It was cold.

Fulgurite had never been particularly fond of the change of seasons, though he supposed the general chill in the air matched with the general chill in his emotions. It was why he embraced his eternal senshi form, in any case; he had long since discovered the cold didn't seem to hit him as hard with this false skin on, and he guessed he'd take advantage in what few positives it offered while he patrolled.

Faustite had said they needed to double their quotas. More energy, more starseeds, more everything. He still didn't quite know why; wasn't sure he actually cared. It was going to be some s**t, at least, and while he refused to take starseeds, some basic energy skimming might ease Albite's load and maybe make him more inclined to keep doing the whole rest of the bullshit for him.

When he saw a civilian, he scraped the very slightest bit off the top. Maybe they'd just go get some coffee.

When he felt a basic White Moon aura, he groaned.

Maybe if he took a wider route, they would just stay away.

Well, s**t. The aura wasn't just turning tail and leaving.

That would have been his preference.

It was the aura of a basic, at least. If they tried to start anything, maybe he could just skim enough energy off the top to at least drive them away or get them to just go to sleep. Fulgurite didn't care much about what happened to them afterward, he just wanted to be left alone and get through this ramped-up collection period in peace--

Instead of continuing to dodge the aura, in the interest of doing that, Fulgurite stayed put, crossing his arms and leaning against the brick of a nearby building. He'd wait.

Wait until he saw... was that animal ears and a tail?

Fulgurite straightened his back and let his arms fall to his sides as he looked at the approaching basic senshi just a bit closer. Was that just part of his costume? Did he take the whole animal sphere thing to a greater extreme than Raksha had?

"Does it look like I'm harming anyone?"

Fulgurite wasn't about to say he had just drained someone before he sensed this wolven senshi. Currently, though? He was just standing there, tracking an aura that belonged to one of those Order senshi--the ones who had been lucky enough not to be awakened by force. And the owner of that aura had now decided it was time for a ******** conversation--

Whatever. Perhaps he could figure out something interesting about McWolf there. For one, the fact that he seemed to be a wolf. Were those attached to his outfit, or would they pop right off if he yanked? If they were attached, had some of the things about senshi being aliens actually ring true? Fulgurite had long concluded that was just Negaverse propaganda, but he couldn't leave anyway, so he didn't really care about the fake information he heard. Not like it made any difference--

"What, do you plan on harming me?" Fulgurite sounded dry. "Wouldn't really recommend trying that."

He didn't really want to fight anyone, but if this basic tried to harm him, he'd knock this guy on his a**--

"You want to follow me."

For ******** sake. Better than being attacked, he guessed. Reminiscent of that one Neptune knight in some ways, considering she was willing to do whatever it took to stop him from hurting people. Also reminded him of Nectaris, in a way, but he was pretty sure she'd just knock him over the head with that moon staff if it was absolutely necessary.

He guessed he wasn't getting any more energy tonight unless he wanted to enclose this wolfman in some bitter-cold water. And part of him wanted to. Part of him wanted to just to get this guy to leave him alone. A basic would provide more energy than a civilian, anyway. Maybe he could get this ridiculous team assignment over a bit faster.

Fulgurite could almost feel Nectaris scolding him.

"I didn't," replied Fulgurite, tone still wry and exasperated, "just trying to get places faster and without being freezing. But fine. If you wanna follow me, follow me."

He pushed himself off the wall, heading back toward the streets to determine where he wanted to go that might cause the wolfman senshi to leave him be.

So the wolfboy was waiting for the snow.

Alright. Suit himself. Fulgurite wasn't built for this s**t, personally, and he was fairly sure by looking at the outfit Metallia had given him, which was probably influenced by what he would have gotten to wear if he hadn't been forced into chaotic senshidom, he never had been. Give him a sweltering summer day any day in comparison to whatever this was.

Did this guy not know about teleportation? Fulgurite assumed that was common knowledge, and quirked a brow, but rolled his eyes after. Whatever. Common knowledge enough that he had no problem telling about it even to an unknown. "Yeah. Can teleport." In fact, where he had thought it was easy before--an elongated time in the Negaverse had also given him time to practice--it had gotten even easier since he had don the wings that made him into Sailor Crobat. "But not every place I go to is a place I want to teleport to."

Home. He didn't want to ever teleport to home. When he was finished with his energy withdrawal, like he apparently was now, he was going to go home.

Dad didn't need to be exposed to this, even by accident.

He'd probably have to teleport somewhere random to lose his wolf-senshi tail though. Great. More time in this cold.

"Don't you have something better to do, wolf?"

Alright, so he wasn't a wolfboy but a foxboy. Sure. Definitely proved the whole alien thing if he was so confident in saying that and following it up with wording that made it sound like he had last heard colloquial English over a hundred years ago.

He snorted anyway. Neither definition was really wrong...

Why did he serve chaos?

Perhaps he should have had a better answer prepared. To protect the Earth (by mining it). To defend it from alien invaders (that they apparently worked with now). To provide a family (by breaking apart the family of countless others with a forced removal of memory). To let their world thrive (full of monsters, both literal and figurative). Really, it went on. So many good reasons. So many things that may have sounded convincing, even.

"Never had the choice," but honesty was easier. He didn't care enough to offer anything otherwise. "Some of us awaken as chaos senshi, you know."

He had due to unwanted assistance from their at the time General-Queen Laurelite and deceased General Bischofite, but.

"Also, might wanna not use queer in that context. Mostly means you're not straight these days."

Fulgurite guffawed at the concept of there being a choice in anything with regards to the Negaverse. What was his alternative when cornered by Bischofite, of all people? Die?

Probably, though he had a feeling he would have more fun tormenting Orah.

If he wasn't dead.

"If you're a foxboy from space," noted Fulgurite, wryly, "definitely doubt English would be your first language, of all things." The fact that this guy had as decent of a grip on English as he did was honestly the most shocking part of their whole meeting, considering. Fulgurite wasn't unconvinced that these White Moon Aliens had some kind of magic assist--

Oh.

Would he?

In a heartbeat. But was he okay to let this random senshi know that, or was he asking to somehow be overheard or found out through the grapevine and murdered for his treachery before even being truly treacherous in action?

Though, there was ... one thing he could probably say with minimum risk. "If I could choose," Fulgurite snorted, "I'd probably just ask to be left alone." How much easier would life be if he didn't have to worry for himself, for his family, for those he knew-- He could just go back to his floral arrangements. He could just go back to his fanfiction. He could just go back to being a normal person in their mid-20s.

Better not to fantasize about the impossible.
