Regularly Scheduled Programming (3): With Halloween just around the corner, television stations are constantly playing various spooky themed movies and episodes of your favorite shows. When you sit down to watch something in particular, the screen goes static. You try to change the channel but every one of them is static. If you continue to watch (or attempt to fix the television), an eerie voice comes across the speakers begging for help and that they're coming. No matter what you do or say, they only repeat the same phrases. When you turn off the television and turn it back on again, everything has turned to its regularly scheduled programming...Dreama was on her way to the theatre downtown. It was one of her assignments to do a report on a dance performance by the end of the week, and she was excited to learn about it. However, her stomach had other plans: meaning plainly; she had been up since 4:30, had eaten breakfast at 5 and now it was 12:19 and her stomach wasn't taking no for an answer. So, she looked around in the vicinity and saw a cute Bakery across the street. Dreama loved pastries and sugar, so she crossed the street quickly and entered. There was a short line, so she only had to wait a bit, before coming the register. She greeted the sweet girl behind the counter and asked for 2 eclairs and a bear claw - (she was really hungry). Someone had started messing with the tv, and it suddenly went completely staticky.

Amigar had been baking all morning, after all, it was the annual Halloween festival coming up, and she had orders flying out the door. She had cakes, cake pops, cupcakes, pies, and anything people could think had to do with Halloween she had orders to bake.
Not only that but she hadn't had a moment to take a break all morning. She arrived early around 6.30 am to prep the kitchen and looking at the clock she realized it was 12.20. Man, she hadn't realized she had been working that long, it only felt like an hour or two.
It was almost like her co-worker nearby read her mind as she waved her off. Basically telling her to leave the kitchen. Mira laughed and said, "I'm going I'm going." But before she went she took a quick order and placed the customer's bear claw and eclair in front of them. "Enjoy! I'm Mira if you need anything just ask," she said sweetly with a smile.
As she was about to exit behind the counter she grabbed a pastry and quick hot cocoa and placed it on the other side of the counter right next to the customer to whom she had served the pastries too. As she took her seat next to them, she turned around and decided to see what she would be watching on her break.
Except to her surprise, the televisions were not working. She quickly turned to the person next to her, "I'm not just tired right? that tv is definitely not working right?" She really hoped her mind wasn't getting the best of her, but if it wasn't this was strange.

Dreama had gotten her order from Amigar and thanked her. She sat done to eat and watched the gentleman attempt to change the channel on the tv that had go to complete static. However, there was only static on EVERY channel. Amigar had gotten a pastry and some hot cocoa and sat at the table next to Dreama, taking her break. She had asked about the tv. Dreama responded worriedly, "If you are tired, then so am I. By the way, my name is Dreama." She had an Irish accent.

Amigar listened as she took a bite of her pastry and a sip of her cocoa.
She laughed, "Well as long as I'm not the only one. Maybe someone in town hit a wire or something. Oh and nice to meet you Dreama, I'm Amigar!" In her voice, you could hear a french accent. Since no matter how she tried to make it less noticeable it just seemed to shine right through.
honestly, though she didn't mind, it was part of her family and she loved her family.
As she watched the channels all be static, she was a little concerned and even more concerned the second the man stopped. She heard a voice. "help...me...I'm...trapped..." As she was in the middle of taking a sip of her cocoa she almost choked as she heard the voice. Quickly looking around for where it was coming from.

chi honda "Note: In the UK they call TV, the "telly." Dreama nodded taking a bite out of her bear claw. As she did, the voices started, and she did choke on her bear claw. Fortunately, within minutes she was able to swallow it. "They are .... coming...""Good heavens, is that from the telly?" Dreama asked no particular. "Who is coming? How can we help you?" But they just repeated those statements over and over.

Amigar heard that last point and shivered. The voice felt like it was reaching into her soul almost forcing her to help to them. Even if she didn't know who or what she needed to do. She wanted to save them from whoever they needed saving from.
Then she shook her head and realized it was all coming from the static on the tv. Like straight out of a horror film, the television was alive, and she was not going to let that tv hurt anyone in this bakery. She would protect them.
"Dreama it's not real. It's a trick, don't fall for it," she said as she quickly raced up and unplugged the television. Then she quickly plugged it back in. "Sorry folks looks like the Tv is having a bit of an issue." She then grabbed the remote and placed it between Dreama and her.
"Would you like to do the honor?" she said hoping that something as simple as plugging in and out would reset it. Otherwise, she would have to come up with other options.

Dreama looked at her unsure, then nodded shakily, and took the remote from her. When, she pressed the power button, the telly switched on, and the local newscaster appeared once more on the screen, warning about leaf piles that teleported you to other leaf piles across the city and massive spider webs inhabited by millions of tiny spiders, blocking part of downtown. Some of which had already been taken care of. Dreama, despite her, breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone went back to what they were doing and eating. Dreama finished her bear claw and eclairs and realized that it was time for her to go. She gathered her things and stood. "Thank you, Amigar, you saved us!" She said in her Irish accent. There was a big applause. Dreama said goodbye, and hurried out the door to her appointment.

Amigar took a breath of relief, and she was so happy that the weird voices were gone and the static. She was so worried that the method wouldn't work.
Thankfully though the television was back to normal and she was so glad to hear that everyone was happy. She smiled and nodded, "Aww thank you. I'm so happy it worked, but it was a team effort." She smiled toward her new friend and then said goodbye to Dreama since it looked as though she needed to go home. She hoped maybe sometime in the future they would see each other again.
Though for now, she was determined to finish her coco and pastry and get back to her bakery. After all, masterpieces don't make themselves.
