Halloween was always a time of year for myths and stories. People were out to get that proper creepy vibe that was expected during the spooky season, so Harmonia normally didn't give much credence to stories passed around this time of year, but there was just one that she kept hearing. At first she just assumed the story of a hairy moss creature, similar to a bear in appearance, was told to her because she worked at a vet. After all, it made sense to keep with a theme. But, the story ended up being told to her several times, by many different people over the past few days. Her curiosity was peaked, and if it turned out to be nothing, well....she would get some fun Halloween spirit from it.
So, once darkness fell, Harmonia set out to the area that the story seemed to be generating from. The forest was dark on the near moonless night and the senshi hesitated on the outskirts. "There's no way it can be real." She said to herself. "It's probably some big dog or just a regular bear that someone saw from a far."
She sighed. Maybe she should just go on a normal patrol? Then something crossed her mind. What if it was a youma people were seeing? But then the next question was why was it just taking pumpkins? Either way, now she [ineeded to find out what was going on. Cause if it was a youma she'd need to take care of it before it actually hurt someone.
Still, she hesitated at the tree line. After all, the dark may not be so scary but Harmonia's very active imagination was easily able to jump hurdles to make the darkness the most terrifying thing ever.Stari_Maga LMK if this works for you!

The last time Nectaris had gone investigating rumors, had she gotten burned for it, literally? Yes. Yes she had. Her arms had stung for like a week after she'd confronted Faustite about the stuff she'd read in the database, and he'd tried to kill her. Was that gonna stop her from investigating everything else that she could? No way! Especially since she'd heard rumors of a pumpkin-stealing monster. Monsters she was used to, it was Destiny City, after all, but, like, monsters that exclusive wanted to eat pumpkins or something? Now that was interesting. That was different. And worse case scenario, she was gonna get chewed up, not even burned, so, like, there was really no reason not to head out to the pumpkin patch to see what all this was about. A quick glance around did not show her any pumpkin monsters, but it did show her a senshi, and that already made this all worth is. "Woah," she whispered, a bounce in her jog as she headed over in the girl's direction. "You outfit is so cute. Like, don't get me wrong, every senshi has their own cool aesthetic, I love seeing all of them, but yours is, like, something I'd wear." A second passed. Nectaris blinked. "Also, hi."

Harmonia jumped at the girl's approach. She spun on booted heel at the voice and nearly sighed in relief at the sight of the Knight. She'd been so involved in her thoughts she'd not been paying attention to things past her immediate surroundings, thus she'd missed the oncoming aura. She should know better and mentally berated herself.
She glanced down at her fuku and blushed slightly before laughing at the belated hi. "Thank you, but you look like a literal butterfly and that's amazing!" She said marveling at the cape that billowed behind the knight. All of the pretty pastels too were right up Harmonia's alley.
"What brings you out here?" Was it perhaps the same reason she was investigating the area? Considering it seemed odd for anyone to be out here otherwise the likelihood seemed very good. "It wouldn't happen to be because of a certain pumpkin-stealing creature?"
"I am Harmonia, by the way." She offered a cheerful wave.

Nectaris couldn't help it. She twirled, throwing her arms out and letting the gossamer cape fly behind her like it was really wings. "And I'm Nectaris," she said after two full spins, doing her best to nod at the senshi even though she was kinda dizzy from it. "So, like, my Wonder's the Sea of Nectar, it's got all these butterfly vibes, and I do get a super great cape out of it." She tilted her head an inch to the side and blinked a few times, trying to get her balance back, then said, "Cosmos or whoever had great style in general, though. The best part of going out has to be seeing everyone's clothes." Maybe the clothes were second best, after just meeting the people in general. It was way more fun trying to track a weird pumpkin critter with a friend than it would've been if she was out here on her own. "Yeah, that's why I'm here," she told Harmonia. "I figured it was either a bear or a youma. Bears are super cute, and youma, y'know. Gotta deal with those." There didn't seem to be any Chaos around right now, though.

Harmonia took Nectaris's spinning as the offer it was to marvel at the cape. The colors were to pleasant and...in fact the entirety of Nectaris's outfit was incredibly beautiful. It had an elegance to it that Harmonia felt her own Fuku lacked. The poor girl though looked as if any moment she could fall over after the twirl. Harmonia laughed.
"A whole wonder with butterflies sounds really magical." Her imagination was quite willing to create a picture of a well maintained garden with flowers and foliage everywhere while butterflies fluttered around everywhere. All different kinds of butterflies were just meandering their way around from flower to flower. "It has to be beautiful." She remarked, taken away by her own imagery.
Her little imagery came crashing back to reality though as she looked back out to the woods that they bordered. Damn. If only they were in warm weather surrounded by flowers and butterflies now instead of it being cold and dark.
"I was thinking a bear was most likely too, if it's an animal and not a youma like you said." The chances of it being either a youma or creature was probably 50/50 considering they were in Destiny City.
"I don't feel anything chaotic at the moment, but it could be somewhere else right now. Do you want to check out the woods or maybe just stay along the tree line?" Har was a bit nervous to enter the darkness of the wood and it showed in the quiet fidgeting as her fingers pulled and fussed at the fabric of her skirt.

