Regularly Scheduled Programming (3): With Halloween just around the corner, television stations are constantly playing various spooky themed movies and episodes of your favorite shows. When you sit down to watch something in particular, the screen goes static. You try to change the channel but every one of them is static. If you continue to watch (or attempt to fix the television), an eerie voice comes across the speakers begging for help and that they're coming. No matter what you do or say, they only repeat the same phrases. When you turn off the television and turn it back on again, everything has turned to its regularly scheduled programming.

The TV was on in the background while he worked in his home office. It was just noise and while Quinn could have on the news or even a music station, he has done that before, this time the young man… maybe not so young any more… had on a Halloween station. Well more like a network that decided to play holiday specific movies and shows, except Disney because it was Disney, enough said there. During the day it mostly played child friendly ones, like Corpse Bride and the Hotel Transylvania series, and then at night it did the more scary movies like IT and Nightmare on Elm. Quinn wasn’t a big fan of the ‘scary’ movies, he had experienced things that were worse over his years as a knight so it wasn’t scary but it did make him remember sometimes. That was much, much worse honestly. But that was neither here nor there right then, because right then Quinn was buried in papers for work that he needed to focus on.
A few hours later he had finished figuring out a particularly tricky little bit of wording and was ready for a break. Perfect timing actually since it seemed like the tv was about to play Casper, the 1995 movie. Now that was a massive blast from the past. Happy for the break the tired male got up, stretched, snagged himself a soft drink and then switched it out for water as his inner ‘adult’ scolded him for needing to drink more water, and sat down to enjoy a little bit of nostalgia. But just as he got comfortable and the opening credits were starting the screen turned to static. Just fuzz with the obnoxious buzz sound coming from the speakers. Frowning Quinn quickly changed the channel, but only encountered more of the same. Static just static.
As he fiddled with the remote, he had turned the volume down because the sound of static was seriously grating on the nerves, something drew his attention back to the fuzzy screen. It was a voice. A soft voice crying out for help… maybe. Frowning, Quinn turned up the volume and listened intently as the voice sobbed for help. Begged and pleaded that ‘they’ were coming. “Who was coming?” He asked quietly in the empty room. Truthfully he figured it was either someone messing with the signal or it was some of the spooky s**t that happens all the time in this city. It was actually a fairly well known phenomena at this point. No matter what he said or did, the voice just asked for help and informed him that ‘they’re coming’, whoever they were.
Frustrated and annoyed now Quinn narrowed his eyes as he jabbed at the power button, it was likely just some cosmic joke but just in case he would pass the ‘warning’ on to his friends. Better safe than sorry in this city. He picked up his phone to do just that when something pinged at him, “********”, he muttered as he jumped slightly. Damn, guess that static had spooked him more than he had thought. It was a message from the ‘Ancient Alien’ Selinur. A quick glance at the note had him groaning. The old senshi had yet another person he wanted the knight to meet. “Please not another one,” he muttered to himself as he absently flipped back on the tv.
The happy jingle of a car commercial had Quinn glancing away from the message and realizing that his tv was back to normal. No static in sight and no spooky voices either. With a sigh the young man just put on some soft jazz and went back to his paperwork. He would address Selinur’s message the next time he took a break but right now Quinn just wanted to push it all away and work was the perfect medium to do that with.
