Gilbert hummed to himself as he walked home in the wee hours of the morning, having finished his literal graveyard shift for the day. He felt oddly good, despite the weird things that had happened throughout October. He knew there had to be magical things going on that he just... wasn't allowed to truly perceive for one reason or another, like.... The Mist from Percy Jackson, or something. He wondered if he could ever get the chance to peek behind it. Then, as if the universe was answering him, one of the strangely dressed people appeared before him, and he jolted, blinking. "Ah... hello."

Bellite hadn’t been planning to add anyone else to her little group, three was enough of a handful, and with Wavellite and Xenia together…that was a handful and a half. Those two honestly wanted to flirt more than they wanted to grow as agents or…or people, so…maybe it would be good to give them a little competition.
Summoning her ax, Bellite gave a bright smile, looking the young male over for a moment before she nodded. “Hello yourself. This is a late…or early hour I suppose. What are you doing out alone? Don’t you know that it’s dangerous to just walk around the city in the dark?”
Didn’t he at least have a car? Poor thing.
“There are some pretty unsatisfactory folks that run around, you know. And sometimes.” The General scoffed, shaking her head. “Sometimes the city itself is unsatisfactory and enjoys giving the people who live here the run around. Have you thought about that? About your safety?”

"Night shift work," he answered easily—as if he was completely unbothered. And, honestly, he mostly wasn't. Sure, she was swinging an ax about, but something about the way she approached him felt... more curious, rather than murderous. "I could think about my safety, but then I'd just get annoyed," he continued, shrugging. "It's so difficult to deal with, especially when you work the night shift anyway. What am I going to do? Pepper spray one of the people like you?" He snorted. "Considering what you lot are accused of, I doubt it would do much. And have you considered that maybe meeting one of you is exactly what I wanted? Maybe you fell into my trap, instead. Just because someone looks helpless doesn't mean they are, after all." The thought wasn't true, of course, but he would sling it back to her. If people were going to swagger around arrogantly claiming that they had the upper hand like this, he would at least make them think a little. Even if he was totally bluffing his a** off.

Bellite paused and then began to smile, enjoying the way that this conversation was going. It wasn’t often that she was in a position where she seemed to almost be with someone who was asking to be recruited. Interesting. “So, you think that I’ve fallen into your trap? Pray tell, what kind of a trap is it? Are you going to reveal that you’re actually on the other side of this conflict and bring me to my knees, begging for you to spare me?”
Her smile grew just a little sharper and she took a half step towards the male, rolling her shoulders slightly and twisting her wrist until it cracked. “Or…are you implying that you’d like to become one of…’my lot’, if that’s the case, I can happily oblige, it would take care of your safely too, which was kind of the angle I was going for anyway.”

Oh, okay, yeah, no, she was actually pretty darn scary. He took in a slow, measured breath, trying not to visibly freak out so much. Okay, okay. He could totally handle this, right? He shrugged. "Mm, I guess you could tell I was bluffing, huh? It was worth a shot, y'know, for fun!" he said with a bright grin. "....So, if you're considering to actually make me one of you, um. Yes, please, actually?" His grin turned sheepish and he scratched the side of his nose. "You guys are kind of like... insanely cool, actually."

Bellite couldn’t stop the almost fond smile from crossing her face. He was polite at any rate, and honestly, that counted for more than she could really say. “I’m going to warn you, there will be pain, but it won’t last long. Through the pain comes power, not so much at first, but as you learn to handle what you have, you’ll be granted more. You’ll have a weapon to start, but it won’t be…”
Grimacing slightly, Bellite shrugged. “It won’t be anything useful. I had a bell when I first started, so of course I was highly intimidating…” She couldn’t stop a small chuckle and reached her hand out, resting it lightly against the male’s chest. “You’ll have enhanced strength though. Special senses, and again…as you grow stronger, your abilities will as well. You’ll be able to teleport after your first promotion, though it will drain you of all of your strength at first…it’s pretty cool.”
Her eyes met his and Bellite gave a small nod. “Last chance to change your mind. As I said, this will hurt.”

So starting out he'd be pretty weak. Okay, yeah. Sounded like standard "gaining magical powers" stuff. He smiled and held out his hand. "Sounds good to me," he said. "Let's do it." The pain that rippled through his body was, indeed, agonizing. But as long as it felt, it really wasn't too long, as the magic seeped into his body, changed him bit by bit. It left him gasping for breath, sweating just a bit, but mostly... He felt powerful. "Holy s**t," he breathed, shocked. "Whoa."

Bellite grinned, looking pleased at his reaction. She was tired, but it was obviously worth it to see the new Lieutenant looking so…
Eager. “Lieutenant Vesuvianite. Welcome to the team.” Letting out a long breath, the General reached into her subspace pocket and drew out a two pack of oatmeal raisin cookies. She took one for herself and held the other to the new Lieutenant. “What questions do you have? I'm going to assume a lot, but I could be wrong. I’m excited to see what you bring to our organization.”
The cookie tasted wonderful, even if the flavor wasn’t what she normally enjoyed.
Corruptions were draining...but worth it.