"Yeah, it sounds really magical, right?" Nectaris agreed. She might not get memories of her Wonder the way some Knights did, but she could still imagine what it was supposed to look like, with live butterflies, probably, and all the rest. "It's kinda. Uh. In ruins right now, though," she said with a sad little shrug. "I didn't purify that long ago, and it's kinda a lot to fix up." Her past wasn't a secret. If someone decided to get weirded out that she'd been in the Negaverse, that was on them. Her smile didn't stay away for long. "But hey, I get the cute clothes regardless, so I still win." Now they just had to focus on finding this bear, or possibly bear-youma. Pumpkin-youma? There were a lot of things it could be. Nectaris nodded when Harmonia suggested they look in the woods. That sounded like the best place to find whatever it was that they were looking for. "We can look at the edge of the trees to start," she said. People had been seeing it come out of the woods, so it might not be in there too deep. "But I did bring a flashlight if you wanna go farther." Now that she was actually here, looking at how dark it was in there, going into the trees seemed a lot spookier. It was good she had a friend with her now.

"Oh! You purified?!" Harmonia's energy lifted as smiled openly. "Well good for you! I am so glad you purified! I hope you're adjusting alright? If you need anything, you can definitely reach out to me. I'll even give you my phone number so you can call me whenever." Harmonia beamed at Nectaris. It was heartwarming to know some had managed to find themselves back to their original selves. "I am sure you'll get your Wonder up in tip top shape soon enough."
She turned to look at the trees and frowned a bit. "We probably should stay close to them but I didn't bring a flashlight either. I had been hoping to maybe see whatever it is in the pumpkin patch that it apparently likes to scavenge from." Har nodded towards the pumpkin patch that was a little ways behind them. "I thought if I got between it and the woods I'd have a better shot at catching it if it was a youma.
"I honestly don't think going into the woods is smart at dark. We could get lost if we aren't careful." Though it wasn't common for people from the city to get lost in the woods, cause they typically weren't in them, it was a legit concern.
As she looked back to the pumpkin patch though something caught her attention. Her brows furrowed as she attempted to focus on whatever it was. "Is that...is that a pumpkin moving?" In fact, did it have a face? And what the hell was it? Cause whatever it was it was terribly difficult to fully grasp what she was looking at.

"Yep! Purified," Nectaris confirmed with a grin. Not that she was smiling about having been in the Negaverse, but, like, when she talked about that stuff, there was always the chance that someone was gonna be weird about it. She was really, really glad that Harmonia wasn't gonna be weird about it. "And yeah," she said, as she was digging through her subspace pocket for the flashlight, "We should totally exchange phone numbers! I had to clear out my contacts with the whole new life thing, so, yeah. Do you like cat gifs or panda gifs more?" she asked, and perked back up to look Harmonia straight in the eye like this was the most important question she'd asked all day. "I've got a bunch of both I could show you." That was when things got serious, and Nectaris went quiet for a full five seconds, sucking her cheeks in so she couldn't make any noise. Harmonia was saying something about a moving pumpkin, and Nectaris reached back into subspace and finally felt her fingers close around that flashlight. She clicked it on, waved it in front of her, and her jaw dropped. "Yep," she said. "That thing is totally alive and it totally has a face." It didn't have an aura, though. It also didn't seem to like the light. Within a couple of seconds, it was scurrying deeper into the pumpkin patch. Nectaris stared after it. "Huh," she said. "So what do we do now? I guess we were wrong. It doesn't look like a youma or a bear."

