It was early enough in the day that the beach wasn't filled with visitors, but it was also the height of the summer season and hot enough already that Indra and Breana were hardly the only ones out by the water.
They'd walked from the cabin, maybe half a mile with Indra carrying the cooler on one arm and two cloth folding chairs strapped over his shoulder. If they'd taken his car, they would've circled around the edge of the reservoir to the designated parking area directly in front of the sand. But they'd walked in from the woods, so as they neared the water, the trees dispersed to a sheer thirty-foot drop down a cliffside to the water below.
"What are you thinking?" He invited, peering out over the water toward the beach where people were setting up for the day. Regardless of how far away it appeared, it was still probably only a five to ten minute walk down the sloping path from the cliffs to the beachside.
"Do you want to head down? If you want to relax and are not opposed to neighbors," and the potential of being harassed by strangers. "We can keep going down to the sand." They could get in and out of the water at their own leisure, play volleyball, stroll along the beach with waves licking at their feet. "Or if you prefer, we could stay here. I do not guarantee privacy, as I expect the teenagers will want to come jump from the rocks, but it will be quieter for longer."
It also gave them distance between themselves and the rest of the civilians, just in case. But it did rob them of easy access to the water, if Breana didn't want to climb up the cliffside any time she wanted to sit. But it was also closer to his cabin. When they were tired, it would be a shorter walk home.
Indra had no particular preference. He didn't often go to the beach so it was all out of his norm, already.
