Quote: Space 6:You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll. Xenia probably should not be picking up strange items, off the ground, but....well, her fingers itched, and also she wanted to.
So she did, picking up the little cube that she'd spotted at her feet, and she frowned for a moment.
A die? How strange. It didn't look like the kind she was used to, no dots--all actual numbers, and so...shiny...
She was distracted turning ti over--the sudden powerful whoosh and enclosing darkness took her entirely by surprise, and left her off balance and looking around in confusion.
"where--"
There was a horrific, shrill noise, and Xenia clapped her hands over her ears, die falling from her fingers and rolling. It clattered to a stop, and she lifted her head, looking towards it, and inhaled.
Razor wire. All around her.
She swallowed, and began to carefully pick her way throguh. There was a path forward, after all; if she just...followed it, with her pretty little magical die, she would get out of here and back to Destiny City.
And then she was going to bury her face in Wavellite's boobs and not move for however long her girlfriend let her stay there.

Quote: Space 8:Something slithers across your foot, so fast that you might have thought you imagined it. Except, a few seconds later, it happens again. And then, again. Snakes keep moving across your space. If you move, they see you–and they might bite. Some of them hiss, some are capable of spraying a poisonous liquid that can cause itchiness or burning. Xenia carefully picked her way to the next platform--two forward, and she stopped, and looked around. It seemed safe so far, and for a moment,t here was nothing--and then a strange pressure over her boot. She frowned, and looked down, and--oh!!!
"Hello, little friends," she said, cheerily. "How cute! I'm sorry, I'm just gonna gave to--" Very delicately, she lifted up her foot, carefully stepping in between the writing bodies. "'Scuse me, pardon, oh goodness."
The snakes seemed startled, sure, and they hissed and spit at her, but the itching and burning wasn't all that bad, really--and they were probably just scared, the poor darlings!
She tossed her die, and let it roll, and stumbled away, hissing as one last spit connected with her leg.

Quote: Space 12:The smell of smoke is in the air. You can’t see what’s burning, but you can hear distant screams, and–carnival music? It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here. Xenia stumbled onto the next square, and whined quietly. Okay, so maybe she had brushed off the snakes too easily--she was really starting to hurt, and when she inhaled, the smoke she breathed in made her double over coughing.
"This really isn't fun anymore!" She shouted, as if the sky could hear her--but of course, there was nothing to listen.
She threw the dice again, ignoring the sounds of screams and carnival music. It didn't matter. This wasn't real. She just had to get out and go home.

Quote: Space 14:The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon. Xenia took the next part of the path slowly and cautiously, again, stepping her two careful squares forward. It was slow going, it seemed, and she had no idea how long this was--six squares to the end? Seven? How lucky did she have to be to get to go home?
The ground gave under her boot, and she yelped, trying to pull it back, but it was stuck. And there was skittering.
Oh, Xenia hated spiders so much-- The ones in the Rift hadn't been so bad, because they were youma and totally under the control of the officers around them, but these weren't youma, and there were no officers to save her.
She threw her die. Scrambled forward, tearing the web beneath her. she had to get out, she had to get out, out, out--!!

Quote: Space 19:You’re so close! Almost at the end! But the space you’re standing on shifts and shakes and seems to crumble beneath you. You have to hold on; there’s nowhere to fall but down into the deep abyss. If you manage to hang on for long enough, you find some invisible purchase and can pull yourself back up, but it’s quite the ordeal. Make sure you don’t get cut on falling spaces! The ground restores itself once you roll again. She could see the end. So close, and yet so far--one more roll between her and it.
And this last one seemed determined to yeet her into the abyss.
Xenia felt the platform crumble out from under her, and gaped, flailing to get a grip on the edge. She hurled her die, heard it clatter, and managed to pull herself up as it landed.
Just one more to go.

Quote: Space 20:The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. Xenia let out a relieve breath as she stepped onto the last platform.
It was time, she thought, to go home. Opalescent light surrounded her, and she opened her eyes to find herself back on the street.
The die was still in her hand, and she smiled and tucked it into subspace. That had been a little weird, but hey, here she was.