if Harmonia hadn't been distracted by the moving pumpkin, aka their target, she would have been incredibly interested in hearing and seeing all of the cat and panda gifs that Nectaris's had to share. Anything that defaulted into the worlds of cute, adorable and/or funny, she was all in. If nothing else, this proved that she and the Knight would be getting along well! It was an exciting prospect. Beyond her co-workers, Har had no real friends. So many she had before college were long gone, and since she came back she'd been mostly solo.
Thank goodness one of them had the foresights to bring along a flashlight. Har had come ill prepared for such a venture but at least Nectaris had thought ahead. At least one of them was on their game tonight.
"I don't know." She said at a whisper, afraid that her voice could somehow spook the creature away even though it was well without of earshot. Well, then again, maybe not consider the extraodinary hearing many animals had. "It can't be a youma. I don't feel anything from it. I thought for sure if we actually found it it would be a youma." To be honest, an animal with a pumpkin on it's head every time it was seen just was too far fetched. A pumpkin could easily be broken off and likely eaten.
"I guess we try to get closer? I just have no clue what it could be. Perhaps some kind of ghost or spirit?" It felt odd even saying it but considering they were quite literally two magical girls standing there observing a creature with a pumpkin on it's head or for a head, it probably wasn't too far fetched to think ghosts and spirits existed.
"Let's see where it's going I guess." She said with a half grin as she grabbed Nectaris's free hand and gently tugged the other young woman along towards the patch.
As they drew closer to the patch though it became apparent that they weren't really gaining any ground on the creatures or whatever it was. It always seemed to be the same distance away. Just out of reach of a good strong view with Nectaris's flashlight.

"Okay," said Nectaris, because now that she had the little pumpkin that was very much not a youma but probably still a monster in her sights, she was invested. "Let's stalk this thing." She wasn't expecting stalking it to be so hard. Like, she was a Knight. Harmonia was an Eternal Senshi. It wasn't like they were slow, but somehow the waddling pumpkin managed to be so fast that they weren't gaining on it at all. "Okay, yeah this is totally magic," she said, although she hadn't given up on the whole chasing it thing, so the words came out kinda breathless. "I saw this fairy thing over the summer that was kinda the same? No aura, it wouldn't even tell me its pronouns." She had to wonder if this was connected at all. Like, there were magical girls, there were agents, she understood all that stuff, but she kept hearing rumors and seeing this that were implying that there was something more. Although it didn't look like she was gonna be cracking any secrets about that just yet, because the little skittery pumpkin skittered right out of her flashlight range, and she couldn't pick it back up again. "Aww." She pouted at Harmonia.

It was a crafty creature whatever it was. They could gain absolutely no ground on it no matter what they did. It was always a hair quicker. Honestly, if Har wasn't moderately worried about catching up to it and finding something that either of them had probably bargained for, she would have been upset. Instead, when Nectaris finally came to a stop she happily halted as well to catch her own breath. She had to agree with Nectaris's assumption.
"A fairy?" Now that was something Har would have loved to meet! While her love for animals was strong, the thought of meeting something that was out of the fantasy books she read was the icing on top of the cake. "I bet that was so magical!" She said wistfully thinking about meeting a real life fairy.
"But you're probably right. It's definitely something magical and I don't think we are going to find it again." Darkness had fully set in now and they were blind beyond the span of the flashlight Nectaris had brought along. Not like the creature was going to let them near it anyway, that much was clear.
"Well, it was fun while it lasted." She finally said, wrinkling her nose before sighing. "Well, if nothing else we got to meet each other!" She said with joy as she spun fully to face Nectaris. "Maybe that's the magic of this thing? Bring people together?" She was 100% reaching here, but she was fine with it. It added a bit of romanticism to the whole adventure.

Other people might have thought that some little pumpkin fairy having the power to bring people together was stupid. Nectaris was not one of those people. It was dark enough now that Harmonia probably couldn't see the way that her eyes were shining in just the reflected light from her flashlight, but they were shining all the same. "That's gotta be it," she said, and the flashlight beam bobbled up and down as she rocked excitedly on her toes. " Hey," she called out into the shadows, as loud as she could. "Thanks, little buddy! I love my new friend." She loved the pumpkin buddy, too, but she was pretty sure that was all she was gonna be able to say to it, since there was no way they'd been able to catch it before, and it could be anywhere now. So, she turned to Harmonia instead. "Wanna go get some like, pumpkin muffins or whatever? Lattes? Something cute and fall. You know, to celebrate that we got to meet." She grinned, and tilted her flashlight enough that the other girl could see that. "I have money!"

Har laughed as Nectaris bid their pumpkin friend farewell in such a boisterous manner. It was incredibly charming and Har found that jubilant attitude entoxicating as she joined in. "Thank you pumpkin friend for everything!" She hollard with a mighty wave over her head
Turning on her heel her eyes widened at the offer of getting some treats and drinks. "OH! Yes! Let's do that!" She grinned widely though it may have been missed in the darkness. Still her voice said it all how thrilled she was with the idea.
"There's a place not too far from here either. They usually have a lot of pumpkin flavored things too, even at this hour."
She reached down to grab Nectaris's hand. It had been so long since she'd done anything with anyone. Her life had quickly become work and patrols. Making friends was difficult. So this? This was perfect.
"Let's go!"
