTION 3. Traveling Professor (field work) with a Secret Shop aka Kodo's suggestion aka por que no los dos? A bit of a two for one, Pandora could offer training as a random encounter rather than a permanently accessible NPC. (in option 2 she could also only offer classes on certain days of the week? idk so many options.) Then as you get to know her better, she could offer to sell you some of her box items. idk.
Really in any of these options I could pull out the bonus characters if needed. (one of them is Zibal. just to keep that transparent).
Basically this is a "let me know what roles you need filled and I can help make some NPCs" post. Because I think you should be able to interact with characters you don't control, too. c:

On the topic of NPC backstories, I put Artherien as a wandering sellsword and Kemryn as a professor. Both are post-Heraghine saga-ish, after having already done the adventures from the books. Hence his never settling, and her already being "patient and perseverant".
Kemryn's classes include the ability to learn basic rune or ward spells which will prevent an item's or enemy's unwanted modifier (spell success would be based on your wisdom throws), so long as you have a spell slot.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT IDEA!!
I love the idea of ability and spell "slots". Two special abilities we can activate per day (or week, depending on how we play). Starting with one physical, one magic (but we can earn more permanent slots later). Starting the game we have no special abilities, but the more we talk to professors and adventure, we can learn them.
I also want to make a merchant, but I want to talk to Koda more about how the gameplay will look, and how items may be implemented.

What are we considering "spoons" exactly?
Are they mental levels? What our character can put up with per day? Or use spoons to use abilities (1 spoon = 1 ability used)?
Or are they energy levels- do they determine how many encounters our characters get? (like 1 spoon = 1 encounter)?
Or are they currency to purchase items/spells/abilities?

About Pandora as an NPCI've put her down as the One Handed professor, but I like the idea that she's got a side hustle in "eclectic" enchanted items. One of those things that's not strictly kosher with the school policies so you've got to unlock it. Ability and spell "slots"; Special AbilitiesYes. What are we considering "spoons" exactly?I'm thinking spoons work like energy. Think a distant relative to the kind used in apps. But the "micro-transactions" are smaller chores/goals/deadlines. And you can absolutely earn it through regular play/patience, but the "micro-transactions" are just "Real World Currency" to get a quick energy boost. Spoon earning is what I'm having a more difficult time figuring out. Currency will be separate.

This encounter can be a class taken, having a convo with an NPC, or a trip to a store, or wandering into the wilderness.
I dont know what you mean by micro transactions and RWC in this regard ._. (sorry)

I've posted skills up in Chima's character thread, but just post here with any ideas or wants for skills. On that topic, skills use star level like mental statuses do? I'm not sure how to handle them so please pitch in if you've got an idea. Also: I will probably be up ~3pm Akii time, so in the meantime here's what I will suspect at the moment you will need for you character profiles in-game so you guys aren't stuck waiting. ★ A place to keep track of skills ★ A spoon count with a maximum limit. 30 is the placeholder I am using. ★ A Doubloon count. (wallet) Just pop in that you've got 200 for now. ★ A basic inventory of 5 things your character brought with them to school. These items will count as your personal "key items". They can be anything. ★ A separate from tasks journal post. This will be for you to write down key moments or reminders for yourselves and your character. Maybe include your character's opinion on NPCs, etc. As well this is where I would like you to keep track of your active quests. The only required part is a separate place for quests. Spoiler Central has a post that will give you an idea of the types of quests if you want to organize the post instead of just popping in a res. ★ Please give some thought and suggestions as to how we should open the game.

I say we start getting in the habit now of completing our irl tasks, even making note of things we do accomplish so we can be in the habit already.
How we start, maybe a short rp post saying that our characters meet up at the university with Al'teesh who sits us down and explains the rules about wandering the forest, what costs spoons and how to keep track of spoons, and whatnot- just to put what we already know in very basic, in-one-place, verbiage. Each of our characters receive a student ID to go into our wallets, along with a bag of holding. Each character receives 200 DBS, and are told we have to report to at least two classes every day (or the like, I'm sure you'll get some ideas for it).
My questions are, will we all be available to report in every day? Do the days in-game line up with irl days? Is one week irl equal to one day in-game? Is there a clock?
Next is, I suggest we should keep our rp posts short, and our interactions short. Even if it's just a couple of words. No need to go too hard.

Game opening could be us showing up for orientation.
I'd rather not have the "we have to report for two classes a day" thing, because I don't want to lock anything into a requirement.

Koda Crest Here we brainstorm and suggest NPC's, quests, items, etc. Post anything. Go wild. ↪Came across an item that needs attunement. We've already assumed we have 3 slots for attuning/attuned items.
How do we attune?
"Staff of Wizardkind" (Staff, requires attunement by a non-wizard): While holding this arcane staff, you gain the following benefits: Your Intelligence score increases by 2, to a maximum of 20. You have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to interact with wizards. You can use a spoon to expend 1 of its charges to cast the cantrip Mage Hand. The staff has 10 charges, and regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. In addition, while attuned to the staff, you have a 50 percent chance each day at dawn of growing a white beard, or a visibly whiter beard if you already have one.
