Space 3
A strange fog rolls in once you land here. You lose sight of nearly everything, including the game board. If you want to roll, you’re going to have to get close to the ground to even see where you’re supposed to go next. Hopefully nothing sneaks up behind you.

Feldspar would swear that the worst sorts of things always happened to him, specifically. His whole Negaverse career had been fraught with complication from the start, and that didn't seem like it was bound to change anytime soon. Particularly given that he was out here with Weissite, standing at the start of a glowing board game. A 'routine patrol' gone wrong. Big ******** surprise. That's what happened when you touched 'unusual' stuff in Destiny City.

With a resigned sigh, he took a particularly long drag on the cigarette that had been doing an adequate job of keeping him relatively relaxed through the patrol. Then released the breath in a plume of smoke and tossed the remainder to the ground, to be snuffed out under his boot.

"Better to get on with it, I guess," he grumbled out at Weissite. "Not like we'll be leaving til the game's done with us, or whatever."

That was usually how it worked. ...Though there was often a fair bit of running or fighting involved, as well. Not things Feldspar particularly excelled at, despite his now-year-and-a-half with the Negaverse. Weissite and Rakovanite helped him 'train' when they could, but like, they weren't fixing his stupid leg no matter how hard he worked.

For now, he could roll his stupid die and plod through the spaces at his own pace. In theory, the game could be pretty lighthearted- or actually dangerous- with no way to know until they'd begun, so... time to know, he supposed.

When he came to a stop, his space was just- filled with fog? It didn't cause him any dread or panic. He didn't hear anything that seemed malevolent, but he still called out a tentative, "Weissite?" Just to make sure he was still on the board. It was so dense he couldn't even see his own hand in front of his face, but at least it didn't seem dangerous. And like, in terms of Jumanji-styled boardgames, this seemed pretty harmless.

...For now.

Space 6
You hear a shrill, humming noise; it sounds almost like something is firing past you–and sometimes, you even feel a sharp burst of air, like something has just missed you. Maybe, even, it does get a slice out of you. Sharp, bladelike threads seem to string up around you; you’d best be careful not to get cut on any of them between now and your next dice roll.

——

A cringe made the length of his spine seize up as they were transported to the face of a board game. There was no way Weissite might have known what was going to happen when he picked up the die, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he should’ve been aware something was off.

Nope. Not this time.

“Sorry, Fel…” He whispered at his friend’s strained and resigned expression.

Couldn’t be blamed for being Not In The Mood for more s**t to befall him. Weissite didn’t begrudge him that.

Feldspar headed deeper into the board, and it felt like invisible strings were keeping Weissite in place so as not to impede on anyone else’s turn, but at the lilting call if his name, “Yeah, I’m still here! Can’t see you, though. Just be cool until you can keep moving.” Easier said than done, but Weissite wouldn’t keep him waiting.

Once he could move, he took his own roll, and as he passed through Fel’s space he tried to call out to his friend a warning that he was close, but through the fog on Fel’s space, Weiss never even saw him.

His own square was seemingly empty. It looked like he could cross it easily.

But something blew by him with a whistling sound, and Weissite had to stumble away to retreat from the force of how quickly whatever it was went. “s**t.” Quiet curse, not enough for Fel to hear, less Weissite accidentally worry him. But another whistling projectile sped through, and another, and another. And on their heel, attached, maybe, cutting wires threaded across the space. He was lucky to be fully covered save for his face, but Weissite didn’t want to gamble on the fabric not protecting him if he took a tumble into the razor wire.

“Fel, go on and roll again pretty quick…”

"I don't need to be told twice," Feldspar muttered as he squinted through the fog, trying to make anything out. Admittedly, there wasn't much to see, but if he just kept walking forward, he'd make it out. One way or another. The edge, or the rest of the board, what did it really matter, in all honesty?

But he was able to find his die, was able to stuff his nose down into the ground enough to make out the number designated on it, was able to crawl beneath the fog (super, super weird: fog usually sank) toward progress.

Whether he was pleased or not to see Weissite already standing in the space was debatable. Like, at least for the moment, he knew what to expect. And that was more than Weissite could say for whatever he was about to face. But Feldspar was especially unenthused by the obstacle here. Wire he could barely see? Covering the space in zigzag patterns that he'd have to dodge and duck and dive through to avoid injury? Not to be the bearer of bad news, but he wasn't much of an acrobat.

He was slow and lumbering and pretty freaking ungraceful.

He tapped the end of his cane to a wire, testing to see how much give it had before it sank into his 'weapon.' Not a ton, but not none. Feldspar sucked his lip between his teeth and gave a little shrug of his shoulders. "Think I'll be alright," he tried to ease Weiss' concerns. "You go on. Don't have a whole lot of choice at this point, and I'll be right behind you."

Space 12
The smell of smoke is in the air. You can’t see what’s burning, but you can hear distant screams, and–carnival music? It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here.

——

Not much choice, huh? Not the most exciting thing to hear, and pretty uncomfortable, since it meant going ahead of Feldspar again. Separating, when they'd be better off sticking together. But that wasn't how board games worked. The die didn't just allow them to hang out perpetually in the same square.

"Alright," was the muttered agreement. "Just be careful. If you can..."

Freeing himself from the space of tangled razor wire was no simple task, and Weissite was quick to learn that it didn't take much pressure to shear through the fabric of his uniform. But the scratches were shallow, clean cuts. So unless he later found out poison was involved, he'd be fine.

When he came to a stop, it felt like he'd put a lot of distance in between Feldspar and himself.

Didn't know how he could help even when they were closer, but at least it was some comfort. Not one he was afforded now.

Weissite was more on guard when he entered this space. He hadn't known what to expect of the first, and it turned out to have a lot of dangerous potential. Now could be the same. At first, it felt like nothing, but as he continued walking into the square, he caught wind of something like barbecue? Smoke. Screams. Panic. He couldn't see the people, but he could feel them rushing by him, desperate to escape the burning smell.

And the smoke followed. If the people didn't shove and knock him around, the smoke would suffocate him. But he was trapped until Feldspar escaped the wires, and Weissite didn't want to frighten him into tripping over himself.

He took in the shallowest breath, desperate not to choke, then called out, "I'm alright, go ahead!"
