Quote: Space 5:A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds. Honestly, "don't pick up strange objects" was probably lesson number one of Existing In Destiny City. But Asmodeus was pretty bad at learning lessons, so...perhaps not surprising that she'd failed to learn that one. Besides, she was a certified dice goblin, and seeing a mysterious die laying on the ground? She absolutely had to pick it up.
But of course it led to magical shenanigans.
She felt herself get lifted up and thrown, and she stumbled when she landed on the other side.
And then there was a snarl.
Dogs didn't scare her. Not with Hati and Skoll as her partners. But these weren't Hati or Skoll's magic dogs. This was something else, and she didn't like it/ Something that might actually maul her, if it got its paws and its teeth on her--
She swallowed, tensely. This was a game, wasn't it? A board game, and she had a die, and--
She threw it, and booked it for the next square as soon as she saw the numbers on it.

Quote: Space 7:Something is twitching and flapping above you, and while you might be minding your own business, something is a little too invested in what you’re doing. You can’t see them, but you suddenly hear shrill, high pierced noises that are disorienting and confusing. They can bring about dizziness and pain and can cause vertigo if you’re stuck in them for too long. The strange, slavering dog-thing was left behind, and Asmodeus stumbled onto her next square, letting out a shuddery breath. It gave her a moment to pause and breathe, and glare at the glass walls that surrounded her.
Fine, the rules were pretty obvious here. Roll your dice. Go forward. Win and escape. That, she could do.
She took a moment, but...it felt like she was being watched, and she looked up and around, frowning heavily.
And then there was the noise.
Asmodeus yelped at the high-pitched, shrill sounds that suddenly filled the area, and she threw the die as hard as she could, running forward to get away. It seemed like whatever was on a square wouldn't follow her past it, so it was time to go.

Quote: Space 8:Something slithers across your foot, so fast that you might have thought you imagined it. Except, a few seconds later, it happens again. And then, again. Snakes keep moving across your space. If you move, they see you–and they might bite. Some of them hiss, some are capable of spraying a poisonous liquid that can cause itchiness or burning. Asmodeus hated this place. It was awful, and she did not want to be here, and now there were ******** snakes. As if this didn't suck enough already. <******** this," Asmodeus hissed, and she very carefully picked her way through the snakes, hoping that perhaps they wouldn't attack if she didn't step on them.
She was not so lucky. As she roleld the dice to get her next number, fangs sank into her ankle, and she cried out in pain, staggering forward and over the line.
At least it just burned and itched. It could be worse, she thought to herself. Real snakes did plenty worse than that.

Quote: Space 10:A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand. Asmodeus dragged herself over the line and into the next square, and felt her foot sink in, and swore.
"Are you actually ******** kidding me," she said, and she stumbled forward again, feeling the quicksand pull her deeper. "This is the world's worst ******** dungeon, and whoever designed it can go right the ******** to hell!"
She threw the dice again, pulled herself forward, and staggered, and prayed that she scrambled her way out of this shitty quicksand in time.

Quote: Space 12:The smell of smoke is in the air. You can’t see what’s burning, but you can hear distant screams, and–carnival music? It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here. Fire. Of course there was fire. Asmodeus felt a moment of relief that she wasn't really afraid of it, and that people she couldn't see scremaing and running wasn't going to make her freak out. Not now. Not when her ankle throbbed, and she could still feel that clinging much, and--and she had no idea how close she was to the end.
She inhaled. Choked on magical smoke. Threw the damn dice. Kept staggering onward, hoping that she got out soon.

Quote: Space 17:Something howls in the distance. It’s loud and echoes with such ferocity it seems to shake you. On the other side of you–another howl. Closer. This one is loud enough to hurt your ears. The ground trembles with the force of something charging at you. A growl, a snarl. Yellow eyes staring you down. There’s not just one monster out there–there’s several, and they’re all coming for you. As she stumbled onto the next square, Asmodeus took a moment to sink to her knees and catch her breath.
She didn't have long to rest.
Howling echoed around her, and something inside her broke. She started laughing, helplessly, and buried her face in her hands, shaking her head.
"Is this a goddamn joke?" She shouted, to whatever nothing was out there. "A funny little haha game, all personalized for me, with the fire and the wolves and all of it? You are the world's most sadistic DM, you know that?"
As if there was actually some entity running this. She had no idea, obviously.
But the end was in sight, she swore.
And so she rolled the dice, one last time.

Quote: Space 20:The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. Finally. It was over. Asmodeus staggered onto the final tile, exhausted and feeling like she had been battered around to the point of total collapse.
She felt a soft, warm light surround her, and she closed her eyes, and when she opened them, she was back in Destiny City.
...Ugh, forget this. She was going to her planet, to see what it was like now that she'd been a couple of times and given it a chance to grow.
